    Kenneth E. Voelker, 86, of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, entered into rest on Sunday, August 10, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late Edward and Elsie (Frye) Voelker, Kenneth was born on November 20, 1921 in Bergholz, NY, where he attended a one-room schoolhouse from first through eighth grade. Ken graduated from LaSalle Senior High School in 1939 and Kelley Business Institute in 1940 where he studied Accounting and was President of his class. While serving in WWII, Ken also attended Stanford University. Kenneth was a WWII veteran, serving with the 593rd Joint Assault Signal Company, 96th Infantry Division. As a member of the 96th Infantry Division, Ken was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation in recognition of extraordinary heroism in action against the enemy in the conquest of Okinawa from April 1945 to June 1945.A resident of Niagara Falls since 1946, Mr. Voelker worked at Airco Speer Carbon, retiring in 1982 after 42 years of service. He was active in establishing the Credit Union at Airco (formerly International Graphite), was a member of the Industrial Engineer Society and a member of St. James United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed many years of playing softball for Airco and was one of the oldest pitchers in the league. He enjoyed bowling and was a sports fan, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and family.Ken is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth (Dutton) Voelker; his two daughters, Bonnie (James) O’Neill, Beverly (Rick) Ponzi, five granddaughters, Holly (Robert) Gonzalez, Stacey (Gary) Lucinski, Jamie O’Neill, Jaclyn Ponzi, Andrea Ponzi (fiancé Bill Milleville), and also five great granddaughters. His family was a source of tremendous pride for Mr. Voelker and he would get teary-eyed just talking about Ruth and their 64 years of marriage. Ken is also survived by one sister, Audrey (late Herbert) Haseley of Calabash, NC; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Hazel Wiegand, Leona Pollard, Mildred Andrees, Elfrieda Andrees; and brothers, Melvin Voelker and Gordon Voelker.Friends may call on Wednesday, August 12th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, where funeral services will be held Thursday, August 13th at 11 AM.     RUTH JANE VOELKER (Dutton), age 95, of Niagara Falls, NY, entered into rest on December 9, 2017, at the Northgate Health Care Facility, with her family by her side. Daughter of the late James and Ida (Wilkerson) Dutton, she was born October 18, 1922, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Ruth married her true love, Kenneth E Voelker, on July 17, 1944, in Yuba City, California and moved to Niagara Falls, NY in July 1946. After 64 years of marriage, Ken preceded her in death on August 10, 2008. Ruth was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, Niagara Falls, and was a homemaker who took the utmost pride in her home and family.
    Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie O'Neill (Ken Minton) of Ft. Myers, FL, and Beverly (Rick) Ponzi of Sanborn, NY; five granddaughters, Holly (Robert) Gonzalez, Stacey (Gary) Lucinski, Jamie (Allen J.) Thierer, Jaclyn (Timothy) Finiki, and Andrea (Joel) Russell; and nine great-grandchildren. Also predeceased by a brother, Harold Dutton, formerly of Queenston, Ontario.
    The family would like to thank the staff of both the Care Unit and Hospice Unit at the Northgate Health Care Facility, for their excellent care of Ruth, and for all the special attention she received during her two year stay there.
    Funeral arrangements were with the DuBois Funeral Home. An interment service was held privately with the family, in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.

    SCHULTZ – Elsie Voelker Schultz, 65, Thursday (July 7, 1955) in the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Aolph Wiegand of Niagara R., Bergholtz, N. Y. with whom she resided. Born in North Ridge, N. Y. Mrs. Schultz had resided in Bergholtz for the past 43 years and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and the Ladies Ai Society of the Church. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Weigand, Mrs. Harry Pollard of Bergholtz, Mrs. Ernest Andrees and Mrs. Norman Andrees of North Tonawanda and Mrs. Herbert Haseley of Medina; three sons, Melvin and Gordon Voelker of Bergholtz and Kenneth Voelker of Niagara Falls; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; six sisters, Mrs. George Nassoiy, Mrs. Chester Voelker, Mrs. Elmina Krauser, Mrs. Harold Livingston of Niagara Falls, Mrs. David Seymour of Buffalo and Mrs. Theodore Hickox of New Kensington, Pa.; three brothers, Reinhardt and Solomon Frye of Niagara Falls, an Herman Frye of Pontiac, Mich.     BERGHOLTZ, Nov. 18- The mar-
    riage of Miss Elfrieda Voelker, of
    Niagara and Hunts streets, to Nor-
    man Andrees, of the Nash road and
    Niagara Falls boule
    vard, was one of

    the prettiest weddings held here this
    season. Miss Voelker is the daughter
    of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Voelker
    and Mr. Andrees is a son of Mrs. E.
    Andrees. The ceremony took place
    last Saturday at St. James Evangelical
    Lutheran church, the Rev. Otto
    Bruss officiating.
    To the strains of Lohengrin's wed-
    ding march, played by Theodore Gra-
    bau, organist, the bridal party enter-
    ed the church. Miss Voelker was love-
    ly in her bridal attire of a white
    moire gown, which was floor length
    and had a long train, a long tulle
    veil and an old fashioned bouquet of
    white roses, and white Pom Poms and
    smilax tied with satin streamers. She
    wore white hose and shoes to match.
    Miss Audrey Voelker, sister of the
    bride, was maid of honor and wore a
    becoming gown of tea rose moire
    floor length, similar to that of the
    bride. The bride's maids were Miss
    Emma Andrees, sister of the groom,
    and Miss Gladys Mellenthine, an in-
    timate friend of the bride.
    The little four-year-old flower girl,
    Jacquelyn Andrees, niece of the bride
    and groom, looked dainty in a peach
    color silk crepe dress..
    The best man was Wallace Mar-
    tin. Melvin Voelker, brother of the
    bride, and Phillip Moll were ushers.
    Before the ceremony the Misses Ger-
    trude and Lydia Schultz of Niagara
    Falls, sand "I Love You Truly," and
    after the ceremony "What a Friend
    we Have in Jesus," with Mr. Grabau
    accompanying. The single ring cere-
    mony was used. Mrs. Voelker, mo-
    ther of the bride, wore a becoming
    dress of green silk crepe, and Mrs.
    Andrees, mother of the groom, wore
    a stunning gown of wine crepe.
    After the ceremony a reception was
    held in the hall on Niagara road for
    about 60 guests. Out-of-town guests
    were from Nashville, Tonawanda and
    Niagara Falls.
    Pre-nuptial affairs were showers
    given by Mrs. Hazel Weigant, the
    Misses Audrey Voelker and Lydia
    Schultz; Mrs. E. Andrees, Mrs. Mil-
    dred Andrees and Miss Emma An-
    drees; Miss Loretta Froehling, Mrs.
    Edward Heshke and Mrs. William
    Andrees. The bride and groom will
    reside on the corner of Nash road and Ni-
    agara Falls boulevard.
