    Donald William Wendt, formerly of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2009, in Grand Rapids, MI. He was born April 20, 1920, in Sanborn, NY, the son of William B. and Grace E. Wendt. Mr. Wendt attended grade school at St. Andrews Lutheran School and LaSalle High School and Trott vocational school. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers attached to the Air Force from 1942 until 1946 in the Azores' Islands. He was also stationed at Eniwetok, Saipan, Tinian Island and Okinawa. After being honorably discharged he was employed for 42 years as an Engineer for the Niagara Junction Railway and later Conrail, retiring in December of 1981. Mr. Wendt, together with his beloved wife, Dorothy became successful entrepreneurs in the opening of Wendt's Propane Gas in 1952. The company was a major supplier of propane gas to the massive Robert Moses Power Project on the Niagara River in the early sixties as well as many local customers. He was a former member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Sanborn for many years and then joined The First Assembly of God Church in Niagara Falls. Mr. Wendt was very fond of traveling, gardening, construction, hunting and fishing. He was the husband of fifty-four years to the late Dorothy Helen (Walck) Wendt, who died in January of 2006. Together they are the parents of Gary (Jacquelyn) of Tuscaloosa, AL, Douglas ( Marion) of Grand Rapids, MI and Susan of Lockport, NY; three brothers, Glenn (Jean), Kenneth (Dianne), Forrest (late Gail) Wendt; a sister, Gracelyn (late John) Bilek, all of Sanborn, NY; brother-in-law of Norine and Darla Wendt; also survived by eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Marvin (Ruth), Bertram and William Wendt, Jr. The family will be receiving friends and family at RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Rd., SANBORN, NY, on Friday, from 2 -4 and 7-9 PM. A celebration of Donald's life will be held at The First Assembly of God Church, 9750 Niagara Falls Blvd., Niagara Falls, NY, Saturday at 10:30 AM, with the Rev. Ronald Friedersdorf, officiating.     SANBORN - Dorothy H. Wendt of Sanborn died Friday in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a long illness. She was 75.
    Born Dorothy Walck in St. Paul, MN., she graduated from Minnehaha Christian Academy in Minneapolis in 1948. She moved to Niagara Falls the next year and worked for Republic Light and Power Co.
    She married her husband, Donald, in late 1951 and, together, they founded and operated Wendt's Propane Gas Co. from 1952 to 1966.
    Dorothy also worked at the Beacon Christian Book Store from 1972 to 1978 and 1984 to 1993.
    Mrs. Wendt was a counselor and prayer partner for the Christian Broadcasting Network's 700 Club for several years in the 1980s, and she and her husband had a satellite branch of the 700 Club in a warehouse on Lockport Road property where they lived for 35 years.
    Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, the Rev. Gary of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Douglas of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a daughter, Susan of Sanborn; two sisters, Martha Winnes of Minneapolis and Amanda Walck of Sanborn; a brother, the Rev. Alfred Walck of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Monday in First Assembly of God Church, 9750 Niagara Falls Blvd.

    the vows as well, Miss Dorothy
    Helen Walck became the bride of
    Donald William Wendt Saturday,
    Nov. 24, at the Roseland Bethlehem
    Lutheran Church.
    Before the altar, decorated with
    white mums, palms and cathedral
    candles, the daughter of Rev. and
    Mrs. A. W. Walck, and the son
    of Mr. and Mrs. William Wendt
    of Sanborn, N.Y., exchanged their
    vows. Miss Gertrude Walck, sister
    of the bride, played th wedding
    music, and Paul Mehls of Niagara
    Falls, was soloist.
    For her wedding the bride chose
    candleight bridal satin made with
    a fitted bodice and long sleeves
    ending in points. The portrait
    neckline was bordered with imported
    Venice lace and the full
    gathered skirt ended in a cathedral
    train. Her veil of imported
    illusion was held by a satin halo
    covered with seed .pearls and she
    carried white roses and pom pons
    centered with an orchid.
    Miss Amanda Walck, another
    sister, was maid of honor. She
    wore rose taffeta made with a
    lace-edged nylon yoke and carried
    white 'mums and pink roses.
    The bridesmaids were Miss Har-
    Landers and Miss Anne
    Louise Wendt, both of Niagara
    Falls. Miss Gracelyn Wendt of
    Sanborn was junior bridesmaid.
    They were all gowned in turquoise
    taffeta made in the same style
    as that of the maid of honor.
    Bertram Wendt of Sanborn was
    best man for his brother. The
    ushers were William Wendt Jr.,
    Kenneth and Glenn Wendt, also
    brothers of the groom, and Leonard
    Walck, a. cousin of the bride.
    For her daughter's wedding
    Mrs.. Walck chose a gown of fray
    with fray accessories and a cor-
    sage of gardenias and roses. Mrs.
    Wendt wore a blue dress, with
    matching accessories and a rose
    and gardenia corsage.
    Following the ceremony a re-
    ception was held in the Bethle-
    hem Church parlors Out-of-town
    guests were from Fremont and
    Toledo, Ohio; Bergholtz, Sanborn,
    Walmore, Pekin and Middleport,
    N.Y.
    Upon their return from a wed-
    ding trip to Montreal Mr. and
    Mrs. Wendt will make their home
    on the Lockport Rd., Niagara
    Falls. The bride is employed by
    the Republic Gas Company and
    the groom is an engineer with the
    Niagara Junction Railway Com-
    pany.

    Settlement Road, died Monday
    (Nov. 29, 1971) in a Buffalo
    hospital after a long illness.
    Born in Detroit, Mich., he
    came to this village in 1901,
    operating a dairy farm here for
    many years.
    His father, the late William
    Wendt, tapped the first gas
    well in Niagara County in 1927,
    and in 1938 Mr. Wendt and his
    brothers began operating the
    Wendt Brothers Gas Co.
    The company supplied
    Sanborn residents with gas
    until 1956, when the franchise
    was sold to the Iroquois Gas
    Co.
    Mr. Wendt also worked for a
    time at the Buffalo Pump Co.
    as a machinist.
    A member of St. Paul's
    Evangelical Lutheran Church,
    North Tonawanda, he was an
    exempt member of. the Sanborn
    Volunteer Fire Co.
    He is survived by his widow
    Grace Wendt; seven sons,
    Donald Wendt of Niagara
    Falls, and Marvin, Bertrum,
    Glenn, Kenneth, Forrest and
    William B. Wendt Jr., and a
    daugher, Mrs.John(Gracellyn)
    Bilek, all of Sanborn.
    Also surviving are two
    brothers, Alton Wendt of
    Lockport and Arnold Wendt of
    Niagara Falls; a sister, Mrs.
    Benjamin (Laura) Walck Sr. of
    Sanborn, 25 grandchildren a/id

    Funeral services will be held

    Tonawanda, Thursday at 2:30

    REV A. WALCK IS DEAD
    SANBORN - The Rev, Alfred W. Walck Sr., 81, of 2940 Lockport Road, a Lutheran
    clergyman for 57 years, died Sunday (Sept. 7, 1969) in Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was a native of Sanborn and celebrated the 50th anniversary of his ordination on Feb. 18, 1962. At that time he said, 'Tm deeply grateful and appreciative to the kindness and mercies of God for giving me the privilege of. serving Him and helping His people. The Rev. Mr. Walck was ordained after studies at the former
    Martin Luther College, and Seminary in Buffalo. His first church was in Unionville, Mich., in 1912. In 1916 he went to St. Paul, Minn. for home mission work. He was in the St. Paul area 33 years, serving at Grace Lutheran and Hope Lutheran Churches. In 1949 the Rev. Mr. Walck went to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Webster, N.Y. He was,
    there 12 years, retiring in August, 1961. Since that time, he has been interim pastor at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda, St. John's Lutheran Church; County Line, Concordia Lutheran Church at Byron Center, Trinity Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville, and St. Peters Lutheran Church, Walmore Road. He served at St. Peter's for 14 months, until Sept. 24, 1967. He was president emeritus and past secretary of the Lutheran Orient Mission Society and served on various mission boards. The Rev. Mr. Walck was married to the former Amanda Milleville for 53 years, until her death in 1965. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Donald Wendt of Niagara Falls, Mrs. Walter Winness, of Chambersburg, Pa., and Miss Amanda Walck, a parish worker at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Morris, III. a son, the Rev. W. Walck Jr., of Madang, New Guinea; three brothers,'Rudolph C, William A., and Hubert E. Walck, all of here; a sister, Mrs. John Devantier, of Niagara Falls; and 11 grandchildren. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and -from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home here. The Rev. Mr. Walck will lie in state, from noon until 2 p.m.
    Wednesday, in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore Road, funeral-services will be
    conducted at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Carl Duewe, interim pastor at St. Peter's. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. The family said contributions may be made to the World Missions of the Lutheran Church as tribute.

