    Obituary of Lois Griebner

    Lois Rickert Griebner, 85, of Lewiston, NY, passed into the arms of our Lord on Friday, April 1, 2016, at Niagara Hospice in Lockport after a long battle with cancer. Lois was a loving wife to Robert Clarence Griebner, who was taken from her much too soon, and mother to Kristin and James.


    Born on June 20, 1930, in Niagara Falls to Elsie Rickert (Haseley) and Arthur Rickert, Lois had one brother, William Rickert (predeceased 2005). She graduated from LaSalle Jr./Sr. High School in 1948 and soon after went to work at DuPont in Niagara Falls. After her husband passed away, Lois returned to school, attending Niagara County Community College for Business then securing a position with Staff Builders.


    Lois was a strong woman and a pillar of the community. For more than 50 years, she was a very active member of the Lutheran Church of the Messiah in Lewiston as a Sunday School teacher as well as singing in the choir, serving on the women's guild, and being named Church Woman of the Year. She was also an active member of the Lewiston Garden Club, the 48ers group from LaSalle High School, and the Lewiston Historical Society. Lois loved her family and holidays, and family gatherings meant the world to her, as she found great joy in her family, both immediate and extended. Her love of the Lord shined through her.


    Lois is survived by her daughter Kristin Griebner Lathrop (Lloyd), son James Griebner, and two grandsons, George Aron Wright and Robert William Wright. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert (1978) and brother William (2005).


    Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston on Tuesday from 1 - 3 and 5 - 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Lutheran Church of The Messiah, 915 Oneida St., Lewiston, with the Rev. Thomas Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Riverdale Cemetery Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute , PO Box 631, Buffalo, NY 14240 and Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr. Lockport, NY 14094.

    Saturday evening.

    The bride who was escorted
    to the altar by her father wore
    a white nylon tulle over satin
    gown fashioned with a pearl
    studded bodice and a chapellength
    sweep train. A -scalloped .
    veil of double illusion was caught
    to a tulle and lace pillbox encrusted
    with pearls. She carried
    a bouquet of pink Pinocchio
    roses and stcphanotis and wore
    a string of pearls, the gift of the
    bridegroom.
    Miss Betty Swain was maid of
    honor and bridal attendants were
    Miss Katherinc A. Ryan and Mrs.
    Frederic C. Dunning. They were
    gowned in white lace over Nile
    green crystalctte with matching
    jackets and wore rosebud crown
    headpieces. They carried French
    colonial bouquets of pink rosebuds
    and white feathered carnations
    with green ivy sprays.
    Jack Griebner was best man
    for his brother, and seating the
    guests were Richard Griebner,
    William Rickert. Frederic C.
    Dunning and William Krausmann.
    For greeting guests at the reception
    at the Red Coach inn,
    the mother of the bride was
    gowned in shell pink lace, the
    bodice accented with pearls and
    rhinestones and completed with
    blue accessories. Imported Dior
    blue lace and chiffon fashioned
    the gown of the mother of the
    bridegroom with Which she wore
    pink accessories. The ensembles
    of each mother were complemented
    with corsages of pink
    carnations.
    For a honeymoon trip to
    Williamsburg and Virginia Beach,
    Va., the bride departed wearing
    a moss green Jinen sheath dress
    with a matching green and white
    check coat and burnt orange and
    natural straw accessories, set off
    with a corsage of orange gladioli.
    Upon their return, Mr. and
    Mrs. Griebner will be at home
    in Second St., Lewiston.

    Mrs Fanny Rickert 76 years old of 1150 Willow avenue, died in Memorial hospital at 7 35 oclock last night as the result of a cerebral hemorrhege which she suffered Monday night. She was the widow of Charles P. Rickert, a former under-sheriff. Born In Harriston. Ont.. Mrs. Rickert had resided In Niagara Falls for 52 years. She was a member of Rosebud Rebekah Lodge. No 195. Surviving her are a son and two daughters. Arthur C. Rickert. Mrs. Jessie Shorts and Mrs Mildred R. Norris. all of this city, two sisters, Mrs. William Husson. of Guelph, Ont and Mrs. John Little, of Calgary, Alberta and two brothers, William Irwin, of Kitchener. Ont, and John Irwin, of Saulte Ste. Marie. Ont. Six grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held for the family home at 2 30 pm Friday, with the Rev. Ray K Hallin officiating Burial will be in Riverdale cemetery.

