    Mildred A. Mangan, 93, formerly of Youngstown-Lockport Rd., Ransomville, NY, died Sunday April 20, 2008 in Briody's Health Care Facility, Lockport, after a brief illness. Born in Point Edward, Ontario, Canada on March 13, 1915 to John and Rose (Bryant) Allen. Upon moving to Niagara Falls in 1927, she attended Niagara Falls High School. On March 31, 1935 she married Paul C. Mangan and moved to Ransomville in 1947. Paul passed away on June 20, 1981. Mildred worked for Loblaws Grocery Stores as Head Cashier at several of their locations in Niagara County for 20 years, retiring in 1972. She was a longtime member of the North Ridge United Methodist Church, the Senior Citizen Dale Association in Lockport and the Rebeka Lodge. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening. She is survived by two children, Iva (Howard) ''Tommy'' Streeter of Deland, FL, Paul E. (Ruby) Mangan of Lockport; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sisters, Thelma Sadlier of Sarnia, Ont, Betty Allen of Calgary; and brothers, Fred Foster of Hamilton, Ont, Logie Allen of Sarnia, Ont; and daughter-in-law, Terry Mangan of Gasport. She was predeceased by a son, Britton Mangan, who died 1991; and several brothers and sisters. Friends may call at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville, on Tuesday from 3-8 PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday (April 23rd) at 11: 00 AM from the North Ridge United Methodist Church, 3930 North Ridge Rd., Town of Cambria, with Rev. Kim Sellers officiating. Burial in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria. Memorials may be made to the North Ridge United Methodist Church, 3930 North Ridge Rd., Lockport, Niagara County, NY 14094.

    Arthur W. Wendt, 86, of Wheatfield, a retired truck driver, died Wednesday (Sept. 25, 2002) in CrestWood Health Care Facility after a lengthy illness.
    He was born in Lewiston and attended St. Peter's Lutheran School.
    Wendt worked as a laborer at Remington Rand from 1938 to 1949, then was a truck driver at Sanborn Milling from 1949 to 1977 and drove trucks for Voss Manufacturing from 1977 to 1990.
    He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he held various positions, including trustee and elder. He also was a member of the church's Cemetery Committee.
    Wendt was an exempt member of the Sanborn Fire Company, serving in an active capacity for 25 years.
    He enjoyed hunting and traveling.
    Survivors include his wife of 64 years, the former A. Elise Goltz; a son, Daniel of North Tonawanda; four daughters, Suzanne Galganski of Alexander, Janet of Amherst, Ruby Mangan of Spencerport and Gail Wurl of Lockport; two brothers, Reinert of St. Augustine, Fla., and Herbert of Avon Park, Fla.; two sisters, Violet Cvetan of Lebanon, Pa., and Minnie DuBois of Niagara Falls; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6169 Walmore Road, Sanborn. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery

    A. Elsie Wendt, age 105, formerly of Wheatfield, was called peacefully to her heavenly home on May 13, 2015 at the Briody Health Care Facility, Lockport, NY. Born in Massey, Ontario, Canada on January 31, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Gustave and Emma Goltz. Elsie came to the United States as a teen and became a naturalized citizen. She was a devoted mother and homemaker, enjoyed reading, cooking, baking and spending quality time with her family. Elsie was the oldest member in history of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn.

    Survivors include 5 children, Suzanne (decd. Bill) Galganski of Amherst, Daniel (Jean) Wendt of North Tonawanda, Janet Wendt of Amherst, Ruby (Paul) Mangan and Gail Dietz, both of Lockport; 8 grandchildren, Michele (Adonis) Cleanthons, Michael Galganski, Amy (Thomas) Fitch, Patricia (Ryan) Schoenfeld, Shaun (Jenny) Mangan, Lisa (Scott) Flicker, Jonathan (Gretchen) Wurl and Andrew Wurl; fifteen great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

    She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur W. Wendt on September 25, 2002. They were united in marriage on June 4, 1938; and five brothers, Henry, Edmund, Albert, Arnold and Herman.

    Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME (731-3234), 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Bruce Gamache', on Saturday (May 16) at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter's LCMC Church, 6168 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY 14132. Interment in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's LCMC Church Memorial Fund.

    STRUCK BY CAR, FARMER KILLED NEAR THIS CITY
    Arthur Wendt Suffers Fatal Injuries; Dies Before Hospital Is Reached.
    Hit by an automobile while walking along the Saunders Settlement road at 9:45 p. m. yesterday, Arthur Wendt, farmer, 42 years old, was fatally injured. The automobile was driven by G. M. Krick, 1722 Whitney avenue. Krick told Coroner W. L. Draper, who investigated the accident, that he was driving west and that the glare from headlights of a car approaching in the opposite direction prevented him from seeing Wendt.
    Wendt suffered fractures of the neck; skull, both legs and left arm. He was taken to Memorial hospital, but was dead when he arrived there. Wendt was married and leaves a wife and six children. He had lived practically all his life on the Saunders Settlement road, about midway between this city and Sanborn. Krick was not held after he had made his statement to Coroner Draper and Undersheriff Cowdrick.

    Sanborn Woman Passes in Hospital after Emergency Operation.
    SANBORN, N. Y. - Mrs. Minnie Wendt, 51, of the Lockport road near Sanborn, died last night in DeGraff Memorial hospital, North Tonawanda. where she underwent an emergency operation on December 23. She was a daughter of the late Ferdinand and Minnie Haseley, of the Town of Niagara, and resided in the Saunders Settlement road, to her Lockport road home ten years ago. She was a member of St. Peter's German Lutheran church, of Walmore. She is survived by four-sons, Ervin, of North Tonawanda; Relnert, of Niagara Falls, and Arthur and Herbert, of Sanborn; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Cvetan and Miss Minnie Wendt, of Sanborn; two brothers, Anthony and Hubert Haseley, of Niagara Palls, and five sisters, Mrs. Fred Fahrnwald, Mrs. Philip Fahrnwald and Mrs. Albert Kroening, of Sanborn, and Mrs. Carl Mllleville and Mrs. Edwin DeVantier, of Niagara Falls. Ten grandchildren also survive. The funeral will be held from the family home at 2 p. m. Sunday, with services in St. Peter's church at Walmore at 2:30 p. m., the Rev. Edward A. Grabau officiating. Burial will be in Walmore cemetery.
