Roger W. Karre, age 80, of North Tonawanda, on November 28, 2023. He was the son of Ernest and Malinda Karre, and loving husband of MaryLee Karre (nee Mulivich). Proud father of Ken (Karen DeJoe), Barry (Sheila Scott), and Paul (Jennifer) Karre. Cherished grandfather of Lauren, Emily, and Nathan. Brother of the late Richard, Lowell, and David Karre, and brother-in-law of Michael and Nancy Mulivich. Roger will also be missed by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.


Roger had a big heart for the North Tonawanda Community. He was a lifelong member of Saint Mark Lutheran Church, and often attended events at the Riviera Theater, where he was able to celebrate his love for music. He enjoyed challenging crossword puzzles and watching jeopardy, spending time with friends drinking coffee at McDonald's, and playing little practical jokes on the people he loved. He was quiet, kind, and patient but also very witty. Everyone who met Roger loved him. He held steadfast in his faith until the very end, and with his last bit of energy, spoke the words “I am but a stranger here. Heaven is my home.”


Friends may call at Fretthold Funeral Home Inc, 1241 Oliver Street, corner of Ward Road, on Friday from 3:00PM – 7:00PM. A funeral service will be held at Saint Mark Lutheran Church, 1135 Oliver Street, on Saturday at 11:00AM.

KARRE - Ernest W. Karre. 70, of North Tonawanda, Tuesday (May 20, 1975) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mr. Karre was a life long resident of North Tonawanda, a member of St. Mark Lutheran church, the Lutheran Layman's League and former employe of the Carborundum Co , retiring in 1988 , He is survived by his wife Mellinda (nee Gest) Karre; foxirsons. Richard J. (Marilyn) Karre of Lake Placid, NY., Lowell E. (Sheila) Karre of Huntington Beach, Calif., David H. (Barbara) Karre of Oak Ridge, N.J., and Roger W. Karre of North Tonawanda; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Kaufman of Calumet, Mich., Mrs. Edward (Ella) Bulke and Mrs. Hattie Boddy, both of North Tonawanda. The family will receive friends at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver St., at Ward Rd , North Tonawanda Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in St. Mark Lutheran Church Friday at 10:30 a.m., the Rev. Thomas K. Spahn will officiate. Interment in St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery. If so desired, memorials may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church.

William F. Karre, 63 years old, died Saturday afternoon at his home at No. 222 Stenzil street after a lingering illness. He was born in Germany and had lived in the Tonawandas during the last thirty-four years of his life. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Paul and Ernest Karre of North Tonawanda, five daughters, the Misses Ella and Hattie Karre, Mrs. John Lemke and Mrs. Edward Proefrock of North Tonawanda and Mrs. H. Kaufmann of Chicago; three brothers, August Karre of Germany and Otto and Ernest Karre of North Tonawanda, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Zimmerman of North Tonawanda. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the late residence and half an hour later from the St. Mark's church on Washington street. Rev. Paul Freffhold officiating. Burial will be at Elmlawn.

MRS. HULDA KARRE
Mrs. Hulda Karre, 84, died Saturday at her home, 222 Stenzel street. She was the wife of the late William Karre. Born in Germany, she came to the Tonawandas 60 years ago to reside. She leaves five daughters, Mrs. Anna Kaufman of Chicago; Mrs. John Lemke, Mrs. Rosa Proefrock, Mrs. Edward Bulke and Mrs. William Boddy of North Tonawanda; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Rites will be held this afternoon at 2:30 from the residence and at 3 o'clock from the St. Mark's church on Oliver street. The Rev. Paul Frettholt will officiate. Burial will be in Elmlawn.
