    Martin F. Pfohl, 88, a retired employee of the former Dobbie Foundry, died Wednesday (Dec. 30, 1992) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston.
    Born in Sanborn, Pfohl worked at the foundry in Niagara Falls for 43 years, retiring in 1966.
    On Feb. 9, he and his wife, the former Viola E. Walck of
    Fairchild Manor in Lewiston, celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.
    He was a member of St. Paul Calvary Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls, where he was once an elder. He lived on Saunders Settlement Road.
    Besides his wife, Pfohl is survived by two sons, Melvin of Niagara Falls and Delbert; two daughters, Marilyn Cornelius of Wellsville and Lorraine Steingasser; a sister, Edna Wienke; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield

    Sanborn native was former church elder
    SANBORN - Martin F. Pfohl, _ 88, of Saunders Settlement Road died Wednesday (Dec. 30, 1992) at Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston.
    The native of Sanborn was born on Feb. 20, 1904, to Albert and Ida (Haseley) Pfohl. He worked at the former Dobbie Foundry in Niagara Falls for 43 years. He retired in 1966.
    Pfohl was a member of St. Paul Calvary Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls, where he was once an elder of the church. On Feb. 9, 1992 he and his wife, Viola E. Walck Pfohl of Fairchild Manor, Lewiston celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.
    Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Melvin Pfohl of Niagara Falls and Delbert Pfohl of Sanborn; two daughters, Marilyn Cornelius of Wellsville, and Lorraine Steingasser of Sanborn; a sister, Edna Wienke of Sanborn; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was the brother of the late Albert Pfuhl. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 P.M. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz. The Rev. Herbert R. Maxwell will conduct services at 11 A.M. Saturday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore Road, Sanborn. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield.
    Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

    Viola E. Pfohl, 90, of Fairchild Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Saunders Settlement Road, Sanborn, who was a homemaker for most of her life, died Tuesday (May 18, 1999) in the nursing home after a long illness.
    The former Viola Walck was born in Sanborn and had lived in Fairchild Manor since 1991.
    Mrs. Pfohl, who enjoyed traveling, was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls, and was active with the church's Altar Guild.
    Her husband, Martin, died in 1992.
    Survivors include two sons, Melvin of Niagara Falls and Delbert of Sanborn; two daughters, Marilyn Cornelius of Wellsville and Lorraine Steingasser of Sanborn; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

    SANBORN-Mrs. Ella E. Kroening, 64, of 2435 Saunders Settlement Road, died today (Aug. 3, 1966) at her home after a long illness.
    Mrs. Kroening was born Aug. 16, 1901 in the Town of Wheatfield, daughter of Albert and Alma Williams DeVantier. She was a lifelong resident of this area.
    Mrs. Kroening was an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid Society of the church.
    Mrs. Kroening is survived by her husband, William E. Kroening; a son, Clyde Kroening, Sanborn; two daughters, Miss JoAnn Kroening, at home, and Mrs. Wilbert (Helen) Schimschack, Niagara Falls; five brothers; Edward, Bernard, Harold and John DeVantier, all of Niagara Falls, and Alfred DeVantier, Sanborn; four sisters, Mrs. John Voelker, Buffalo, Mrs. Fred Loge, and Mrs. Edward Mueller, both of Niagara Falls, and Mrs. John Blank, Sanborn; and one grandson, several nieces and nephews.

    Walmore Farmer Called by Death
    WALMORE, May 12.-Albert A. Pfuhl, 57 years old, well known farmer, died yesterday at the family home here. Funeral services will be held from the home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, standard time, and at 2:30 from St. Peter's Lutheran church, Walmore. Interment will be in Walmore cemetery. Mr. Pfuhl was born on a farm within a half mile of the place where he died and had resided here all his life. He is survived by his wife, Ida Pfuhl; two sons, Albert, Jr.. at home, and Martin, of Niagara Falls; one daughter, Mrs. Clarence Wienke, of Sanborn; three brothers, Ferdinand, John and Anton; and three sisters, Mrs. Carl Haseley, Mrs. William Devantire (sic) and Mrs. Anna Kroenig (sic), all of this vicinity.

    Lockport Road Man Laid to His Final Rest in Walmore Cemetery.
    SANBORN, May 16-Funeral services for Albert A. Pfuhl, aged 57, who died at his home on the Lockport Road on May 11, were held from the home on Sunday at 2 P. M. and from St. Peter's church at 2:30. The bearers were Erich J. Haseley. William DeVantier, Elmer Kroening, William Kroening, Jr., Sigmund Pfuhl, Herbert Pfuhl. Flower bearers were: Erwin Pfuhl Max Pfuhl, Max Haseley, Erwin Walck, Herbert Jagow, Herbert Ferchen, Alfred Haseley, Rudolph Walck, Chester Haseley. Service was conducted by Rev. Edward A. Graubau (sic) and Rev. Alfred Walck, of St. Paul, MN Burial was at Walmore cemetery.

    service for Fred W. Walck, 80.
    of Saunders Settlement road, who
    died on Sunday at Buffalo, was held
    Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the family
    home and at 2:30 at St. Peter's
    church, Walmore road. The Rev,
    Martin Pempeit officiated. Interment
    was in Si. Peter's cemetery.
    Mr. Walck was a son of the
    late Fred and Albertina Zimmerman
    Walck and husband of the late
    Helena Muler Walck.
    He is survived by three daughters.