    Pioneer Resident Is Laid to Rest
    SANBORN, Feb. 23-The funeral of William F. Wendt, 76, who died Saturday at his home in Saunder's (sic) Settlement road, was held from the home yesterday at 2:30 p. m. and at St. Peter's church, at Walmore, at 3 o'clock and was attended by a large gathering of relatives and friends.
    The bearers included: Ben Wendt, Philip Wendt, Robert Wendt, Edwin Beutel. Rudolph Beutel and William Beutel. Flower bearers were Donald Wendt, Merwyn (sic), Wendt, Ben Walck, Jr., and Lawrence Walck. The Rev. Edward A. Graubau (sic) was the officiating Clergyman. Interment was in St. Peter's cemetery, Walmore.

Jan 9, 1890 married to Wm. Wendt, who died Feb 19, 1938, had 5 children. Right after marriage, moved to Detroit Mich, there until 1901, then moved to present home of Alton Wendt, near Sanborn where she died. Jan. 3 lapsed into a coma and fell asleep Sun. morning Jan 7 (at) 3:25. Survivors: 3 sons, Alton and Wm. of Sanborn, Arnold of Bergholz; 2 daughters, Mrs. Ben Wendt Sr. of Sanborn and Mrs. Edna Walck of Median; 25 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Suffered from hardening of the arteries which it seems weakened her brain and affected her mind, this was already apparent about 15 yrs. ago, but was serious only in the past 6 yrs. or so.     The funeral of William Wendt was held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the late residence on Lockport avenue and a half an hour later at St. Paul's church in Martinsville. The services were conducted bv Rev. William T. Schmidt and were largely attended. Burial was in the St. Paul's cemetery. The pallbearers were: A. W. Babel, John Ziehl, August Martin, John Jagow, August Errick and Charles Fehrman, residents of Martinsville and the Town of Wheatfield.

    Mrs. Albertina W. Walck, Of Walmore, Passes

    Walmore, N. Y.-Mrs. Albertina W. Walck, 84, of this village, died this morning at the home of her son William A. Walck, in the Lockport road, after a long illness.
    Mrs. Walck was born in Walmore and had resided here all her life. She was a daughter of the late August Haseley and the late Henrietta Goerss, early settlers. She was the widow of William E. Walck. Mrs. Walk was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, of this village. In former years she was an active member of the women's organization of the church.
    Mrs. Walck is survived by four sons and two daughters, The Rev. Alfred W. Walck, of St. Paul MN., Rudolph C., William A., and Hubert E. Walck all of Sanborn, N. Y.; Mrs. John W. DeVantier of Niagara Falls, N. Y., and Mrs. Eric F. Haseley, of Sanborn, N. Y.; 16 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
    The funeral will be held at the home of the son William A. Walck Sanborn, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock and 2:30 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Edward A. Grabau will officiate. Internment will be in the Walmore Cemetery

    John W. Milleville, 83, died yesterday morning at his home on the Old Falls Boulevard, Town of Wheatfield. He was a lifelong resident of the town and a retired farmer. He is survived by his wife, Helen, nee Milleville; four sons, Hugo and Carl of the town of Wheatfield, Edgar of Marshfield, WI., and Martin of the town of Lewiston; four daughters, Mrs. Alfred Walck of St. Paul, Mrs. Edward DeVantier of Niagara Falls and Helen and Elsie at home; 32 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Augusta Ferchen and Mrs. Bertha DeVantier of the town of Wheatfield. Rites will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the residence and at 2:30 from the St. James church. The Rev. Otto Bruss will officiate. Burial will be in St. James cemetery.
