    Herbert E. Kroening, 75, a councilman for the Town of Cambria, died unexpectedly Monday (Jan. 29, 2001) in Lockport Memorial Hospital.
    Born in Lewiston, he operated a dairy farm in Cambria for more than 50 years.
    He was serving his third term on the Cambria Town Board at the time of his death.
    Kroening was a member of Cambria Volunteer Fire Company for 52 years and served on the town's Agriculture Stabilization Committee for more than 30 years. He also was a committeeman with the National Grape Co-op (Welch's) and a director with Niagara Milk Producers for 13 years.
    He was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Lockport.
    He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Jeanette Schuman; two daughters, Kathy Kemble and Bonnie Glenn, both of Lockport; a son, Randy of Wilson; two brothers, Harry and Martin of Sanborn; two sisters, Hazel Haseley of Sanborn and Doris DeVantier of Bergholz; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday in Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 6965 Chestnut Ridge Road, Lockport. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria

    TOWN OF CAMBRIA —
    Jeanette S. (Schuman) Kroening, age 88 of Upper Mountain Road, Town of Cambria, went home to be with her Lord on May 1, 2013 while at the Niagara Hospice House, Lockport. Born on August 20, 1924 in Wilson, NY, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Gertrude (Beutel) Schuman. Jeanette was the wife of the late Herbert E. Kroening, who entered into rest on January 29, 2001. They were united in marriage on May 27, 1950.
    Jeanette was a 1941 graduate of Wilson High School, and the Kelley Business Institute, in 1942. Her employment included The Dobby Foundry, E.I. DuPont Company, and Bell Aircraft Corp. She was very active in the local 4-H Club, winning many trips and awards. Jeanette was also a member of the local Cambria Homemakers, a social member of the Harrison Retirees Travel Club, The Welch Cooperative, and the Dale Association. Jeanette was confirmed on October 5, 1947 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wilson, and presently a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Pekin. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, playing Bingo and shared great comfort in being with family and friends.
    Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen (Gary) Kemble and Bonnie (Robert) Glenn, both of Lockport; a son, Randy (Rosemary) Kroening of Wilson; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends; including her faithful companion, Milford C. Scharlau.
    Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME (731-3234), 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Saturday from 7-9 PM and on Sunday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Services will be conducted by the Rev. R.P. Vogeler, on Monday at 10:30 AM in St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Upper Mountain Road in Pekin. Interment will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew Lutheran Church, or Niagara Hospice.

She was the wife of the late Edward Guenther who died in February of 2022.     SANBORN-Elmer F. Kroening, 67, of 4181 Upper. Mountain Road, prominent in civic and church affairs here and, chairman of the Planning Board in the Town of Cambria, died Friday (June 17, 1966) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. Born in the Town of Niagara, he was the son of the late Carl and Anna Pfohl Kroening. His wife, the former Elsie Walck Kroening, died in September of 1965, Mr. Kroening was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Pekin, a member of the Board of Elders, the Church Council, the Lutheran Laymen's League of Western New York, and a past trustee of the church. He also was an exempt member of the Pekin Volunteer Fire Company, a member of the Niagara County Farm Bureau Extension Service, a former director of the National Grape Cooperative and a former board member of the Starpoint Central School. He was a retired farmer. Surviving are five sons, John and Herbert, of Lockport; Raymond; of Ransomville, and Harry and Martin Kroening of Sanborn; two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Haseley, Sanborn, and Mrs. Dennis DeVantier, of Bergholtz; a brother, Edward Kroening, of Sanborn, and 28 grandchildren.     SANBORN - Funeral services for Mrs. Elmer (Elsie) Kroening, 63, of 4181 Upper Mountain Road, were held today at 2 p.m. in St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Pekin by Rev. LaVerne J. Fitch. Burial was in St. Andrew's Cemetery.
    Mrs. Kroening died Saturday (Sept. 4, 1965) in Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
    Surviving, besides her husband Elmer; are five sons, Martin and Harry Kroening of Sanborn, John and Herbert Kroening of Lockport, and Raymond Kroening of Ransomville; two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Haseley of Sanborn and Mrs. Dennis DeVantier of Bergholtz. Also surviving are two brothers, Edward and Erwin Walck of Sanborn; two sisters, Mrs. William Walck and Mrs. Martin Pfohl of Sanborn; and 25 grandchildren. The family and friends were present at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home in Sanborn on Sunday and Monday.

    WILSON - Mrs. Gertrude Schuman, 70, of 3216 Wilson-Cambria Road, died Sunday (Oct. 31, 1965) at Inter-Community Memorial Hospital, Newfane. She died shortly after being admitted to the hospital after suffering a seizure. Mrs. Schuman was born in Tonawanda, the daughter of August and Louise Praker Beutel, and moved here as a child. She married Herbert Schuman in 1918; She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and of the Wilson Home Circle organization. In addition to , her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Herbert (Jeanette)Kroening, Lockport; a brother, William Beutel, Newfane; a sister, Mrs. Elwin Ahrens, Lockport, and three grandchildren. Funeral, services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Hamilton and Clark Funeral Chapel' and at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Rev. Charles Frederick officiating. Burial wiM be in North Ridge Cemetery. The family said contributions to St. Paul's Lutheran Church wiiH be acceptable as tributes.
