TUCSON, AZ - Hilda Bertha Ferchen (nee Wienke), age 100, of Tucson, AZ, entered her eternal rest on August 2, 2010, in LaCanada Care Center, Tucson, AZ. She was a former resident of the Town of Wheatfield and had resided in Arizona since 1973. She was born May 8, 1910, in the Town of Lewiston, and was the daughter of Adolph and Bertha Wienke (nee Haseley). She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Bergholz, and the Ladies Aid Society. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, playing bingo and traveling.

Hilda was the wife of the late Hubert Ferchen, who died in 1989; they were married June 11, 1933, in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Sanborn. Beloved mother of Audrey (Glenn) Schmidli of Wheatfield; grandmother of Kenneth (Vicky) Schmidli of Black Hawk, CO, Mark Schmidli of Niagara Falls, Darleen (John) Finn of North Tonawanda and Doreen (Richard) Parisse of Wilson. Great-grandmother of Brittany Schmidli, Jacob Parisse, Michael Finn and Lindsey Parisse. Sister of the late Walter and Clarence Wienke. Aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., in North Tonawanda on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 AM from St. James Lutheran Church, 2437 Niagara Rd., Bergholz, the Rev. Jeff Milsten will officiate. Interment in St. James Lutheran Cemetery. died April 9, 1963 at the Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She is the wife of the late John F. Ferchen who died June 2, 1958. Survivors are 6 daughters, Mrs. Grover Ziehm, Mrs. Rudolph Zimmerman, Mrs. Alfred Gensler, Mrs. Walter Thiemecke, all of the Town of Wheatfield, Mrs. Walter Wienke of Sanborn and Mrs. William Clayton of Ft. Erie, Ontario, 3 sons, Hubert, Walter and Fremont, all of the Town of Wheatfield. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. SANBORN - Adolph G. Wienke, 95, of 2652 Saunders Settlement Road, died Saturday (Oct. 2, 1976) in Grand Island Manor after a long illness. He was born in Stateen, Germany, and came to this country and the Town of Wheatfield at the age of four. He moved to Sanborn in 1903. He operated a farm on Saunders Settlement for most of his life prior to retiring. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore, and had served as a trustee of the church. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau.
Survivors include two sons, Walter A. and Clarence E. of Sanborn; one daughter, Mrs. Hubert (Hilda) Ferchen, Wheatfield; one brother, Reinhard Wienke, Wheatfield; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Jagow of Niagara Falls, Mrs. Emma Haseley and Mrs. Esther Moll, both of Wheatfield, and five grandchildren. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Crilley officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the Rhoney Funeral Home, Sanborn, from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Contributions may be made to the St. Peter's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the Lutheran Vespers as tribute the family said.

Mrs. Bertha Wienke
SANBORN-Mrs. Bertha A. Wienke, 83, of 2652 Saunders Settlement Road; died unexpectedly at her home Monday (Jun.12, 1967) after suffering a heart attack. She had been in ill health for the last year.
Born in the Town of Lewiston March 20, 1884, she was the daughter of August and Auguste Hellert Haseley. She had been a resident at the Saunders Settlement address for the last 56 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Walmore.
Survivors include her husband, Adolph; two sons, Walter A. and Clarence E. Wienke, both of Sanborn; a daughter, Mrs. Hubert (Hilda) Ferchen, Niagara Falls, and a brother, Edward Hasley (sic) Niagara Falls; also five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Service's will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday a St. Peter's Church. The Rev. Alfred W. Walck officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Wednesday, and from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
