    Edward Frederick Lass Jr. age 94 of the Town of Wheatfield, NY was called to his heavenly home on January 18, 2015 at Elderwood at Grand Island. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on August 3, 1920, he was the son of the late Edward and Edna (Boeldt) Lass Sr.

    He was also preceded in death by a sister, Irma Gravelle; brother, David Lass and an infant daughter, Catherine Edna Lass. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Wilma (Jepsen) Lass, whom he married on November 28, 1946; four daughters, Barbara (Charles) Grempler of Severna Park, MD, Irene Purificato of North Troy, NY, Patricia Lass of Baldwinsville, NY and Amy Kauderer of Lockport, NY; three sons, Frederick (Renee) Lass of Delmar, NY, William Lass of Newfane, NY and Kenneth (Lori) Lass of Brackney, PA; a sister, Norine Taylor of Lewiston, NY; a brother, Paul Lass of Norfolk, VA; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

    Ed attended local schools and graduated from Trott Vocational High School's three-year chemistry program. He served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II, stationed in California, Arizona and India. While in India he worked on the C46 airplanes, rebuilding the radio systems. He retired from Olin Corp after 24 years as a chemical analyst. Ed was an active charter member of Tri-Community Ambulance Service, Inc., member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, and served as secretary of the building committee for the present church. He played basketball in high school and later played first base in the church softball league. Ed enjoyed vegetable gardening, traveling and loved his family, especially the little ones.

    Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME (731-3234), 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Thursday, January 22 from 4-8 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. R.P. Vogeler, on Friday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, corner Niagara Road and Luther Street in Bergholz. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tri-Community Ambulance Service, Inc., 6276 Ward Road, Sanborn, NY 14132 or Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, 6630 Luther Street, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.

Born in Lincoln, Nebraska on August 31, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William C and Martha (Meyer) Jepsen.Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Edward F Lass whom she married on November 28, 1946; brother, Donald Jepsen; infant daughter, Catherine Edna Lass and daughter-in-law Renee (Frederick) Lass. Survivors include four daughters, Barbara (Charles) Grempler of Severna Park, MD, Irene Purificato of Cohoes, NY, Patricia Lass of Baldwinsville, NY and Amy Kauderer of Lockport, NY; three sons, Frederick Lass of Delmar, NY, William Lass of Newfane, NY and Kenneth (Lori) Lass of Brackney, PA; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.Wilma received her Bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University in 1947 and a Master’s degree from SUNY College at Buffalo after her children were grown. She was a long time Girl Scout leader, including leading a troop on the Tuscarora Nation; a founding member of the Historical Society of North German Settlements in Western New York where she was the editor of Der Brief for 40 years as well as being secretary and President; and a longtime member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Bergholz.     street, a veteran of the World War,
    died In Memorial hospital yesterday,
    following a short Illness. He was 44
    years old,
    Mr. Lass was a native and lifelong
    resident of Niagara Falls. Ho was
    employed for many years as a carpenter
    by the Ayers-WItmer Lumber
    company. He is survived by his wife,
    Mrs. Edna Lass; three sons, Edward
    Jr.. David and Paul: two daughters,
    Irma and Norine: his parents, Mr.
    and Mrs. Frederick Lass; two sisters,
    Mrs. James Monroe and Miss Hilda
    Lass, and one brother. Carl Lass, all

    avenue, a charter member of the
    Niagara Falls Exempt Firemen's
    association and the former Suspen-,
    sion Bridge Volunteer Fire company,
    who died Saturday at the Memorial
    hospital, will be held at 2 pjn..
    tomorrow it the Otto Redanz Funeral
    home, Michigan avenue and
    Tenth street. The Rev. Dr. Arthur
    H. Schmoyer. pastor of Zion
    Evangelical Lutheran church, Michigan
    avenue and Tenth street, will
    officiate. Interment will be in Oakwood
    cemetery.
    Mr. Boeldt suffered a fracture of
    the left hip when he slipped and
    fell as he was crossing the street at
    Portage road and Cedar avenue on
    February 19 while pn his way to
    the Exempt Firemen's home, 715
    Third street. He had been caretaker
    there 18 years.
    Born at Mecklenberg, Germany,
    July 4, 1865, a son of the late Gottlieb
    and Annabelle Fredriks Boeldt,
    he came to this city with his parents
    when he was six years old.
    He was employed as a foreman
    by the Aluminum Company of America
    until his retirement 18 years
    ago. Mr. Boeldt was a member of
    the company's 25-year club.
    On September 25, 1890, he was
    married to Miss Tillie Hoffman. She
    died March 17, 1916.
    Surviving are three daughters
    and two sons, Mrs. Edna B. Lass,
    Mrs. Clarence A. Lambert, Mrs.
    Herbert J. Maloney, Clarence J., and
    Carl E. Boeldt. all of this city and
    a sister, Mrs. Anna Robinson. Astabula,
    O. Fifteen grandchildren
    and three great-grandchildren also
    survive.