    Church Founder, Long Time Falls Resident. Dies
    Gustav W. Haseley. 81. one of the founders of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church here and a descendant of a pioneer Town of Wheatfield family, died last night at his home. 1657 Cleveland avenue. His wife. Mrs. Hulda Mueller Haseley died last March 13. The church was founded at a meeting held at the Haseley home in October. 1898, when the family resided in Ashland avenue. The services were also held there until the small parish, of which the Haseley's were the only married couple, built Its first church. While Mr. Haseley was born at Walmore, June 14. 1865. his father, the late William Haseley was one of the original settlers of the Town or Wheatfield. His mother was ihe late Mrs. Marie Williams Haseley. However. Mr. Haseley resided in the LaSalle section of this city most of his life, operating a small farm for some time. He retired two years ago after being employed as a maintenance workman at the Mathieson Alkali Works. Inc.. for 45 years. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs Fred Loge. Mrs. Raymond G. Allen. Mrs. Arthur Rlckert, Mrs. Elmer Luick and Mrs. Carl Luick; two sons. Benjamin G., and Myron H. Haseley: a brother, John Haseley, all of this city; six sisters. Mrs. Matilda Haseley; Tonawanda; Mrs. Otto Miller and Mrs. Edward Wurl, Martinsville: Mrs. John Ferchen, Town of Wheatfield; Mrs. Martha Quandt. Lockport. and Mrs. Hulda Hartman. this city; 23 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the home at 2:15 p. m.     Mrs. Hulda Mueller Haseley. 77, a charter member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church, which was originally organized at her home here in 1895, died last night at her home, 1657 Cleveland avenue. She had been in ill health for three years. Born at Bergoltz, January 21, 1870, she came to this city 59 years ago, and she was a member of St. Paul's Ladies Aid society for 50 years. On October 26, 1894, she married Gustav W. Haseley, who survives. Other survivors include five daughters and two sons, Mrs. Raymond G. Allen, Mrs. Fred Loge, Mrs. Arthur C. Rickert, Mrs. Elmer L. Luick, Mrs. Carl A. Luick, Benjamin G., and Myron H. Haseley, all of this city; two sisters and a brother, Mrs. David Heuer, Mrs. Anna Walck and David Mueller, of Bergholtz. Nineteen grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m., Monday at the home and a half hour later at the church. The Rev. Leonhard M. Ludwig, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Riverdale cemetery.

    Sanborn. N.Y., Jan. 20.- On Wednesday afternoon was found the body of Wm. A. Hasley at his home in Walmore. From all appearance Mr. Hasley had been dead since last Saturday. The neighbors failing to see him about broke into his home and found his body on the bed. He was fully dressed and it is supposed that he died from asphyxiation. The Funeral was held from the home of Philip Haseley on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. He is survived by three sons.

    Mrs. Maria Haseley, 85 years old, died Saturday at her home in Sanborn. She was the widow of the late William F. Haseley.     John Mueller, 89 years old, of LaSalle
    died yesterday at the home of his daugh-
    ter, Mrs. David Heuer in Bergholtz. He
    had been ill for about two weeks and
    death was due to heart disease and gen-
    eral breaking up due to his extremities.
    The funeral will be held Wednesday after-
    noon at 2 o'clock from his daughter's
    home and interment will be made in the
    cemetery at Bergholtz.
    Mr. Mueller was born at Grimm on the
    Ukernarck in Prussia in 1867 and set-
    tled in Bergholtz while still a young man.
    His wife died about 18 years ago. He is
    survived by eleven children; three sons,
    John, August and Philip or LaSalle, eight
    daughters, Mrs. Augusta Williams of La
    Salle, Mrs. Rosie Goerss and Mrs. Lydia
    Heuer of Wheatfield, Mrs. Martha Metz-
    ber of Oneida, Mrs. Annie Walck and Mrs.
    Lina Walck of Walmore and Mrs. Tina
    Collins and Mrs. Hulda Haseley of this
    city.