    After his marriage to Helena
    Mueller. Mr. Walck purchased the
    farm on Saunders Settlement road
    from the late A. M. Barber which
    he operated until a few years ago,
    when he retired and his son Erwin
    W'alck, took over the farm. Mrs.
    Walck died in 1932. Mr. W'alck was
    ap active member of St. Peter's
    church.

    SANBORN, Jan. 24 — Services for William C. Kroening, 84. of Saunders Settlement Road, will be held at 3 o'clock tomorrow at the home, and at 2:10 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial will be in S t Peter's Cemetery. Mr. Kroening, the oldest member of St. Peter's Church, died Sunday at his home. He was a veteran Niagara County orchardist and grain grower. Born in Walmore, as the Lock-port Road area was then known, Mr. Kroening also lived in LaSalle and attended St. Jacobl School at Bergholz. Mr. Kroening is survived by three children, Mrs. Hugo Devantier of Bergholz. William Kroening Jr. , and Mrs. Erwin G. Haseley of Walmore.

    Mrs. Kroening Dies
    Mrs. William Kroening (nee Bertha Pfuhl) well known in this village, died in Memorial Hospital Saturday night, after a serious operation. She was sixty one years old, and is survived by her husband, William Kroening, one son William, and daughter Edna at home and Mrs. Hugo De Vantier of Niagara Street, this village, three grandchildren, four brothers, Ferdinand of Holcottsville (sic), N. Y., John, Anton and Albert of Walmore, and four sisters, Mrs. Christian Wolf Sr., of this village, Mrs. Carl Haseley, Mrs. William De Vantier Sr. and Mrs. Anna Kroening of Walmore. She was well liked by all and leaves a wide circle of friends.

    Was Lifelong Resident of Bergholtz Vicinity.
    BERGHOLTZ, Dec. 11-Albert F. DeVantier, 77 years old, a lifelong and well known resident of the Town of Wheatfield, died yesterday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herbert Stenzel, of the Niagara Falls boulevard. Mr. DeVantier was formerly engaged in farming, having retired about 12 years ago. He was a member of St. James church and in former years took an active interest in church and social affairs in Bergholtz.
    He is survived by six sons, Hugo, Harold and John, of Bergholtz, Edward and Bernard, of Niagara Falls, and Alfred, of Sanborn; five daughters. Mrs. John Voelker, of Buffalo, Mrs. Stenzel. of Bergholtz, Mrs. William Groening (sic), Jr., and Mrs. John Blank, Jr., of Sanborn, and Mrs. Edward Mueller, of Niagara. Falls; 22 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. August Kroening, of Sanborn.
    The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Stenzel home and at 2:30 from St. James church, Bergholtz. The Rev. Otto Bruss will officiate and interment will be in St. James cemetery.

He leaves six sons, Hugo, Harold and John of Bergholtz, Edward and Bernard of Niagara Falls and Alfred of Sanborn; five daughters, Mrs. John Voelker of Buffalo, Mrs. Stenzel of Bergholtz, Mrs. William Kreoning (sic), Jr. and Mrs. John Blank, Jr. of Sanborn, and Mrs. Edward Mueller of Niagara Falls; 22 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. August Kroening of Sanborn. Rites will he held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Stenzel residence and at 2.30 o'clock in the St. James Church in Bergholtz. The Rev. Otto Bruss will officiate. Interment will be in St. James Cemetery

    NORTH TONAWANDA, March 24. Mrs. Alma DeVantier, 50 years old, of tho Niagara Falls boulevard, Bergholz, died Thursday afternoon at the DeGraff Memorial Hospital following an operation for appendicitis. She was a life-long resident of the Town of Wheatfield. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence and half an hour later at St Martin's Church, Bergholz. Rev. Otto Bruss will -conduct the services and interment will be in St Martin's cemetery. Surviving are her husband, Albert F. DeVantier; five daughters. Miss Irene DeVantier and Mrs. Herbert Stenzel of Bergholz, Mrs. John Voelker of Buffalo, Mrs. "William Kroening of Sanborn and Mrs. Edward Mueller of LaSalle; six sons, Hugo, John and Alfred of Bergholz, Bernard of Niagara Falls and Edward of LaSalle; seven grandchildren; her father, Ferdinand A. Williams of Bergholz; three sisters, Mrs. John Proefrock of Tonawanda. Mrs. Fred Lindke of Medina, and Mrs. Rudolph Milleville of Niagara Falls, and three brothers. John Williams and Ferdinand A. Williams, Jr.,of Lockport and Philip Williams of Niagara Falls.
