    George M. Jago, age 77, died January 14, 2023 in his home following a brief illness.  He was born June 14, 1945 in the Town of Royalton to Melvin and Dorothy (Fitch) Jago and was a life-long resident of the area. 
     
    George was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a member of the New York State and National Trappers Associations as well as the NRA.  He loved to hunt, trap, and be outdoors.  One of his greatest joys however, was to be with his family as he was a loving husband and father. 
     
    He is survived by his wife of 50 years Lois, his daughters: Luann Tobin of Wrights Corners, Laura (Michael) Bishop of Lockport, his brothers: Fred (Dorothea) Jago of Wolcottsville, William (Darlene) Jago of Akron, his sister: Brenda (Les) Bower of Lockport, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
     
    The family will receive friends FRIDAY from 10-11am in Trinity Lutheran Church, 6369 Wolcottsville Rd., Akron, NY, 14001 where his Funeral Service will follow at 11am.  Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in the Spring.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.  George’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home of Middleport.  To share a special memory of George, please visit: www.mitchellfamilyfuneralhomes.com

    Akron: Dorothy E. Jago, 95, passed away January 22, 2021. She was born March 16, 1925 in the Town of Newstead, a daughter of the late John and Mabel (Harrington) Fitch. Mrs. Jago was an active Member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Wolcottsville and enjoyed reading the bible every day. Dorothy also enjoyed cooking, crafts, puzzles and watching In Touch Ministries with Dr. Charles Stanley. Dorothy’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Melvin and sister Marian (Leslie) Sharpsteen.Mrs. Jago is survived by her children, George (Lois), Fred (Dorothy), Brenda (Lester) Bower and William (Darlene); grandchildren, Louann (Shawn) Tobin, Laura (Mike) Bishop, Kirk (Kay) Jago, Jennifer (David) Jago, Branden (Karrie) Bower and William (Catherine) Jago Jr.; 14 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and brother, Dr. Laverne (Karen) Fitch; several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 28, from 12:00-1:00 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6369 Wolcottsville Rd.     Avery W. Glena, 60, of 9271 Griswold Road, Akron, (Wolcottsville) died yesterday at Genesee Memorial Hospital in Batavia, following a long illness. Mr. Glena was born Feb. 12, 1920 in the Town of Royalton the son of Louis and Polly (Clark) Glena. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines. He was a life-long resident of the Akron-Wolcottsville area and had been a maintenance man at National Gypsum of Clarence Center for 33 years. He was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church of Wolcottsville and of the OCAW Union. Surviving are his wife, Erma; two sons, Wayne of Lockport, Roland of Wolcottsville; two daughters, Mrs. George (Lois) Jago, Wolcottsville, Mrs. Albert (Carolyn) Claude, Lockport; 11 grandchildren; one brother, John Glena of Wolcottsville; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Shapin of Churchville, Mrs. Charles (Anna) Webster of Wolcottsville and several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Roy Glena, Lillian Ribbeck and Alice Johnson. She is survived by two daughters and one son, Mrs. William (Florence) Brunning, Lena Jago and Melvin Jago, all of Wolcottsviile; five grandchildren, Norman Brunning and George, Fred, Brenda and William Jago; one great-grandson, William Brunning. A granddaughter, Gladys Jago, passed away in 1956. Two sisters, Mrs. Myrthe Gladdow and Mrs. Lena Mietz, both of Wolcottsviile; one brother, Leonard Raduns of Gasport, also several nieces and nephews.     John Fitch Succumbs to Long Illness
    John W. Fitch of 37 Lakewood Village, Medina, died Wednesday at Medina Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Born July 21, 1901, in the Town of Newstead, he was the son of Jacob and Mary (Lindke) Fitch. He. had been a farmer for several years, a carpenter, had owned and operated a grocery store in Barker, and operated a trailer court in Barker for 14 years before his retirement in 1963. He was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville, and the Wolcottsville Golden Agers. Mr. Fitch was the husband of Mabel Fitch, father of Mrs. Leslie (Marian) Sharpsteen of Miami, Fla., Mrs. Melvin (Dorothy) Jago of Wolcottsville, the Rev. Laverne Fitch of Smithville, Texas, and the late Gerald Fitch; brother of Mrs. Frederick (Lydia) Mante of Churchville, Mrs. Alice Reabold of East Aurora, and Mrs. Norman (Viola) Lindke of Middleport. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 15 greatgrandchildren, 10 foster sons and several nieces and nephews.     Mable Fitch Dies in Florida
    Mabel V. Fitch, 36 Lakewood Village, Medina, died Friday in Miami, Fla. She was wife of the late John W. Fitch, who died in 1979. Mrs. Fitch was born July 21, 1901 in Akron, the daughter of George and Ella (Kuhn) Harrington. She had lived in Medina since 1976, before that in Middleport, and before that in Barker for several years where she owned and operated a grocery store with her husband. She was an arts and craft teacher for Barker Central School Adult Program teaching caning, crafts and painting She was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Wolcottsville, the Lutheran Women Missionary League and was a member and past president of Wolcottsville Golden Agers. She was mother of Mrs. Leslie (Marion) Sharpsteen of Miami, Fla., Mrs. Melvin (Dorothy) Jago of Wolcottsville, the Rev. Dr. LaVerne Fitch of Smithville, Texas and the late Geard (sp.) Fitch; sister of Lloyd Harrington of Niagara Falls, Wilferd (sp.) Harrington of Appleton, George Harrington Jr. of Lockport, and the late Ruth Linderman and Beatrice Holzman.
