John R. Urban, age 95, passed away at home under Hospice Care on May 16, 2009. Born in Jerome, PA, he worked as a Coal Miner for many years, after which he was employed by the United Mine Workers and then the Steel Workers.Husband of the late Frances Urban. Father of John (Margie) of Niagara Falls and the late Richard Urban. Grandfather of John (Cathe) of Sanborn and Trevor (Theresa) of Virginia. Also survived by three great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren. Brother of Joseph of Kentucky, Ted of New Jersey, Mary and Agnes of Pennsylvania. Also several nieces and nephews.John was a member of the original board of directors for the National Assoc. of Little League Baseball. He was instrumental in the development of Little League Baseball for Western PA. He was involved with semi-pro and Youth Baseball Leagues in various managerial positions.No prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial luncheon at the Waterstreet Landing, Lewiston, on Thursday, May 21st at 11:00 AM.
