    RANSOMVILLE — Rose A. Kroening, of Ransomville, NY, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2012, in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence, Lewiston, NY. She was born in the Town of Wheatfield, on February 2, 1925, the daughter of the late Charles and Arline (Jacobs) Zastrow. Mrs. Kroening was employed at Mt. View Health Facility for many years. She was a volunteer with LADD in Niagara Falls and was a member of the Ladies Aide at St. Andrew's Church. Mrs. Kroening enjoyed gardening around her home. She was the wife of the late Raymond C. Kroening, who died in October of 1980.

    Mrs. Kroening is survived by three sons, Ronald (Sandra) Kroening, David (Sue) Kroening and Mark (Donna) Kroening, all of Ransomville, NY; two daughters-in-law, Janelle Kroening and Debbie Kroening; one sister, Doris Tudor. Also survived by fourteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Donald and Gary Kroening, sister of the late Chester, Robert, LeRoy and Willard Zastrow.

    The family will be present on Sunday from 4-8 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 3229 Upper Mountain Road, Sanborn, NY, with Rev. R. Peter Vogeler officiating. Flower are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in her name to St. Andrew Church. Interment at St. Andrew Lutheran, Town of Cambria, NY.

    Elmer Kroening, Board Chief, Dies
    SANBORN-Elmer F. Kroening, 67, of 4181 Upper. Mountain Road, prominent in civic and church affairs here and, chairman of the Planning Board in the Town of Cambria, died Friday (June 17, 1966) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. Born in the Town of Niagara, he was the son of the late Carl and Anna Pfohl Kroening. His wife, the former Elsie Walck Kroening, died in September of 1965, Mr. Kroening was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Pekin, a member of the Board of Elders, the Church Council, the Lutheran Laymen's League of Western New York, and a past trustee of the church. He also was an exempt member of the Pekin Volunteer Fire Company, a member of the Niagara County Farm Bureau Extension Service, a former director of the National Grape Cooperative and a former board member of the Starpoint Central School. He was a retired farmer. Surviving are five sons, John and Herbert, of Lockport; Raymond; of Ransomville, and Harry and Martin Kroening of Sanborn; two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Haseley, Sanborn, and Mrs. Dennis DeVantier, of Bergholtz; a brother, Edward Kroening, of Sanborn, and 28 grandchildren. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Sunday at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home, Sanborn, and from noon until 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Pekin, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. by Rev. LaVerne J. Fitch. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery.

    SANBORN - Funeral services for Mrs. Elmer (Elsie) Kroening, 63, of 4181 Upper Mountain Road, were held today at 2 p.m. in St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Pekin by Rev. LaVerne J. Fitch. Burial was in St. Andrew's Cemetery.
    Mrs. Kroening died Saturday (Sept. 4, 1965) in Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
    Surviving, besides her husband Elmer; are five sons, Martin and Harry Kroening of Sanborn, John and Herbert Kroening of Lockport, and Raymond Kroening of Ransomville; two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Haseley of Sanborn and Mrs. Dennis DeVantier of Bergholtz. Also surviving are two brothers, Edward and Erwin Walck of Sanborn; two sisters, Mrs. William Walck and Mrs. Martin Pfohl of Sanborn; and 25 grandchildren. The family and friends were present at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home in Sanborn on Sunday and Monday.

    service for Fred W. Walck, 80.
    of Saunders Settlement road, who
    died on Sunday at Buffalo, was held
    Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the family
    home and at 2:30 at St. Peter's
    church, Walmore road. The Rev,
    Martin Pempeit officiated. Interment
    was in Si. Peter's cemetery.
    Mr. Walck was a son of the
    late Fred and Albertina Zimmerman
    Walck and husband of the late
    Helena Muler Walck.
    He is survived by three daughters.
    Mrs. William Walck, Mrs. Elmer
    Kroening, Mrs. Martin Pfohl; two
    sons. Edward and Ervsin Walck: a
    brother. Benjamin Walck. and sister,
    Mrs. Augusta Retzlaff. all of
    Sanborn; also 21 grandchildren.
    The bearers included Arnold
    Walck. Gilbert Walck. Melvin
    Pfohl. Edgar Walck; John Kroening
    and Martin Kroening.
    After his marriage to Helena
    Mueller. Mr. Walck purchased the
    farm on Saunders Settlement road
    from the late A. M. Barber which
    he operated until a few years ago,
    when he retired and his son Erwin
    W'alck, took over the farm. Mrs.
    Walck died in 1932. Mr. W'alck was
    ap active member of St. Peter's
    church.

    William Jacobs was delightfully surprised
    on Sunday, the occasion being
    his fiftieth birthday. Friends and relatives
    were present from Niagara -Falls.
    Lewiston. Lockport. Ransomville,

    Ridge. The oldest guest was his mother,
    Mrs. Minnie Jacobs of Lewiston,
    who Is 82 years eld. The youngest one
    present was a grand-son. Le Roy Zastrow,
    aged two years, of Martinsville.

    A most delicious supper was served
    to the 52 guests from a beautiful apipolnted

    white with a bounteous birthday cake
    as a center-piece.
    Mr. Jacobs received many beautiful
    and useful gifts. After a pleasant
    evening the guests departed wishing
    ihelr host many more happy birthdays.
