James E. Mowrey
Of North Tonawanda, NY, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 in Elderwood at Wheatfield.  He was born in Big Soldier, PA on December 6, 1930, the son of late Charles E. and Anna [Sloan] Mowrey.
Mr. Mowrey moved to the area in 1952 after serving in the US NAVY.
He was employed with Spalding Fibre for over 30 years until the plant closed, as a supervisor and as the research and development manager.
Mr. Mowrey was a member of the Ken-Ton Masonic Lodge for 60 years and of  St. Martin Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda.
He was the husband of 69 years to the late Dolores J. [Licht] Mowrey, who passed away on February 22, 2023.
Mr. Mowrey is survived by his daughter Debbie [ Michael ] Hechler, grandchildren Christopher and Anna (Clayton) Hess, great-grandchildren Savannah, Avery and Clayton, Jr., a brother Thomas Mowrey, also many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Patrick D. and James W. Mowrey and the brother of 15 siblings.
His family will be present  on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9PM at THE RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY,  with funeral services on Monday at 11AM, with the Rev. Meghan James officiating.
Memorials may be made in his name to St. Martin's Lutheran Church, 322 Old Falls Boulevard, North Tonawanda, NY 14120.
Interment with Military Honors in White Chapel Amherst, NY.

DOLORES J. MOWREY


Of North Tonawanda, NY, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, NY.  She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on June 27, 1933, a daughter of the late Raymond and Frances [Mante] Licht.
Mrs. Mowrey graduated from North Tonawanda High School in 1951.
She was a stay at home mom, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Mrs. Mowrey crocheted lap robes for Niagara Hospice for many years.
She was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Mowrey is survived by her husband of 69 years, James E. Mowrey, her daughter Debbie [ Michael ] Hechler, two grandchildren Christopher and Anna (Clayton) Hess, three great grandchildren Savannah, Avery and Clayton, Jr., a sister Olive Pike, also many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Patrick D. and James W. Mowrey, sister of the late Floyd, Edward Licht and Myrtle Tracy.
Her family will be present  on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at THE RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY,  where funeral  services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM , with the Rev. Meghan James officiating.

Raymond Licht
NORTH TONAWANDA - Raymond Licht, 76. of 2876 Pearce Road, died Monday (April 13. 1970) in Buffalo Veterans Hospital after a brief illness. He was a native of this city and was a farmer and laborer for the former Greer Brothers Shavings and Sawdust Co. here for more than 35 years and until retiring in 1&S2. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Frances Licht; two sons, Floyd C. of this city and Edward R. of Niagara Falls; three daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Myrtle) Tracey of Lewiston; and Mrs. Walter (Olive) Pike and Mrs. James (Delores) Mowery, both of North Tonawanda; 16 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn, Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery.

Raymond married MANTE, Frances A on 30 Oct 1921 in North Tonawanda, Niagara County, NY. Otto A. Licht, 71, husband of the late Anna Kurth, died yesterday at his home on the Lockport road, Sanborn. He is survived by two sons, Raymond of the Ward road and Arthur of Sanborn; 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers, Albert and Frank of Tonawanda and a sister, Mrs. Esther Donaldson of Syracuse. The funeral will he held from the late residence at 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Burial will be at Shawnee.

Mrs. Anna J. Licht, 64 years old, died yesterday at her home, 6 Ward Road. Mrs. Licht was born in Germany. For the past 40 years she has resided in the Tonawandas. Surviving are a husband, Otto Licht, two sons, Raymond and Arthur Licht, North Tonawandap; a brother, Frank Kurth of Lockport and six grandchildren. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence. Burial will be in the Swawnee cemetery.

Rites for Ernest Mante Held at Niagara Falls
The funeral of Ernest Mante of Bergholtz, who died Sunday afternoon, was held at the home of his son, Wally J. Mante, in Niagara Falls, Wednesday afternoon. He was also survived by three daughters, Mrs. Fred Fuerch of Sanborn and Mrs. Raymond Licht and Mrs. Raymond Sharts, both of North Tonawanda, and another son, Leonard of Sanborn, N. Y., and one brother, Albert Mante of Bergholtz.
