Elmer was adopted by Christopher & Catherina when he was two years old. He
found out he was adopted when he was 27 years old & needed a birth certificate
for his place of employment. He then got to know his birth mother's family. In
1985 Elmer wrote the following: I went to school until I was 16 then I worked
for my father as a truck driver. After marriage I drove a passenger bus for a
couple of years- 1926-28 between Toronto & London. I worked in a garage as a
motor mechanic for four years & then was laid off for five years. After that I
got a job at the post office and worked there for 34 years. I have been retired
for 15 years. We miss getting a card from your parents. We stopped in to see
them in 1981. (My mother, Edith Zarn Allen wrote to Elmer for a number of years
from the late 50's when Grandpa Henry Zarn stayed with them at Piney).

Elmer Kolpin 1985 wrote: My father was a farmer in the Carrick & Brant
Townships for the first 12 years of his marriage. He then went into automotive
sales and ran a garage at Walkerton for seven years. Later he went into
trucking and real estate at Kitchener.

Christopher married SCHAUS, Catherine Elizabeth W on 18 Mar 1902 in Neustadt Township, Grey County, Ontario, Canada. Catherine (daughter of SCHAUSS, Philipp and WAGNER, Katharina) was born on 29 Jul 1876 in Normanby, Ontario, Canada; died in 1965. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Catherine Schaus and Lena Schaus who married Charles Procknow were cousins.
