Howard W. Catlin, 81, who worked as a truck driver for local construction contractors, died Tuesday (May 7, 2002) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a brief illness.
He was born in Oil City, Pa., and was a graduate of Oil City High School.
Catlin attended the Curtiss Wright Technical School in Santa Monica, Calif. He then moved to Western New York, where he worked as an aircraft mechanic at Bell Aircraft, Wheatfield, for several years.
He also worked for the Niagara Falls Gazette and several contractors.
Catlin was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, the former Elverna Haseley of the Town of Niagara; a son, Gary of Sanborn; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday in Rhoney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.

LEWISTON — Elverna G. Catlin, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013, in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence, Lewiston, NY.

She was born in the Town of Niagara, on February 5, 1923, the daughter of the late Hubert and Esther (DeVantier) Haseley.

Elverna was a sales associate with the Sample Dress Shop in the Mil-Pine Plaza for 22 years, and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Elverna got her greatest joy spending time with the family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughters.

She was the wife of the late Howard W. Catlin, who died in May of 2002.

Elverna is survived by her beloved son, Gary W. (Carol) Catlin of Sanborn, NY; her dearest grandchildren, Cheryl (Robert) Steingasser, Lori Milleville and David (Anna) Catlin; and her much loved great-granddaughters, Kimberly Milleville and Natalie Catlin; one sister, Doris (William) Davis; a sister-in-law, Alice Haseley. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Raymond Haseley, Milton (late Doris) Haseley, Reuben (late Lois) Haseley and Glenn Haseley.

The family will be present on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Glenn Richardson officiating. Memorials may be made in her name to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 2759 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304; or to St. John Lutheran Church School, 6950 Ward Road, North Tonawanda, NY 14120. Interment at Acacia Park Cemetery, Town of Pendleton, NY.

NIAGARA FALLS - Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church for Hubert D. Haseley, 79, of 10335 Lockport Road, who died Friday (Nov. 1, 1974) in Memorial Medical Center after being striken (sic) with an apparent heart attack.
A former Town of Niagara assessor, he served during the 1930's and 1940's. Friends may call at the Rhoney Funeral Home today, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorials may be made to the St. Peter's Lutheran Church memorial fund, the family said.

Esther L. Haseley Lived in Town of Niagara 65 Years
Esther L. Haseley of Lockport Road in the Town of Niagara died yesterday (May 27, 1984) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a long illness. She was 91. She was a native of the Town of Wheatfield and had lived in the Town of Niagara for the last 65 years. She was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore. Survivors include sons, Raymond and Reuben, both of the Town of Niagara; daughters, Mrs. Howard (Elverna) Catlin and Mrs. William (Doris) Davis, both of the Town of Niagara; a brother, Edwin DeVantier, of the Town of Wheatfield; 25 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Frederick and Bertha (Millville) DeVantier and the wife of the late Hubert Haseley, who died in 1974. She also was the mother of the late Milton and Glenn Haseley and sister of the late Benjamin DeVantier. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the Rhoney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn. Mrs. Wilhelmina S. Haseley, Well Known Resident of County, Passes.
Mrs. Wilhelmina S. Haseley, 67 years old, of the Lockport road, Sanborn, died suddenly at the home of her daughter Mrs. Fred Farnwald of the Lockport Road, Sanborn. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Haseley family home and at the St. Peters Lutheran Church at 2:30 pm. The Rev. Edward Grabau will conduct the service. Burial will be in the Walmore cemetery. Mrs. Haseley had resided in Niagara County for many years and was widely known in the Sanborn and Walmore localities. She is survived by her husband Ferdinand, two sons, Anthony of the LaSalle section, and Hubert C., Walmore, and six daughters, Mrs. Fred Farnwald, Mrs. Arthur Wendt, Mrs. Edward DeVantier, Mrs. Albert Kroening, and Mrs. Carl Milleville, all of Niagara County.

The funeral of Frederick DeVantier who died at his home in St Johnsburg on Tuesday, will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock In St. James church. Bergholz, the Rev. O. Bruss officiating. The deceased is survived by, his wife, Bertha Milleville DeVantier; one daughter, Mrs. Hubert Haseley of Sanborn 1 two sons, Edwin at home and Benjamin De Vantler of Sanborn. Two brothers and two sisters. Albert of St. Johnsburg. William of Sanborn; Mrs. August Kroening of Sanborn and Mrs. William Milleville of LaSalle.
