    K. Gilbert Kroening, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, in Buffalo General Hospital. He was born in Sanborn, on February 25, 1935, the son of the late Edwin H. and Helen (Haseley) Kroening.Mr. Kroening was a graduate of Wilson High School, Buffalo State Teacher College and Niagara University. He was an industrial arts teacher and served as an administrator at Niagara Wheatfield High School for 37 years, before retiring in 1995. Mr. Kroening was a member of the Sanborn Fire Co. Band for over 60 years and an active member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church,North Ridge. He served on the Niagara Wheatfield's 50th Anniversary Committee and was an honorary member of the Sanborn Fire Co. His life centered around his family and friends. He was always there to lend a helping hand for those in need. He enjoyed gardening and was an antique car enthusiast.Mr. Kroening is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Norma (Rohring), they were married on June 16, 1956; also two sons, Brent M. (Lynn)Kroening of Wheatfield and Todd R. Kroening of Buffalo, Erie County, NY; one daughter, Wendy L. (David) Warchocki of Wheatfield; five grandchildren,Joshua, Joelle, Jennifer, Steven and Christian; one sister, Gladys (late Benjamin) Haseley; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Harold (Janet) Kroening and SharonKroening.The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, from 7-9 PM Friday and 2-4 and 7-9 PM Saturday.     SANBORN - Edwin H. Kroening, 72, of 2849 Saunders Settlement Road was pronounced dead on arrival at Memorial Medical Center, Niagara Falls, Monday (Feb. 11, 1974) after suffering an apparent heart attack at work. Mr. Kroening Was a native of the Town of Niagara and had lived in Sanborn for the last 50 years, where he had owned and operated Kroening Garage on Route 31 for the last 49 years. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore; a charter member of the Sanborn Lions Club and an honorary member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co.
    He is survived by his wife, Helen Haseley Kroening; two sons, Harold and Gilbert Kroening; and a daughter, Mrs. Benjamin (Gladys) Haseley, all of Sanborn. He was the father of the late Miss Sharon L. Kroening. Also surviving are nine grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore. The Rev. Harold L. Baum will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
    The family will be present at the Rhoney Funeral Home, Inc., Sanborn, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Wednesday.
    Members of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire County, will meet at the funeral home Wednesday at 8 p.m. Contributions may be made to the St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church memorial fund, the family said.

    GRAND ISLAND - Helen E. Kroening, 83, formerly of Shenk Road, Sanborn, died Sunday (June 25, 1995) in the Riverwood Health Care Center after a lengthy illness.
    The Sanborn native was born June 11, 1912, the daughter of Edward and Hulda (Walck) Haseley.
    She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a member of the Sanbornite Senior Citizens.
    Her husband, Edwin H. Kroening, died Feb. 11, 1974.
    She is survived by two sons, Gilbert Kroening of Ransomville and Harold Kroening of Sanborn; a daughter, Gladys Haseley of Sanborn; a sister, June Camman of Bergholz; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
    She was the mother of the late Sharon L. Kroening; sister of the late Martin Haseley, Chester Haseley and Martha DeVantier; and grandmother of the late Bruce Kroening.
    Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Rhoney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn. Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore Road, Sanborn, with the Rev. Ronald Majeroni officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield.

    WILSON, April 22.-Louis Rohring,
    74 years old, died at the home of his
    brother, William C. Rohring, on Lake
    street, Saturday afternoon. Mr. Roh-
    ring had been ill since last November
    but was confined to his bed only one
    week.
    He was born at Axelshoff. Germany
    in 1860 and came here In 1882.
    With the exception of four years in
    Pennsylvania and one year In Roches-
    ter, he had spent his entire life in
    this township. He was a farmer and
    a member of St. Peter's Lutheran
    church of North Ridge.
    In 1886 he married Lena Rohring,
    who died three years ago. He is sur-
    vived by three sons, Edward, Walter,
    and Howard, all of Wilson; ten grand-
    children; one great grandchild; two
    brothers, John C., of North East, Pa.,
    and William C. of Wilson, at whose
    home he died, and one sister. Mrs.
    Hannah Schrader. of Lockport.
    The funeral wlll be held Tuesday
    afternoon at 1:30 from the William
    C. Rohring home and at 2 o'clock
    from St. Peter's church. Rev. John
    P. Barkow will officiate and burial
    will be in St. Peter's Lutheran ceme-
    tery, North Ridge.
