    NORTH TONAWANDA - Alfred E. Schultz, 97, of Nash Road, North Tonawanda, died on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in DeGraff Memorial Hospital. Born March 14, 1913 in Niagara Falls, the son of Lebrecht and Auguste (Voelker) Schultz.

    A graduate of Niagara Falls High School, Al worked in the order department of the bonded division of the Carborundum Company for 33 years, retiring in 1978.

    A lifelong member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls, he served on various church councils and committees, including treasurer for 15 years. Al was a volunteer for Meals On Wheels for 25 years; an avid gardener and was active in bowling and softball for several years.

    Al’s beloved wife of 66 years, Ruth D. Schultz predeceased him in 2004. Survivors include a daughter, Linda J. (Jay) Dillinger of Tampa, FL; two sons, James A. (Connie) Schultz of Fayetteville, GA and Paul T. (Joyce) Schultz of North Tonawanda; a sister, Esther E. Greinert of North Tonawanda; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Edgar Schultz and a sister, Gertrude L. Roesener.

    Friends may call Friday from 3-7 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls. Funeral services Saturday 11 AM in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 18th Street and Cleveland Avenue, Niagara Falls, with the Rev. David C. Hoecker officiating. The interment will be private in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Bergholz.     NIAGARA FALLS - Ruth D. Schultz, who formerly taught millinery classes at the Niagara Falls Adult Education Center, died Sunday in Schoellkopf Health Center after a brief illness. She was 91. Born Ruth Ziemer in Zimmerman, MN, she graduated from high school in Hanover, Ont., and moved to Niagara Falls in 1930. A member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, she was an active member of American Lutheran Church Women, holding several offices in the local and district organizations. Mrs. Schultz enjoyed teaching Sunday school, making quilts, sewing, weaving and gardening. She was a member of the Hyde Park Garden Club, the Niagara County Horticultural Society and Niagara Weavers.     Richard H. Haseley, a Carborundum Co. retiree who served on the board of directors of Niagara Lutheran Home, died Tuesday (Dec. 31, 2002) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston. He was 86.
    A Town of Lewiston native, Haseley worked as a machinist for Carborundum's Coated Abrasives Division in Wheatfield. He retired in the early 1980s after a 42-year career.
    He was an active member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bergholz and served as an elder, trustee and president of the local branch of the Aid Association for Lutherans.
    Haseley was chaplain of Wheatfield Senior Citizens and served nine years as a trustee of Niagara Lutheran Home in Buffalo.
    His wife, Helma DeVantier Haseley, died in 1991.
    Survivors include three daughters, Eileen of Sanborn, Joyce Schultz of North Tonawanda and Sharon Arkins of Amherst; a son, Wayne of Atlanta; five brothers, Marcus, William and Benjamin, all of Sanborn, and Wallace and Albert, both of Wheatfield; a sister, Lydia Stoelting of Wheatfield; nine grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday in St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Niagara Road and Rohr Street, Bergholz. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

    Mrs. Haseley, 71, died Wednesday (Sept. 25, 1991) in her Niagara Falls Boulevard home after a long illness.
    The former Helma E. DeVantier was born in Wheatfield. She was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Altar Committee of the Women of the Church.
    She worked at the former Hens and Kelly store in the Summit Park Mall for eight years.
    She is survived by her husband, Richard H.; three daughters, Eileen of Sanborn, Joyce Schultz of North Tonawanda and Sharon Wendt of Amherst; a son, Wayne of Rochester; a sister, Elnora Pfohl of Sanborn, and six grandsons

    WHEATFIELD - Helma E. DeVantier Haseley, 71, mother of a Sanborn resident died Wednesday, at home.
    Born in Wheatfield, she was the daughter of Albert and Ella Milleville DeVantier.
    Mrs. Haseley and her husband Richard would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct 25,
    A lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church, she was a Sunday school teachers and member of the church Altar Committee and Women of the Church.
    Mrs. Haseley worked for eight years at Hens & Kelly's store at the Summit Park mall.
    Besides her husband, surviving are three daughters, including Eileen of Sanborn, a son; a sister, Elenora Pfohl of Sanborn and six grandsons.
    Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today at DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road.
    Services will be at 11 A.M. Friday at the church with the Rev. David B Menz officiating.
    Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.

    church, Bergholtx, on Saturday, October
    25. at 5 o'clock, by the Rev.
    O. Brass, pastor. The church was
    decorated with vases and baskets
    Of fall flowers. The musical setting
    was provided by Mr. Theodore Grabau,
    organist. Two sacred selections
    were rendered by Miss Helen Mlllevllle.
    Miss DeVantler is the daughter
    of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. DeVantler,
    of the Niagara Falls boulevard, and
    Mr. Haseley is a son of Mrs. Albert
    Haseley, of the Saunders Settlement
    road, Sanborn.
    The bride's wedding gown was of
    Ivory slipper satin, fashioned with
    long sleeves, lace inserts at the
    shoulders and neckline and a row
    of tiny buttons from the neck to the
    waistline in the back and bad a
    long train. Her illusion veil was
    caught with a wreath of orange
    blossoms and her bouquet was of
    white roses, gardenias and lilles-ofthe-
    valley.
    Mrs. Erwin Pfohl, the bride's only
    sister, acted as matron of honor and
    Miss Elsie Mtlleville as bridesmaid.
    The color scheme of their gowns,
    bouquets and floral headdresses was
    carried out in Talisman and white.
    The groom was attended by Mr.
    Erwin Pfohl and Mr. Benjamin
    Haseley. The ushers were Messrs.
    Albert Haseley and Erwin Beutel.
    A wedding dinner was served at
    the home of the bride to the members
    of the immediate families.
    After November 1 Mr. and Mrs.
    Haseley will reside in their newlyerected
    home in the Niagara Palls
    boulevard.

