    Thomas L. Carlson, "Trader Tom", age 87, of Wheatfield, on Friday, June 13, 2014. Born in Brockway, PA on May 23, 1927 to Evald (Swede) and Harriett (Hood) Carlson.
    He moved to Niagara County in 1943 and served in the U.S. Navy in 1944 at Sampson Naval Base. Tom was employed at Wurlitzer for four years where he met his late wife, Margaret (Huffman) Carlson, who was called to her heavenly home on October 30, 2003 after 58 years marriage. He was employed at Durez (ONY/Hooker) for 35 years where he served as an officer in the Durez Local Union, retiring in 1983. Tom was a member of St. James Ev. Lutheran Church in Bergholz and served many years on their finance committee. He loved to bowl with the Wheatfield Seniors, golf in the Hooker (OXY) Retirees League and pitch horseshoes in the American Legion Wheatfield Post league, of which he was a member for 49 years. He was well known as "Trader Tom" on the local WLVL radio show and loved collecting and bargaining with fellow collectors. He had special interest in Niagara County milk bottles, carriers and cans; marbles, wood planes, wooden shaft golf clubs and other tools and antiques. Tom was known for purchasing fabric, thread and yarn at garage sales and donating it to several local churches for their use in making quilts and prayer shawls.
    Survivors include four children, Victoria (Harris) Wienke of Hamburg, NY, Richard L. Carlson of St. Louis, MO, Harry (Lois) Carlson of Lockport and Thomas J. Carlson of Bergholz; a sister, Harriett (Gene) Pietak of Rochester, NY; seven grandchildren, Lori Wienke, Amy (Bryan) Flynn, Nicole (Chad) Ammon, Erica (Kevin) Romero, Angela (Chris) Connor, Aaron (Delicia) Carlson and Amber (Darrell) Keith; and eight great-grandchildren, Joshua and Emily Ammon, Devyn Romero, Nolan and Ashlyn Connor, Tylee and Cabe Carlson and Elyanna Keith. Also predeceased by a sister, Catherine (Jack) Chittister; and a brother, William Carlson.
    Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME (731-3234), 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Tuesday, June 17th from 4-8 PM. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Jeff Milsten on Wednesday, June 18th at 11:00 AM in St. James Ev. Lutheran Church, corner Niagara Road and Rohr Street in Bergholz. Interment will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. James Ev. Lutheran Church Building Fund.

    Margaret A. Carlson, 77, who worked as a riveter at Curtiss-Wright, North Tonawanda, during World War II, died Thursday (Oct. 30, 2003) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda, after a brief illness.
    Born Margaret Huffman in Oak Ridge, Pa., she attended schools in Pennsylvania. She moved to this area in 1943 and went to work making airplane parts during the war.
    For 47 years, Mrs. Carlson was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of Wheatfield Senior Citizens and enjoyed sewing, gardening and crafts.
    Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Thomas L.; a daughter, Victoria Wienke of Elma; three sons, Richard of St. Louis, Harry of Lockport and Thomas J. of Bergholz; two sisters, Louise Comly and Mildred Miller, both of Pennsylvania; a brother, Harry Huffman of Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday in St. James Church, Niagara Road and Rohr Street. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery
