    Wappingers Falls - Donald Victor Schneck, 78, passed into eternal rest on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at home in the loving care of his wife, family, friends, aides, and Hospice of Dutchess County. With courage and bravery, he fought a long battle with cancer. Don was born in Buffalo, New York on October 11, 1932 to Victor and Esther Schroer Schneck. He attended public schools in Buffalo and graduated from Erie County Technical Institute. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in Tokyo General Hospital in Japan. His main employment was IBM at various locations in the country, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed singing, playing the organ, piano and trumpet, gardening, photography, family gatherings and vacations on the coast of Maine. Don served in a number of churches in various positions including Luther League President, Sunday School teacher, and student and then teacher of the Bethel Bible Series. He has been a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Poughkeepsie since 1965, where he also held a number of positions including President of the Church Council. With his wife, Esther, they hosted an in home Prayer, Praise and Bible Study Group for fifteen years under the name of "For Such a Time As This." He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, the former Esther Kroening, whom he married August 18, 1956 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Walmore, New York. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Daniel Schneck, and fiancée, Milagros Valdez; son, David Schneck, and wife, Rosemarie; daughter, Karen Hutchings, and boyfriend, Mike Voulgaris; nine grandchildren, Jessica Smith, and husband, Jason, Jason Hutchings, and wife, Kasey, Jacob Schneck, and wife, Amanda, and Tiffany, Nathan, Stephanie, Bethany, Christina, and Christopher Schneck; and three great grandchildren, Jeremiah Schneck, and Dakota and Noah Hutchings. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Schneck, and wife, Jean, and Harold Schneck, and wife, Wendy; step-mother, Doris Schneck Neumann, and husband, Robert; half-sisters, Linda Rowell, and husband, Dennis, and Marilyn Schneck; half-brother, Nelson Schneck, and wife, Gail; brother-in-law, Herman Kroening; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son-in-law, Richard C. Hutchings; sister, Norma Kroening; brother-in-law, Rudolph Kroening; and sister-in-law, Lorraine Kroening. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 pm, Sunday, September 25, 2011, at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

    Poughkeepsie - Esther Minnie Kroening Schneck, 84, passed into eternal rest on Saturday August 8, 2020. Esther was born at home in Sanborn New York on December 11, 1935 to Phillip and Minnie Pfohl Kroening. She attended school at St. Peter's Lutheran School in Walmore and Wheatfield School in Sanborn. She graduated from North Tonawanda High School NY in 1954. She was employed as a Secretary in Niagara Falls in the industrial Relations Department of Electro Metallurgical Company, A Division of Union Carbide and Carbon Corporation. She also kept and maintained a beautiful home for many years where she helped raise her children and entertain family and friends. She was married to Donald V. Schneck on August 18, 1956 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore, New York by Rev, Sherwood Schroer. She also was an active member of that church. Her husband's employment with IBM resulted in their family traveling to and living in many states including Maine, Washington, California and New York. These relocations gave them wonderful opportunities to visit and enjoy many National Parks. Esther attended and was an active member of various churches all her life, the most recent of which was St. John's Lutheran Church for the past 55 years. During that time she served the church and its members in many capacities. These included Adult Education for Congregational retreats, Vacation Bible School teacher, Bethel Bible Series student and teacher, and various other committees. Together with her husband Don they graciously hosted in their home for 15 years a bible study group which they named "For such a time as this". Throughout her life Esther relied on her personal faith in God thru Jesus Christ. This faith gave her strength, hope and an assurance that she would one day be with her Lord and Savior in heaven. Esther loved going on vacations (especially to Maine), family gatherings of all kinds and celebrating holidays together. She enjoyed cake decorating, creating beautiful floral arrangements and everyone enjoyed her wonderful cooking (especially her famous Chocolate Tortes). Esther was the mother of three children Daniel (Fiancé Milagros), David (wife Rosemarie) and Karen (Husband Richard Hutchings - Deceased). She was Grandmother to 10, Jessica (Husband Jason Smith), Jason Hutchings (Wife Kasey), Daniel Fuentes (Wife Ali), Jacob Schneck (Wife Annie), Tiffany Schneck (Fiancé Thomas), Nathan, Stephanie (Husband Daniel Schroder), Bethany, Christina (Fiancé Taylor and Christopher. Esther was Great Grandmother to 10, Jeremiah, Melina, Sara, Sabelle, Addie, Dakota, Noah, Emery, Willow and Wyatt. Esther was devoted to her family and cared for them for many years. From raising three very young children as she traveled across the country to caring for her dying husband during his courageous battle with cancer she gave herself for others. Above everything else Esther loved her family and they loved and adored her in return. She will indeed be greatly missed. Call hours will be from 5 to 7:30pm on Thursday, August 13, 2020, at sweets Funeral Home, Route 9, Hyde Park, NY. A service will be held at the Funeral Home immediately following the viewing. Rev. Jeffery Koenig will officiate. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be directed to Meals on Wheels of Poughkeepsie.

