Audrey (daughter of GESCHWENDER, Frank and CLARKSON, Martha Isabell) was born on 8 Apr 1930 in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY; died on 17 Sep 2022 in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Notes:

Audrey Marie (Geschwender) McCombs, born on April 8, 1930, our dearest Audrey McCombs of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on September 17, 2022.
Audrey is survived by her nine children and their spouses: Caroline (Thomas) Gutshall, Charles (Elaine) McCombs, Douglas (Debbie) McCombs, Donald (Janice) McCombs, Ruth (Michael) Skurski, Michael McCombs, Mark McCombs, Scott (AnnMarie) McCombs, Grace (John) Stewart. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and their spouses, 21 great-grandchildren, and a wide circle of family and friends.
Audrey was preceded in this transition by: her beloved husband of over 50 years, Charles McCombs; her siblings Isabelle, James Elmer, William, Frank, Ernest, and Vernon; her beloved niece Betty; her sister-in-law Janice, her brother-in-law Walter; her daughter-in-law Ann; and her parents, Frank and Martha (Clarkson) Geschwender.
How do you sum up a long and beautiful life? There is not enough space anywhere, to truly describe our special person and this monumental loss. Audrey was a deeply loved and amazing woman, and was the center of our quite large and boisterous family.  When she said “I love you”-it was clearly infused in every word.  She parented multiple generations of us, cuddled and sang to us, kissed our hurts away, tucked us in, and taught us how to make incredible food. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting gifts for family and friends, sending the annual Christmas cookies care package, reading a wide variety of novels, and doing crossword puzzles.  She was a huge Brooklyn Dodgers fan her entire life, and did eventually forgive them for moving across the country to Los Angeles. Audrey also adored the Buffalo Bills, and we hold them responsible for some of her ability to swear passionately in German. Her feelings about the Sabres, however, are a whole other topic for another time.
Audrey loved to travel and saw the world, visiting her family and friends, wherever they roamed.  She always included a five dollar bill and wrote in birthday cards: “Have a Pepsi on me!”-and we had fun teasing her about it. She loved getting together with “her girls”-a group of special friends from high school that maintained lifelong connections. She could be hilariously cutthroat at card games, and was adorably sneaky and smug when she teased you.  She had a wonderful laugh. She really loved us, and her coffee!  She was Mom, Grandma, Grammy, G-Ma, Aunt Aud. She was everything. She had a fierce determination and a generous spirit. She glowed with life and love. She was the home we always have come back to, whenever we had the need. The door was never locked to you. Audrey taught us how to be capable and resilient people, and held us to high standards.  We hope to always hold ourselves strong in the blessings of her faith and love in us, and will be
forever grateful for the memories we have had together.
Visitation Friday after 9 AM where Funeral services will be held at 11 AM followed by interment in Acacia Park Cemetery.  Memorials, if desired may be made to Riverside Presbyterian Church, Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church, Niagara Hospice or the American Cancer Society.  This obituary was loving written by the family.
