    NIAGARA FALLS — Edward R. DeVantier went to be with our Lord, surrounded by his family on March 22, 2012 in the ICU Unit at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston. Edward was born on December 30, 1924, the son of Edward and Thekla (Milleville) DeVantier.

    He attended St. James Lutheran School and graduated from LaSalle Senior High School. Mr. DeVantier served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 as an Electricians Mate. He was stationed in the South Pacific and one of the highlights after his retirement was a return trip to Banika in the Solomon Islands where he was stationed. He married Elaine Farr DeVantier on October 16, 1948. Mr. DeVantier was employed by the E.I. DuPont Company for 36 years as a instrument mechanic. He retired in 1985 and was a member of the DuPont 25-year club.

    He was a lifelong member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bergholz, where he served as a trustee and elder. He was a Charter Member, Past Commander and Life Member of the Wheatfield American Legion Post 1451 and was also a life member of the VFW. Following retirement, he enjoyed golf, travel and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a volunteer at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and Home Delivered Meals for Niagara County. He was a member of the Retired Mens Service Club.

    In addition to his wife of 63 years, Edward is survived by brothers, Roger (Doris) of Cherry Hill, NJ, and Loren (Norma) of Lewiston. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Pastor Vernon DeVantier (Harriet) of Blissfield, MI. Edward is survived by children, Robert (Debra) of Gates, NY, Edward (Victoria) of Lewiston, and Brian (Judy) of North Tonawanda. He is also survived by grandchildren, Christina, Jennifer, Robert Jr., Nicole, Trevor and Connor; great-grandchildren, Ronan, Gideon, Allison, Oren and Austin.

    Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls, NY 14304 on Saturday from 1-3 and 6-8 PM. Funeral Services will be held Sunday at 3 PM at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church 2437 Niagara Road, Bergholz NY 14304. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if desired, the family wishes that all donations be made to St. James Lutheran Endowment Fund 2437 Niagara Road Niagara Falls NY 14034.

    Mary M. Sicoli, 93, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on May 6, 2023 at her Lewiston home.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Rose (Falcone) Massaro.
    Mary was a 1948 graduate of Niagara Falls High School.  On September 27, 1952, she married Benjamin M. Sicoli at St. Joseph RC Church.  Mr. Sicoli predeceased her on September 18, 2010.  Mary and Ben deeply loved each other throughout their 58 wonderful years of marriage.   Mary was employed with her husband as the bookkeeper for Sicoli Masonry Construction Company from 1955 until 1963. 
    A loving, faith filled person, she was a long-time parishioner of St Peter's RC Church.   She was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Niagara Frontier Country Club and Niagara Falls Country Club, where she chaired various social committees.  She also volunteered with the Mt. St. Mary’s St. Francis Guild and the Ladies Auxiliary at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital.   Mary enjoyed playing Bridge and spending time with her lifelong group of friends, affectionately known as "The Charmers”.    She loved her 3 dogs, Pierre, Reggie and Spike, dearly.   Mary also enjoyed spending winters at her Boca Raton, Florida residence.  An avid cook and baker, she showed her love through cooking and baking, especially during the holidays. Above all, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her the most joy and meaning in her life.   She was cherished in life and will be dearly missed.    
    Mary is survived by her three sons, David M. (Kathy) Sicoli, Benjamin R. (Sheri) Sicoli and Dr. Robert A. (Sharyl) Sicoli; her grandchildren, Catherine (Luke) Darling, David (Matthew Ferguson) Sicoli, Benjamin R. (Amanda) Sicoli, Jr., Christopher (Heather) Sicoli, Alyssa Kaczmarek, Zachary Sicoli, Kathleen Flint, Mary Sicoli and Joseph Sicoli; 8 great grandchildren, Elliott, Rachel, Ari, Elliana, Carmen, Miesha, Melina and Lauren; her brother, Angelo (Louise) Massaro, Esq. as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her husband of 58 years, she was predeceased by her siblings, Anne (late Samuel) Russo, Frank (late Dolores) Massaro, Angeline (late D. Arthur) Marinucci, Dominic (Joy) Massaro, and Richard (late Joyce) Massaro.
    A heartfelt thank you is extended to Mary's six caregivers - Tammy, Rose, Anna, Marilyn, Ashley and Brandy - for the kind, attentive, loving care they provided her during the latter years of her life.    
    Visitation will be on Thursday, May 11 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:30 AM followed by Mary’s Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Peter’s RC Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY.  Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to St Peter's RC Church.
