    Louis A. Pfohl, 91, of Lockport Road, died on Wednesday (April 19, 2000) after being stricken ill at home with an apparent heart attack.
    He was born Jun 28, 1908 in Sanborn, the son of John and Eleonore (Fahrnwald) Pfohl.
    Mr. Pfohl served during World War II with the United States Army, 8th Air Force, where he attained the rank of sergeant.
    He was employed at Carborundum Co. in the abrasive department as a stock handler for more than 40 years and also had worked on the family farm on Walmore Road for many years.
    Mr. Pfohl was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore Road, where he had served as Elder and a member of the church choir for more than 50 years.
    He was a past commander of Post 969, American Legion, Sanborn, and exempt member of the Sanborn Fire Company; a member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club; and the Carborundum Alumni Association.
    “Uncle Louie,” as he was affectionately referred to by many in the Sanborn area enjoyed collecting black walnuts, cracking them and giving them to friends.
    He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing baseball in his early years and watching in his later years.
    He is survived by three sisters, Verone Haseley, Lizzie Haseley and Eleonore Craft all of Sanborn; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.
    He was the brother of the late Minnie Kroening, Martha Haseley, Sigmond (sic) Pfohl, the Rev. John Pfohl and Max Pfohl.
    Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6:30 - 9:30 today at the Rhooney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, where the Sanborn Fire Company will conduct a memorial service at 9:30 p.m. The rev. Bruce M. Gamaché will conduct services at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road. Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield.
    Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church ; or to the St. Peter Lutheran Church School Building Fund.

    Louis A. Pfohl, a lifelong resident of Sanborn who was affectionately known as "Uncle Louis," died in his home Wednesday (April 19, 2000) after apparently suffering a heart attack. He was 91.
    He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 8th Air Force, where he attained the rank of sergeant.

    A memorial service will be held by the Sanborn Fire Company at 9:30 P.M. today in Rhoney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road.
    Services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday in St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road. Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield.

    WALMORE June 21 - The funeral of Mrs John Pfohl, 70, of the Walmore Road was held held Tuesday afternoon at St Peter's Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband John and nine children, Rev. John Pfohl of North Freedom. Wisc. Sigmund Pfohl, Niagara Falls. Mrs. Philip Kroening. Mrs Jonas Haseley. Mrs. Marcus Haseley, all of Sanborn. Louis, Max, Eleonore and Mrs. Mervin Haseley, at home. The bearers were Hubert Pfohl, Rudolf Walck, William Walck, Philip Haseley, Eric Haseley, and Harvey Haseley. The flower bearers were Rudolph Kroening, Herman Kroening, Esther Kroening and John Haseley. The Rev. Edward Grabau officiated. Burial was in Walmore cemetery.

    SANBORN. N. Y.- Mrs. Henriette M. Haseley Fahrnwald. 91 years old, widow of August Fahrnwald, died last evening at the family home, Lockport road, after a short Illness. Mrs. Fahrnwald was born in the town of Lewiston and had been a resident of Niagara county all her life. Her husband, a successful farmer, died many years ago. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran church at Walmore and in former years was active in its organizations. Mrs. Fahrnwald is survived by two sons, Fred and Phillip Fahrnwald, at home, one daughter, Mrs. John Pfohl, of Sanborn; one sister, Mrs. Albertina Walck. of Sanborn, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the Lockport road home on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 o'clock at St. Peter's Lutheran church at Walmore. The Rev. Edward Grabau will officiate. Internment will be in Walmore cemetery.