    PHILIP W. KROENING
    SANBORN - Philip W. Kroening, 80, of 3056 Lockport Rd., died Saturday at the Niagara Falls Medical Center after a short illness. He operated a farm for the last 50 years on Lockport Rd. and since 1939 had operated a saw mill there also. Survivors include his wife, Minnie; two sons Rudolph of Niagara Falls and Herman of here; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Esther) Schneck of Wappingers Falls; a sister Mrs. Albert (Elizabeth) Haseley of Niagara Falls and nine grandchildren. The Rev. Harold L. Baum will officiate at services at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church here. Burial will be in the church cemetery.     SANBORN - Mrs. Minnie Kroening, 79, of 3056 Lockport Road died Wednesday (Jan. 3, 1979) in Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
    A lifelong resident of Sanborn, she was a longtime member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore and a member of the American Lutheran Church Woman of St. Peter's. She was predeceased by her husband Philip W. Kroening, who died in 1972.
    Survivors include two sons, Rudolph Kroening of Niagara Falls and Herman Kroening of Sanborn; daughter, Mrs. Donald (Esther) Schneck of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; two brothers, Max and Louis Pfohl both of Sanborn; four sisters, Mrs. Jonas (Martha) Haseley, Mrs. Mervin (Verone) Haseley, Mrs. Marcus (Lizzie) Haseley, Mrs. Raymond (Eleonore) Craft, all of Sanborn, nine grandchildren five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Sigmund and John Pfohl.
    Funeral services will be a held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
    Friends will be present at the Rhoney Funeral Home, Sanborn from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the St. Peter's. Evangelical Lutheran Church fund, the family said.

    SANBORN, Mar. 24.-August Kroening died today at the family home here. Funeral services will be held from the home on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 from St. Peter's church at Walmore. Served many years on church council, sang in choir, assisted the pastor by reading sermons in services occasionally. In 1915, was a member of building committee for the present church building; good health all his life. Was in church last Sunday of his life. Survivors: 4 sons, Sigmund, John (in WI. is an A. L. C. pastor, ordained in 1928).     WALMORE June 21 - The funeral of Mrs John Pfohl, 70, of the Walmore Road was held held Tuesday afternoon at St Peter's Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband John and nine children, Rev. John Pfohl of North Freedom. Wisc. Sigmund Pfohl, Niagara Falls. Mrs. Philip Kroening. Mrs Jonas Haseley. Mrs. Marcus Haseley, all of Sanborn. Louis, Max, Eleonore and Mrs. Mervin Haseley, at home. The bearers were Hubert Pfohl, Rudolf Walck, William Walck, Philip Haseley, Eric Haseley, and Harvey Haseley. The flower bearers were Rudolph Kroening, Herman Kroening, Esther Kroening and John Haseley. The Rev. Edward Grabau officiated. Burial was in Walmore cemetery.
