    BUFFALO - Gloria M. (nee Popkey) Elmer, 81, of Elma, NY, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, died on Wednesday, August 3, 2011, in Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Born on October 12, 1929 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mildred (Plumsteel) Popkey.

    Mrs. Elmer was raised in Niagara Falls, NY, attended local schools and graduated from LaSalle High School in 1947. Gloria later earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Sarah Lawrence College. On December 27, 1957, she married David Elmer in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Elmer predeceased her on January 29, 1990. Mrs. Elmer worked as a secretary for Bell Aerospace. Gloria was later employed as a Nursery School Teacher and Licensed Real Estate Agent. In 2006, she moved to Elma, NY. Mrs. Elmer was very active in her community and was an elected member of her homeowners association. Gloria was an avid card player and especially enjoyed playing Bridge. She also liked swimming.

    Mrs. Elmer is survived by three children, Brissen Leigh Elmer of Western NY, David (Beatrice Wotherspoon) Elmer of Newport, RI and Bryan Stokes (Morgan) Elmer of Denver, CO; two grandchildren, Courtney and Kaela; two brothers, Herbert (late Lois) Popkey of South Carolina and Alex (Mickey) Popkey of Missouri; one sister, Jean E. Gilbert of South Carolina and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Gloria was predeceased by three siblings, Kathleen Kazial, Robert Popkey and Jon F. Popkey.

    There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of WNY, 2805 Wehrle Drive, Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221. Arrangements were entrusted to the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (297-9007).

    A very pretty wedding took place
    at the ZIon Lutheran church, September
    18th at 2 o'clock when Mildred
    Plumsteel, daughter of Mr. and
    Mrs. Frederick Plumsteel became
    tho bride of Robert Popkey of this
    city. The bride carried a bouquet of
    bride roses and lilies of the valley,
    showered with white ribbons and
    tiny pink roses, looked lovely In a
    gown of shell balk georgette over
    changeable taffeta giving a straight
    line effect, the skirt being made up
    of several rows of scalloped georgette.
    She wore a large picture hat
    of brown and tan chiffon velvet
    edged with malino and slippers of
    corresponding shades. Her attendant.
    Miss Isabella Haseley of North
    Tonawanda, cousin of the bride, carried
    an arm bouquet of Russel roses
    and wore nile green georgette with
    picture hat to match. Harry Popkey
    attended the groom. The Rev.
    H. Brezlng officiated. After an extended
    motor trip through the Adirondacks,
    Montreal, Ottawa and
    other Canadian cities, Mr. and Mrs.
    Popkey will be at home after October
    9th at the Ogalbe apartments

    Frederick Haseley Dies
    North Tonawanda, May 16.- Frederick Haseley, 81 years old, a veteran of the Civil war, died at his home at No. 275 Stenzel street yesterday after a brief Illness. He was born in Germany and had been most of his life in North Tonawanda. Besides his widow, three sons, Albert, Otto and Edward Haseley, and three daughters. Mrs. Fred Glawf, Mrs. Harry Wilson and Mrs. Fred Plumsteel, survive.

    Fred Haseley of Stenzel street was born in Germany on November 16, 1842, and came to North Tonawanda from Michigan in 1894. He enlisted with his brother in Company K, 26th New York Cavalry, on February 15, 1865. Mr. Haseley served until June 28, 1865, when he was mustered out at Buffalo.

    Friedrich married SCHUELER, Augustine Caroline Wilhelmine on 26 Oct 1871 in Sanborn, Niagara County, NY.     Mrs Augusta Haseley. 78 years old. died yesterday at her home, 1215 Oliver street. She was a life-long resident of North Tonawanda. She was the wife of the late Frederick Haseley. Mrs. Haseley is survived by two sons. Edward and Otto Haseley: three daughters. Mrs. Frederick Glawf. Mrs. Frederick Plumsteel and Mrs. Harry Wilson; eleven grandchildren and the same number of great-grandchildren: five brothers John, Frederick, Henry and Albert Schuler. and three sisters. Mrs. Julius Miller. Mrs. William Broeker and Mrs. Edward Krueger. With the exception of Mrs. Plumsteel. who lives at Niagara Falls, the survivors live in the Tonawandas and immediate vicinity. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence. Burial will be at Elmlawn.
