    George Larkham "Scotty"
    Scott, 92, a retired Washington
    State Univrity professor, died of
    age-related causes April 15 at a
    Spokane hospital.
    He was born Feb. 1, 1906, to
    George Larkham and Florence
    Claire DeWitt Scott in Neligh,
    Neb. Theh family later moved to
    Spokane where he attended
    Grant Elementary and Lewis and
    Clark High School.
    He was married and divorced.
    As a young man, he played
    French horn in the Spokane
    Philharmonic Orchestra and
    trombone in a small band at the
    Davenport Hotel.
    He left Spokane in 1925 to
    study French horn and organ at
    the New England Conservatory of
    Music in Boston. While in Boston,
    he played with the Conservatory
    Orchestra.
    He received a bachelor's
    degree in organ teaching in 1940
    from the St. Louis Institute of
    Music in Clayton, Mo. He earned
    a master's degree in composition
    in 1942 from the University of
    Michigan in Ann Arbor. From
    1942-51 he was a professor of
    music at Illinois Wesleyan
    University in Bloomington.
    During that time,, he played
    French horn with the St. Louis
    Symphony Orchestra.
    He wa a professor of music at
    Washington State College, now
    WSU, in Pullman from 1951-71
    and taught music theory, organ
    and French horn. After retire-
    ment, he moved to Spokane and
    later to Cheney, Wash., where he
    was the organist for many years
    at Cheney United Methodist
    Church. He was a member of the
    order of Freemasons.
    He is survived by a sister,
    Jessie Wilson of Seattle; two sons,
    Roger Scott of Fremont,, Calif. and
    George Larkham Scott IV of
    Phoenix; a daughter, Shannon
    Wade of Clearlake, Calif; and four
    grandchildren.
    A memorial service wil be
    held at 2 p.m. on May 12 at
    Cheney United Methodist
    Church. Cheney Funeral Chapel
    is in charge of arrangements.
    The family suggests memori-
    als may be made to the Cheney
