    Townsend-Whltmire
    A very lovely candlelight service,
    the setting of the marriage of
    Miss Mamie Ella Whitmire and Mr.
    Clarence Robert Townsend, was solemnized
    Saturday; Oct. 17, 6 p. m.
    in The Niagara United Presbyter-
    Ian church, with the Rev. James B.
    McGaffin officiating.
    The musical selection, • "I Love
    You Truly" and "At Dawning," were
    beautifully sung by Mrs. Lillian
    Schweitzer anud accompanied by
    Mrs. Labias Schmitt.
    The bride was given in marriage
    by her father. She was a picture of
    loveliness in her gown of white satin,
    trimmed with Spanish lace. A
    crown of pearls held her fingertip
    veil In place. She carried a bouquet
    of white mums and pom poms.
    Her only Jewelry was the locket
    presented to her by the bridegroom.
    Miss Audrey Benjamin, niece of
    the bride, was maid of honor. Her
    satin and lace gown" of rose was
    fashioned similarly to that of the
    bride. She wore a matching bonnet
    of velvet, trimmed with an ostrich
    plume. She carried a bouquet of
    yellow mums with rose poms tied
    with a gold and rose bow.
    The bridesmaids were Misses
    Myrle Benjamin and. Amber Whitmire,
    also nieces of the bride. They
    wore dresses of peach and blue
    matching that of the maid of honor.
    They wore matching velvet bonnets.
    They carried yellow mums and poms
    tied with gold ribbons.
    The bride presented the maid of
    honor with a rhlnestone pin and
    the bridesmaids with gold compacts.
    Mr. Glen Townsend, brother of
    the bridegroom, was best man.
    Mr. Ronald Whitmire and Mr.
    Earl Armagast acted as ushers. The
    best man received a cigarette lighter
    and the ushers received tie sets.
    The bride's mother wore a wine
    dress with wine accessories. Her
    corsage consisted of pink roses and
    yellow poms.
    The reception was held immediately
    after the ceremony. It was
    held at the home of Mrs. Howard
    E. Benjamin, where 100 guests were
    present. The bride's table was centered
    with a three-tier wedding
    cake.
    Mr. and Mrs. Townsend left on a
    short honeymoon trip. The bride's
    going away costume was a blue suit
    with wine accessories. She wore a
    corsage of yellow pom poms.
    Upon their return they will reside
    at 3032 Maryland avenue.

    Mrs. Mary Townsend. 42. of Liberty
    avenue, Town of Niagara, died
    this morning af 5:55 o'clock in
    Memorial hospital as the result of
    burns which she suffered on April
    6 In the yard of her home. The case
    is being investigated by Dr. Harry
    R. Ernes, coroner.
    Mrs. Townsend had been burning
    some waste material in the yard and
    the bottom of her skirt came in
    contact with the flames. In a few
    seconds her clothing was ablaze.
    Mrs. Mary Kateley, her daughter,
    ran to her aid and beat out the
    flames but not before her mother
    had been severely burned on the legs
    and lower part of her body. First
    aid treatment was administered and
    Mrs. Townsend was rushed to the
    hospital In an automobile.
    A native of Wilkesbarre, Pa., Mrs.
    Townsend had lived In the Town of
    Niagara, for four years. She Is survived
    by her husband, Clarence
    Townsend; four daughters, Mrs.
    Lawson Kateley and Mrs. Earl Armagost,
    of this city; Mrs. Elmer
    Horuberger, of Clarence Center, N.
    Y, and Miss Ruth Townsend, of the
    Town of Niagara; six sons. Private
    Russell Townsend, of the United
    States Air Force, now stationed at the
    Cataract Rouse here; Seaman Second
    Class Gordon Townsend. of the Unlted States Navy, station at San
    Diego, Calif., and Glen, Clarence,
    Jerald and Robert Townsend, of the
    Town of Niagara: a brother, William
    T. Williams, of this city, and three
    sisters, Mrs. John Jones, of this city;
    Mrs. Simon Flory, of Harrlsburg, Pa
    and Mrs. Edward Bolton, of Detroit,
    Four grandchildren also survive.
    Funeral services will be held at
    the Orldley funeral home at 2 pin.
    Sunday with the Rev. James B. Mc-
    Oaffin officiating. Burial will be
    in North Ridge cemetery.

    Townsend Rites Held
    TOWN -OF NIAGARA—Funeral
    services for Mrs. Martha Townsend,
    wife of Clarence Townsend,
    Liberty avenue, were largely attended
    yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock
    at the Gridley Funeral home, Niagara
    Falls. There were many lovely
    floral tributes. The bearers were
    Sanford Brownlee, George Dingwall,
    William Weld, Melvln King. Alfred
    Lange and George Higley. The
    Ladies' auxiliary of Fire Company
    No. 1 Inc., formed a guard of honor.
    Interment was in North Ridge cemetery,
    the Rev. James B. McGaffln
    officiating
