    Russell W. Frerichs, who grew up on his family's Bergholz dairy farm and became an advocate for the small farmer, died Monday (Dec. 29, 1997) in Sisters Hospital, Buffalo, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 54.
    A Niagara Falls native, Frerichs helped develop local markets for high-value crops from small farms, including strawberries, garlic, herbs and spices. He was a charter member of the Garlic Seed Foundation of New York State.
    He and his wife, the former Diane M. Haseley, grew strawberries and garlic on a small farm on Saunders Settlement Road.
    Frerichs was a 1960 graduate of Niagara-Wheatfield High School. He graduated in 1962 from Greer Technical Institute, Chicago, with an associates degree in heavy-equipment maintenance and operation. He was certified by the American Welder Society as a core welder.
    He was specially trained for hazardous materials removal and worked on local and state cleanups.
    Frerichs was Vietnam-era veteran of the Army Corps of Engineers.
    He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Wheatfield, and Local 463, International Union of Operating Engineers.
    Survivors include his wife, the former Diane M. Haseley; three daughters, Kelli Kaminska of North Tonawanda, Kristen Schuey of Youngstown and Kim DeVantier; three sisters, VeNorma Ascari of Paterson, NJ, Claire Knowles of Wheatfield and Pauline Rule of Washougal, Wash.; and four grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6167 Walmore Road, Wheatfield. Burial will be in the church cemetery

    Family Farm advocate had plans for market
    Lewiston - Russell W. Frerichs. 54, of Saunders Settlement Road, died Monday (Dec. 29, 1997) in Sisters of Charity Hospital, Buffalo, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
    He was born, Feb. 3, 1943, in Niagara Falls, the son of the Late Theodore and Helen (Humphries) Frerichs.
    Raised n a dairy farm in Bergholz, he attended St. James Lutheran Parochial School. He was a 1962 graduate of Greer Technical Institute, Chicago, where he earned his associate's degree in heavy equipment maintenance and operation. He was a (sic) A. W. S. certified core welder.
    Mr. Frerichs served in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1962 - 1967.
    He married Diane M. Haseley on Oct. 6, 1966.
    Mr. Frerichs was specially trained for hazardous material removal and worked on in-state and out-of-state hazmat cleanup and new Superfund construction sites.
    He was a small farm advocate and was a member of carious organizations that supported and encouraged the preservation of family farms. He was developing a local market with high value crops for the small farm, which included strawberries, ethnic garlic, herbs and spices.
    Mr. Frerichs was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Wheatfield, and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 463, and was a charter member of the Garlic Seed Foundation of New York state.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Kim DeVantier of Lewiston, Kelli Kaminska of North Tonawanda, and Kristen Schuey of Youngstown; three sisters, VeNorma Ascari of Paterson, NJ, Claire Knowles of Wheatfield and Pauline Rule of Washougal, Wash.; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
    He was the brother of the late Lois R. Frerichs.
    Visitation will be from 6 -9 p.m. today and 2 -4 and 7 -9 p.m. Thursday at the DuBois Funeral Home. 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz. The Rev. Allen Griep will conduct services at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, Wheatfield. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
    Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, its (sic) parochial school, or to Tillers International Ltd.

    Mrs. Frerichs, 74, formerly of Wheatfield Towers on Plaza Drive, died Wednesday (April 5, 1995) in Niagara Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center, Buffalo, after a long illness.
    A native of Niagara Falls, the former Helen G. Humphries was a 1939 graduate of LaSalle High School in Niagara Falls.
    She was a payroll cashier at Olin Mathieson Co. in Niagara Falls from 1939 to 1943.
    Beginning in 1943, she and her husband operated a dairy farm in Bergholz.
    Her husband, Theodore W., died in 1981.
    As an evangelist and Christian musician, Mrs. Frerichs played the piano for many church events.
    Survivors include a son, Russell; three daughters, VeNorma Ascari of Paterson, NJ, Pauline Rule of Washougal, Wash., and Claire Knowles; two brothers, Edgar Humphries of Newfane and Wilfred Humphries of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a sister, Joan Peters of East Syracuse; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren

    TOWN OF LEWISTON - Max F. Haseley. who retired from the Niagara County Highway Department in 1980, died in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Tuesday (Feb. 16, 1988).
    Haseley, 70, pf Saunders Settlement Road, was a native of the Town of Lewiston and a longtime member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sanborn.
    He is survived by his wife, Irma H. Haseley; a son, David Haseley of Sanborn; daughters, Diane Frerichs and Shirley Walck, both of Niagara Falls; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
    Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Herbert R. Maxwell. Burial will be at church's cemetery.