    Leader of St. Paul's Lutheran Congregation Victim of Long Illness
    The Rev. Gustav H. Ziemer, 54, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church, Cleveland avenue and Eighteenth street, died in the Buffalo General hospital yesterday afternoon. He had been ill since last December. Born July 14. 1889. at Waltham, Minn., the Rev. Mr. Ziemer graduated from the Martin Luther Theological seminary at Buffalo and was ordained to the ministry in 1912. He served pastorates at Livonia. Minn., from 1912 to 1917, and at Neustadt, Ont.. from 1917 to 1930. Coming to Niagara Falls in the latter year, he had been pastor of St. Paul's church since and had acquired a leading position in church affairs here. He was president of the Buffalo Conference of the American Lutheran church for the last nine years and was vice president of the Eastern district of the church since 1930. He was married in November. 1912. to Miss Amanda Baehre. of Buffalo, who survives him. He is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Alfred Schultz, of 2430 Linwood avenue, this city; two sons. Lieutenant Frederick Ziemer, with the U. S. Army in California, and LtJg. Arnold Ziemer at the Ottumwa Naval Air station in Iowa; his father. Henry Ziemer. of Waltham. Minn : five brothers. William and Oscar Ziemer. of Iron River. WI; Samuel Ziemer. of Galesville. WI.: Arnold Ziemer, of Blair. WI., and Herbert Ziemer in California, and three sisters, Mrs. Ray Hildreth. of Redlands, Calif, and Mrs Adolph Wertz and Miss Hilda Ziemer. of Sargeant, Minn. Three grandchildren also survive.     Albert P. Haseley Dies at 70 Years
    SANBORN, Feb. 6-Albert P. Haseley, 70 years old, husband of Mrs. Anna Ferchen Haseley, died yesterday at the family home in the Saunders Settlement road.
    Mr. Haseley was a farmer all his life and was actively engaged in operating his farm until ill health prevented about a year ago. Previous to this he had taken an active interest in Sanborn village affairs. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran church at Walmore and was formerly active in its organizations.
    Besides his wife, Mr. Haseley is survived by seven sons, Norman, Marcus, Wallace, William, Richard, Benjamin and Albert, all of Sanborn: two daughters, Lydia Haseley and Mrs. Irwin Beutel, of Sanborn; three grandchildren, four brothers and seven sisters, all of this vicinity.
    Funeral services will be held from the family home on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 at St. Peter's Lutheran church at Walmore. The Rev. Edward A. Grabau will officiate and interment will be in the Walmore cemetery.

    Sanborn-Mrs. Anna A Haseley, 94, of 2208 Saunders Settlement Road died in DeVeaux Manor Nursing Home, Niagara Falls, Tuesday (Feb 1, 1977)
    A native of Bergholz, she lived in the Sanborn area most of her life. She was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Her husband, Albert P. Haseley, predeceased her.
    She is survived by seven sons, Norman Haseley of Niagara Falls, Marcus, William Benjamin and Albert Haseley, all of Sanborn, Wallace and Richard Haseley , both of Niagara Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Lydia Stoelting of Niagara Falls; 32 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 P.M. at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church with the rev. Paul F. Wittenberg officiating.
    Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
    Friends may call at the Rhoney Funeral Home, Sanborn from 7 to 9 P.M. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday.
    Contributions to Lutheran Vespers are acceptable as tribute, the family said.

    DeVantier Funeral Tuesday Afternoon
    LA SALLE, May l6.-Mrs. Ella DeVantier, nee Milleville, 37 years old of the Bergholtz road, died Saturday, May 14, after a short illness. The funeral services will be held tomorrow from the home at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 from the St. James Lutheran church. The Rev. O. Bruss will officiate. Mrs. DeVantier was one of the best known of the younger residents of the Bergholtz road district and her loss will be mourned by a wide circle of friends. She is survived by her husband, Albert P. DeVantier, two daughters, Eleanor and Helma, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Milleville, and the following brothers and sisters: Hugo, Carl, Martin, Mrs. Edward R. DeVantier, Mrs. John N. Nueller (sic), Jr., Helen and Eslie (sic) of La Salle, Mrs. Alfred E. Walck, of St. Pau1. Minn.. and Edgar Milleville of Buffalo.

    BERGHOLTZ, May 19.-Mrs. Ella De Vantier, nee Millerville (sic), 37 years old, who died at the family home on Niagara street last Saturday evening, May 14th, after a short illness, removes one of the most well known residents of Niagara County, whose life was in every respect an exemplification of Christianity and civility. Had she lived, she would have celebrated her 38th birthday on Friday, May 20th. The funeral services were held from the home on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and from the St. Jacob church at 2.30 o'clock. The Rev. Otto Bruss officiated. Mrs. De Vantier will be sadly missed by all her old and new friends, and will be deeply mourned by her husband, Albert De Vantier, two young daughters, Eleanor and Helma, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugo, Carl, Edgar and Martin and five sisters, Mrs. Rev. Alfred Walck of St. Paul, MN, Mrs. Edward De Vantier. Mrs. John Mueller. Jr., and the Misses Helene and Elsie Milleville. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Pall bearers were: Herbert Millville (sic), Erich Ferchen, Edward Zimermann (sic), Hugo De Vantier, Theodor Schmidt and Philip Jagow. Burial was on the St. Jacob's cemetery.
