On June 15, 1946, Edith married Oscar E. Neumann and upon his return from World War II they set about having a family. Edith and Oscar had two children – a son Craig and daughter Barbara. While raising her family, Edith worked in a variety of settings in a meritorious nursing career, spanning over 40 years, including a private practice and at St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston. She finished her career as an industrial nurse for the Union Carbide Company in Niagara Falls. Edith enjoyed family vacations and social activities with friends and neighbors. She was especially fond of partnering with her sister Florence in organizing summer adventures in Lake Muskoka, Ontario at the cottage of her brother-in-law Bill Neumann. Many a summer day was spent fishing, boating and water skiing, followed by home cooking and a jovial evening of rummy or euchre with the whole family. Following their retirements, Edith and Oscar spent time devoted to their grandchildren and traveled often to Ohio to see them. Edith moved to Fairfield, Ohio in 2003 to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She has been active in the Fairfield Pavilion residential facility for the past 6 years, being the first and most enthusiastic supporter of site activities including her favorite art classes, bingo and the Red Hats ladies group.
