    Lt. Colonel William A. Kalberer Sr. USAF (Retired) passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016. He was born in Mandan, ND, and was the son of the late Jacob and Claudia (Grunenfelder) Kalberer. He graduated from Mandan High School and joined the United States Navy in January 1945. At the end of World War II he received an honorable discharge and went to college at the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Geology. William was part of the Air Force ROTC program at the University. He received his commission as a 2nd Lt. in the Air Force Reserve and in January 1951 went on active duty at Perrin AFB, Texas. Subsequently, he was sent to Massachusetts Institute of Technology for meteorological training. He spent his entire career as a Meteorologist providing weather support services to flying and ground forces throughout the world. During his career in the Air Force he received two Commendation Medals and two Meritorious Service Awards. He retired from the Air Force after 28 years of service. After retiring from the Air Force, William went to work for the Office of Emergency Services, Commonwealth of Virginia for 10 years and transferred to the Department of Conservation and Recreation for an additional six years as a flood plain management specialist. Both state organizations worked under a contract basis with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. After state retirement, William worked for two years as a FEMA reservist working on Presidential Disaster Declarations. He was a member and past President of the Optimist Club; a member of the American Legion and the Retired Officers Association. He helped organize and was the first President of the Tri-Cities USA Dance Chapter. William was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. He served on various committees and was a member of the Sojourners Sunday School Class. Mr. Kalberer is survived by his loving wife, Carol M. Kalberer; two sons, William Kalberer and wife, Kathryn of Houston, Texas, and James Kalberer and wife, Cynthia of Keller, Texas; one daughter, Susan Cox and husband, James of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren, Lindsay, Courtney and Kelsey Kalberer, Jacob Kalberer and Michael and Kurtis Cox; a sister, Sonja McKinnon of Austin, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Jane Murff and husband, John of Ossining, NY. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family is being served by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.     Paul F. Haseley. whose expertise as a civil engineer was vital to the development of many area parks. including the Niagara Reservation, died Tuesday (March 17, 1987) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
    Haseley. 87, of 87th Street was born in North Tonawanda and spent most of his life in this area. He started his civil engineering career on relocation of the New York Central Railroad under the U.S. Railroad Administration through the cities of North Tonawanda and Tonawanda in 1918.
    From 1921 to 1926, he was with the Division of Highways and worked on the construction of highways and bridges in Erie, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and Niagara counties. In 1926-27 he was a supervisory engineer for the Niagara County Highway Department, and in 1927-28, he was resident engineer for North Tonawanda.
    In 1928, Haseley became engineer for the State Reservation of Niagara, now the Niagara Frontier State Park Commission. That year, he was also appointed by the Reservation Commission as engineer for the development of the Whirlpool and Devil's Hole State Park, as well as the Niagara Reservation. He supervised the triangulation survey for the collapse of the American Falls in January 1931. and in 1933, he designed and supervised the construction of the Stone Arch Bridge from Goat Island to Luna Island.
    Also in 1933, preliminary studies were started for the development of Beaver Island State Park, West River Parkway, and Buckhorn Island State Park on Grand Island. A ferry provided transportation to the office headquarters at the former Sidway Estate, which is now Beaver Island State Park.
    Haseley retired in 1955 from the Niagara Frontier State Park Commission in order to devote his time to a private practice as a consulting engineer.
    He was a life member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a member of the Society of American Military Engineers, a life and charter member of the New York State Society of Professional Engineers, a member of the Civil Service Commission of the State of New York, the Ismailia Temple, the Niagara Scottish Rite, the Buffalo Consistory, the Southerland Lodge No 826 F&AM, and was a member of Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church.
    Jean Andrews, who was secretary at Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church for 27 years, recalled Wednesday how Haseley gave his time to the church as superintendent o( Sunday school. and as church elder. "He certainly was a man to be respected and a very dedicated member of this church." she said.
    Surviving are his Alma, daughters Mrs. John (Jane) Murff of Irvington. N.Y., and Mrs. William (Carol) Kalberer of Colonial Heights. Va., and four grandchildren.
    Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at, the Lane Funeral Home, 8622 Buffalo Ave., where services, conducted by the Rev. Knight Washburn, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Burial will be at Oakland Rural Cemetery Youngstown.
    Contributions to Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church are acceptable as tribute.

    Alma Haseley, 95, formerly of 87th Street and an active member of Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church, died Sunday (Aug. 22, 1999) in Bethel Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Croton-on-Hudson, after a four-month illness.
    Born Alma Koch in Niagara Falls, she lived in Youngstown for several years before returning to Niagara Falls to live for many years. She moved to Croton-on-Hudson in 1989.
    Mrs. Haseley had served as a deacon and as a member of the Priscilla Circle at her church. In addition, she was a volunteer in the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center gift shop for 20 years.
    Her husband, Paul F., died in 1987.
    Survivors include two daughters, Jane Murff of Irvington and Carol Kalberer of Colonial Heights, Va.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
    Services were private. Burial was in Oakland Rural Cemetery, Youngstown

    NORTH TONAWANDA, Dec. 4 - Mrs. Mathilda Haseley. 84. life long resident of Niagara County, died yesterday at DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a lingering illness. She was born in the Town of Lewiston. April 13, 1864. In 1888 she was married to the late Frederick L. Haseley and moved to the Town of Porter where they operated a farm for three years, before moving to the present home on 307 Bryant street, at that time the Village of North Tonawanda She is survived by one daughter Lydia E. Haseley, at home; two sons, Walter G. Haseley, North Tonawanda, and Paul F. Haseley, Niagara Falls. four sisters, Mrs Hulda Hartman, Niagara Falls, Mrs Otto Mueller and Mrs. Edward Wurl, North Tonawanda, Mrs John Ferchen, Town of Wheatfield, and two grandchildren. She was an active member of St Matthews Lutheran Church. The Rev Paul H. Gassmann will officiate at funeral services at the home at 2 p. m.. Monday and at 2:30 p. m.. at St. Matthew's Lutheran church. Bryant and Wheatfield streets. Interment will be in St. Matthew's cemetery.
