Kroening, K. Gilbert
K. Gilbert Kroening, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, in Buffalo General Hospital. He was born in Sanborn, on February 25, 1935, the son of the late Edwin H. and Helen (Haseley) Kroening.Mr. Kroening was a graduate of Wilson High School, Buffalo State Teacher College and Niagara University. He was an industrial arts teacher and served as an administrator at Niagara Wheatfield High School for 37 years, before retiring in 1995. Mr. Kroening was a member of the Sanborn Fire Co. Band for over 60 years and an active member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church,North Ridge. He served on the Niagara Wheatfield's 50th Anniversary Committee and was an honorary member of the Sanborn Fire Co. His life centered around his family and friends. He was always there to lend a helping hand for those in need. He enjoyed gardening and was an antique car enthusiast.Mr. Kroening is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Norma (Rohring), they were married on June 16, 1956; also two sons, Brent M. (Lynn)Kroening of Wheatfield and Todd R. Kroening of Buffalo, Erie County, NY; one daughter, Wendy L. (David) Warchocki of Wheatfield; five grandchildren,Joshua, Joelle, Jennifer, Steven and Christian; one sister, Gladys (late Benjamin) Haseley; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Harold (Janet) Kroening and SharonKroening.The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, from 7-9 PM Friday and 2-4 and 7-9 PM Saturday. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:00 PM at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church (North Ridge), 4169 Church Road, Lockport, with the Rev. R. Peter Vogeler officiating. SANBORN - Edwin H. Kroening, 72, of 2849 Saunders Settlement Road was pronounced dead on arrival at Memorial Medical Center, Niagara Falls, Monday (Feb. 11, 1974) after suffering an apparent heart attack at work. Mr. Kroening Was a native of the Town of Niagara and had lived in Sanborn for the last 50 years, where he had owned and operated Kroening Garage on Route 31 for the last 49 years. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore; a charter member of the Sanborn Lions Club and an honorary member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Haseley Kroening; two sons, Harold and Gilbert Kroening; and a daughter, Mrs. Benjamin (Gladys) Haseley, all of Sanborn. He was the father of the late Miss Sharon L. Kroening. Also surviving are nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore. The Rev. Harold L. Baum will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
The family will be present at the Rhoney Funeral Home, Inc., Sanborn, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Wednesday.
Members of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire County, will meet at the funeral home Wednesday at 8 p.m. Contributions may be made to the St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church memorial fund, the family said.

GRAND ISLAND - Helen E. Kroening, 83, formerly of Shenk Road, Sanborn, died Sunday (June 25, 1995) in the Riverwood Health Care Center after a lengthy illness.
The Sanborn native was born June 11, 1912, the daughter of Edward and Hulda (Walck) Haseley.
She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a member of the Sanbornite Senior Citizens.
Her husband, Edwin H. Kroening, died Feb. 11, 1974.
She is survived by two sons, Gilbert Kroening of Ransomville and Harold Kroening of Sanborn; a daughter, Gladys Haseley of Sanborn; a sister, June Camman of Bergholz; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Sharon L. Kroening; sister of the late Martin Haseley, Chester Haseley and Martha DeVantier; and grandmother of the late Bruce Kroening.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Rhoney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn. Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore Road, Sanborn, with the Rev. Ronald Majeroni officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, or its Entrance Fund.

Services for Helen E. Kroening, 83, formerly of Shenk Road, will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road.
She died Sunday (June 25, 1995) in Riverwood Health Care Center, Grand Island, after a long illness. The former Helen Haseley was born in Sanborn. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a member of the Sanbornite Senior Citizens. Her husband, Edwin H., died in 1974.

A lifelong member here; was married in 1896 to Carl Kroening who died in 1901, leaving her with 3 small sons; the eldest son John died in 1916 at age of 19 from Typhoid; after 1922 she made her home with her son Elmer, east of Pekin; suffered a number of light strokes since Sept. 1954 and was bedridden for 4 months (Sept. 16, '54, till day of death; fell peacefully asleep. Survivors: 2 sons (Elmer and Edwin); one brother, Mr. John Pfohl; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

SANBORN. March 8. - Funeral services for Edward W. Haseley. 84, of Saunders Settlement Road, who died March 2 at Memorial Hospital Niagara Falls, following a long Illness, were held Thursday at the home at 2 p. m and at St. Peters Church, Walmore. at 3:30 o'clock. The bearers were Martin Pfohl, Howard Walck, Rudolph Walck. Alfred Haseley, Kermit Haseley and Roy Marquart. The Rev. Edward Grabau officiated. Interment was in Walmore cemetery.

SANBORN - Mrs. Hulda Haseley, 84, of 2744 Saunders Settlement Road, died today (Nov. 13, 1972) in Memorial Medical Center alter short. illness. She was a native of the Town of Wheatfield and was a lifelong resident She was the wife of the late Edward W. Haseley who died in 1947. Survivors include a son, Chester A. Haseley of Sanborn; three daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Helen) Kroening Sanborn, Mrs. Gerry (Martha) DeVantier and Mrs. Warren (June) Camann, both of Niagara Falls; two brothers, Philip C. Walck and Paul Walck, both of Sanborn, nine grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Martin E. Haseley who died in 1968. Funeral service will be held at St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore, at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. D L. Baum officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. WILSON, April 22.-Louis Rohring,
74 years old, died at the home of his
brother, William C. Rohring, on Lake
street, Saturday afternoon. Mr. Roh-
ring had been ill since last November
but was confined to his bed only one
week.
He was born at Axelshoff. Germany
in 1860 and came here In 1882.
With the exception of four years in
Pennsylvania and one year In Roches-
ter, he had spent his entire life in
this township. He was a farmer and
a member of St. Peter's Lutheran
church of North Ridge.
In 1886 he married Lena Rohring,
who died three years ago. He is sur-
vived by three sons, Edward, Walter,
and Howard, all of Wilson; ten grand-
children; one great grandchild; two
brothers, John C., of North East, Pa.,
and William C. of Wilson, at whose
home he died, and one sister. Mrs.
Hannah Schrader. of Lockport.
The funeral wlll be held Tuesday
afternoon at 1:30 from the William
C. Rohring home and at 2 o'clock
from St. Peter's church. Rev. John
P. Barkow will officiate and burial
will be in St. Peter's Lutheran ceme-
tery, North Ridge.
