    Helen C. Cassavaugh (nee Brenon) age 96, of North Tonawanda, passes peacefully in her sleep, December 18, 2022. She was the wife of the late Ernest “Dusty” Cassavaugh who died on January 1, 1988. Beloved mother of Patricia (Howard) Carnrike, Nancy (Bryan) Geesler, Jeanne (late Ronald) Regis, and Debra (Lester) Spoth. Grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Sister of Dolores Thuman, Suzanne May, and the late Margaret, Agnes, Lucille, Anna, Rosemary, Gloria, Edward, Leo, Charles, and Joseph. Aunt of many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Fretthold and Hamp Funeral Home, 37 Adam St., in Tonawanda, on Wednesday from 3:00 – 6:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home beginning at 5:00 PM. Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery. If so desired memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be shared at frettholdandhamp.com

    The marriage of Miss Helen
    Brenon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
    Leo Brenon of 4010 Delaware ave-
    nue to Mr. Ernest P. Cassavaugh,
    son of Mrs. Rose Cassavaugh of
    346 Hoyt Street, Buffalo, was sol-
    emnized at 10 a.m.. Oct. 23 at
    Mount St. Mary's Chapel, the Re-
    erent James Donovan officiating.
    The altar was decorated with red
    roses.
    Given in marriage by her
    father, the bride wore a gown of
    white candellight satin, fashioned
    with sweetheart neckline,, long,
    pointed sleeves, long train, and
    trimmed with seed pearls. Her
    fingertip veil was caught with a
    crown of seed pearls. She carried
    a shower bouquet of white roses,
    centered with a white orchid.
    Mrs.. Gerald Thuman, sister of
    the bride, was matron of honor,
    wearing a white taffeta gown
    with illusion neckline trimmed
    with chantillly lace. She wore
    gauntlets and a sweetheart bonnet
    and carried a colonial bouquet
    of red roses and white pompoms.
    The bridesmaids were Miss
    Rosemary Brenon and Mrs. Paul
    Spoth, sisters of the bride, and
    Miss Ida Cassavaugh, sister of the
    groom. They were gowned alike
    in white taffeta. They also wore
    gauntlets and sweetheart bonnets
    and carried colonial bouquets of
    red roses and white pompons.
    Little Suzanne Brennon, sister
    of the bride, was flower girl. Her
    gown was identical to that of the
    bridesmaid, with gauntlets and
    sweetheart bonnet,, and she car-
    ried a small colonial bouquet of
    res roses and white pompoms.
    Master Michael Kraft, nephew of
    the bride, was ring bearer, carry-
    ing the two rings on a white satin
    heart-shaped pillow trimmed with
    lace.
    Albert Sniezak was best man,
    Paul Spoth, Gerard Thuman and
    Charles Brenon were ushers.
    The bride,s mother wore a
    draped black crepe dres with
    sequin trim and gray accessories.
    The groom's mother wore a navy
    blue crepe dress with beaded trim
    and gray accessories. Both wore
    corsages of pink rose buds.
    After the ceremony a wedding
    breakfast was served for the immediate
    family. Covers were
    placed for 32, the table being cen-
    tered with a three tiered wedding
    cake fanked with four white
    tapers and red roses. In the eve-
    ning a reception was held for 200
    guests at the V.F.W. hall at North
    Tonawanda.
    For her wedding trip the bride
    wore a powder blue susit with top-
    per to match, black accessories
    and an orchid corsage. The couple
    will reside at 346 Hoyt street,,
    Buffalo.

    Brenon, 76, d'ed yesterday at the family
    home. 231 Adam street, after an
    Illness of one week. Mr. Brenon had
    resided in t h i Tonawandas for the past
    50 years. Besides his wife ho is survived
    by four sons, five daughters, 29
    grandchildren, one brother and three
    sisters.
    Funeral services will be held from
    the home Monday momlng at 8:30
    o'clock and at 9 from St. Patrick's
    Catholic church. Interment wili be In
    Mt. Olivet cemetery.
