    Raymond K. Schul, of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, passed away on December 5, 2008, at the age of 89. He was born on June 22, 1919 to August Schul and Flora Lauer. Raymond served in the Army during WWII and was stationed in Australia. After the service, he worked for many years as maintenance worker for Hooker Chemical Corp., and retired in 1979. He was also the proprietor of the Fairlane Motel, 9050 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, for 30 years. After retirement he moved to Tavares, FL and together with his wife, Ruth, enjoyed many years there. Raymond was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Ruth Alice (Townsend) Schul; two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his children, Susan (Schul) Pillow of Tavares, FL, Robert Schul of Pembroke Pines, FL, Richard Schul of Tucson, AZ and Christie (Schul) Michaelides of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Also survived by two sisters; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.     After a short trip Private Schul
    will return to Fort Dix to await
    further assignment. Mrs. Schul is
    residing with her sister.

    On Monday

    Funeral services .will be held

    Monday for August L. Schul, 85,

    of 5913 Ward Road, Sanborn,

    who died Thursday (May 7,

    1970) in Memorial Medical Center.

    Born in Elmwood, Ont., Mr.

    Schul moved, to Niagara County

    with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.

    Charles Schul, in 1897 and had

    resided here'ever since.

    He was a thresher and a .former

    superintendent of.highways

    in the Town of Niagara. He was

    a 1rti«nber of hte First Baptist

    Church in Sanborn.

    He is survived by his widow,

    Lily Schul; there sons, Gordon;

    Raymond and Paul Schul, all of

    Niagara Falls; five daughters,

    Mrs. George (Esther) Shepherd,

    Niagara Falls; Mrs, John

    (Doris) O'Connor, North Tonawanda;

    Mrs. Robert (Miriam)

    Bower, Sanborn; Mrs. Roger

    (Ruth) Reedy, Rockford, 111.,

    and Mrs. Aubrey (Anita) Ward,

    Burt; two brothers, Ernest

    Schul, Town of Niagara, and

    William Schul, Niagara Falls;

    25 grandchildren, 21 greatgrandchildren

    and s e v e r al

    niece sand nephews.

    His wife, Flora Laur Schul,

    died in 1949.

    Funeral services will be held

    Monday at 11 a.m. at the

    Grimes Funeral Home with the

    Rev. James P. Kenyon of First

    Baptist Church, Sanborn, officiating.

    Burial will be in Memorial

    Park Cemetery.

    Contributions may be made to

    the Memorial Fund at First

    Baptist Church.

    Friends may call at the funeral

    home today and Sunday from

    2 to 9 p.m.

    Mrs. Mary Townsend. 42. of Liberty
    avenue, Town of Niagara, died
    this morning af 5:55 o'clock in
    Memorial hospital as the result of
    burns which she suffered on April
    6 In the yard of her home. The case
    is being investigated by Dr. Harry
    R. Ernes, coroner.
    Mrs. Townsend had been burning
    some waste material in the yard and
    the bottom of her skirt came in
    contact with the flames. In a few
    seconds her clothing was ablaze.
    Mrs. Mary Kateley, her daughter,
    ran to her aid and beat out the
    flames but not before her mother
    had been severely burned on the legs
    and lower part of her body. First
    aid treatment was administered and
    Mrs. Townsend was rushed to the
    hospital In an automobile.
    A native of Wilkesbarre, Pa., Mrs.
    Townsend had lived In the Town of
    Niagara, for four years. She Is survived
    by her husband, Clarence
    Townsend; four daughters, Mrs.
    Lawson Kateley and Mrs. Earl Armagost,
    of this city; Mrs. Elmer
    Horuberger, of Clarence Center, N.
    Y, and Miss Ruth Townsend, of the
    Town of Niagara; six sons. Private
    Russell Townsend, of the United
    States Air Force, now stationed at the
    Cataract Rouse here; Seaman Second
    Class Gordon Townsend. of the Unlted States Navy, station at San
    Diego, Calif., and Glen, Clarence,
    Jerald and Robert Townsend, of the
    Town of Niagara: a brother, William
    T. Williams, of this city, and three
    sisters, Mrs. John Jones, of this city;
    Mrs. Simon Flory, of Harrlsburg, Pa
    and Mrs. Edward Bolton, of Detroit,
    Four grandchildren also survive.
    Funeral services will be held at
    the Orldley funeral home at 2 pin.
    Sunday with the Rev. James B. Mc-
    Oaffin officiating. Burial will be
    in North Ridge cemetery.

    Townsend Rites Held
    TOWN -OF NIAGARA—Funeral
    services for Mrs. Martha Townsend,
    wife of Clarence Townsend,
    Liberty avenue, were largely attended
    yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock
    at the Gridley Funeral home, Niagara
    Falls. There were many lovely
    floral tributes. The bearers were
    Sanford Brownlee, George Dingwall,
    William Weld, Melvln King. Alfred
    Lange and George Higley. The
    Ladies' auxiliary of Fire Company
    No. 1 Inc., formed a guard of honor.
    Interment was in North Ridge cemetery,
    the Rev. James B. McGaffln
    officiating
