Janet (Harrigan) Metro, 69, of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY died on Wednesday March 26, 2008 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY she was the daughter of the late James and Gertrude (Swaim) Harrigan. On October 30, 1965, Janet married Fred J. Metro at Sacred Heart Church in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY.Janet was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. At the age of sixteen, she began a thirty four year career at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, retiring as supervisor of their Corner Shop. Janet was a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America (ISDA) Power City Lodge #158 in Niagara Falls. She enjoyed playing Bingo and the lottery, including scratch off tickets. Most of all, Janet will be remembered for her generosity, and love of family and friends with whom she enjoyed spending time with.In addition to her husband of forty two years, Mrs. Metro is survived by one daughter Donna M. (Paul) Dullen of Lewiston, Niagara County, NY; one son John D. Metro of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY; one granddaughter Brianna Rose Dullen, three sisters and three brothers; Eleanor (late Alex) Tickett of Clearwater, FL; Patricia (Edward) Eames of Lewiston, Niagara County, NY; Francis (Louise) Harrigan, Edward (Julie) Harrigan, Maryann (James) Ivey all of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, Robert (Geraldine) Harrigan of Lewiston, Niagara County, NY and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by five brothers; James Harrigan, Michael (late Gloria) Harrigan, George Harrigan, David (late Dolores) Harrigan and Thomas Harrigan.Friends may call on Friday from 1 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI and SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday March 29th at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 1917 Eleventh Street, Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY with Rev. James Kasinski officiating. Everyone will assemble at church. Interment will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, Memorial Program PO Box 1132, Fairfax, VA 22038 or National Kidney Foundation 300 Delaware Ave, Suite 101, Buffalo, Erie County, NY 14202.