    Mrs. Haseley was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family , grandchildren, great grandchildren , who were the love of her life. A life long member of St. Peter's Church, she always talked to everyone about her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
    She was the widow of Max F. Haseley, who passed away in February of 1988. Mrs. Haseley is  survived by a son, David [Joanne] Haseley, two daughters, Diane M. (late Russell) Frerichs and Shirley J. (Howard) Walck, eight grandchildren Cheryl Newton, Shawn Haseley, Daryl (Rachel) Haseley, Kim (Bruce) DeVantier, Kelli (Randy) Kaminski, Kristen (Greg) Schuey, Brent (Andrea) and Bruce (Jennifer) Walck, also sixteen great grandchildren, one great  great granddaughter, also many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Edwin and  Harvey Haseley, Frances Walck and Hilda Wendt.
    Her family will be present on   Saturday from 10-1:00 PM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6167 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY where funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM, with the Rev. Thomas Thorstad officiating.
    A special Thank you to all the staff at Our Lady of Peace 2 West.

    Woman Dies as Result Of Stroke Suffered Sunday
    North Tonawanda, June 27-Stricken with cerebral hemorrhage while attending the picnic of St. James Church at Bergholz late yesterday afternoon, Mrs. Clara Augusta Frerichs, 58, of the Niagara Road, Bergholz, died today at the DeGraff Memorial Hospital without regaining consciousness.
    Mrs. Frerichs was a life-long resident of the Town of Wheatfield, and members of her family were with her when she was stricken. She was removed to the hospital immediately. She was a member of the St. James Church and of the Ladies' Aid Society of the church. Surviving are her husband, Herman; two daughters, Mrs. Richard Parris and Mrs. John Martin, Niagara Falls; four sons, Lester, Niagara Falls, and Walter, Theodore and Herbert, Bergholz; four grandchildren, a brother, Howard Retzlaff, Bergholz, and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Attl, LaKota (sic), N. D., and Mrs. Fred Eismann, Buffalo. Services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 from the residence and at 2.30 in the St. James Church. Interment will be in St. James Cemetery.

    Former Weston Avenue resident Agnes A. DeVantier died yesterday (April 28, 1983) at Niagara Falls Memorial Nursing Home. She was 91. Mrs. DeVantier was a native of the Town of Wheatfield and moved to Niagara Falls in 1926. She was a member of St. Paul Calvary Lutheran Church and wife of the late Max Haseley and John DeVantier. She is survived by son Max (Irma) Haseley of this city; brother Hubert Walck of Sanborn; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Walmore, with the Rev. Douglas R. Behm and the Rev.     more, yesterday, occurred the marriage
    of Miss Agnes R. Walck, daughter of
    Mr., and Mrs. Wm. E. Walck to Mr.
    Max Haseley of Sanborn. The cere-
    mony was performed by the Rev. A. W.
    Walck of Unionville, Mich., brother
    of the bride. bride was gowned in
    white crepe de chine with lace
    trimming and wore a veil caught
    with orange blossoms. She carried an
    armful of brides roses and was attend-
    ed by her sister, Miss Lillie Walck and
    Miss Albertine Haseley, sister of the
    groom, both gowned in white voile with
    corsage bouquets of carnations. The
    groom was attended by his brother, Mr.
    Erich Haseley and Mr. Rudolph Walck,
    brother of the bride. After the cere-
    mony a reception was held at the home
    of the bride's parents for about 150
    guests. The out-of-town guests were
    Rev. and Mrs. A. W. walck and daugh-

Haseley, 89, of 2054 Saunders Settlement.Road, died in DeGraff Memorial Hospital North Tonawanda, Sunday (June 2, 1974) after a brief illness.He was born in the Town of Niagara and operated a dairy farm there for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church. His wife, Hulba (sic) Kroening Haseley, died in 1959.He is survived by a son, Harvey H. Haseley of Sanborn; three daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Frances) Walck of Lockport, Mrs. Norman (Hilda) Wendt of Sanborn and Mrs. Max (Irma) Haseley of this city, a brother, Hubert Haseley of this city; three sisters, Mrs. Phillip (Emma) Fehrnwald (sic) of Sanborn and Mrs. Edwin (Lilly) DeVantier. and Mrs. Carl (Viola) Milleville, both of this city; 19 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Wednesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Harold L Baum will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the Rhoney Funeral Home, Sanborn, from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

    Mrs. Haseley Dies at 71
    SANBORN-Mrs. Hulda A. Haseley, 71, of Lockport Rd., died Thursday (July 30, 1959) in Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born in the Town of Niagara, Jan. 27, 1888, she was the daughter of August and Augusta DeVantier Kroening. She married Anthony Haseley 49 years ago. They made their home for many years in Tuscarora Rd., Town of Niagara. For the last seven years, they had lived in their present home in Lockport Rd.
    Mrs. Haseley was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore.
    Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Edwin Walck, Lockport; Mrs. Max Haseley, Lewiston, and Mrs. Norman Wendt, Sanborn; a son, Harvey Haseley, also Sanborn; a sister, Mrs. Albert Haseley, Niagara Falls, and two brothers, Philip and Albert Kroening, both on Sanborn; 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held at the home, Lockport Rd., at 2:30 p.m. Sunday and at 3 at St. Peter's Church, the Rev. Donald G. Rehkopf officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
