Dianne L. Havens, 89, of Lewiston, NY and formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Kenmore Mercy Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Lillian (Pearson) Lauer; and the loving wife of the late Karl Edwards, Jr. who she married on April 7, 1956 in Niagara Falls.
Dianne graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1952 and earned her Registered Dental Hygienist certification from the former Erie Technical Institute, Buffalo, NY in 1954. She happily served as a hygienist for many local dentists for 50 years prior to retiring in 2004. She was much loved by the generations of families she treated as patients, many of whom still ask about her to her sons, in their dental practice.
Dianne was an avid reader and enjoyed tending to her garden. She also loved vacationing to the Adirondacks every September with family for decades. Above all, Dianne centered her life around her family who she cherished the time spent with. She especially enjoyed baking chocolate chip cookies every weekend with her beloved grandson, Andrew.
Dianne is survived by three children, Claudia Beth (Harry) Wade, Dr. John Andrew (Michele Ruggirello) Havens, Dr. Todd Lauer (Nicole) Havens, and was sadly predeceased by her son, Dr. Karl Edwards (Pamela Ann) Havens, III in 2019. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Andrew Havens, Jennifer (William) Empey, Kimberly (Tyler) Powell, Michael (Samantha) Alex, Jenna Havens, Nina Havens, Jack Havens, Connor Havens, Cora Havens and Kylee Havens; her step grandchildren, Sydney Wade and Daniel Wade; her great-grandchildren, William Empey, Eleanor Powell, Nolan Powell and Madeline Empey, as well as many beloved nephews and nieces. Dianne was also predeceased by her siblings, Lewis (late Susan) Lauer Jr., Paul Lauer, Richard Lauer and Arthur Lauer.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 19 from 3 – 6 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM. Interment will be held privately in Oakwood Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. Memorial offerings in Dianne’s name may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.

The Epiphany Episcopal Church in Niagara Falls was the scene of the wedding of Miss Dianne Lauer and Karl Edwards Havens Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Karl E. Havens of 1253 W. Church St., at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 1956.
The Rev. John E. Wickenden officiated at the double ring ceremony before the altar adorned with blue and white pompons. Raymond Trowman was soloist accompanied by Harold Spencer.
Given in marriage by her father, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis F. Lauer Sr. of Niagara Falls, was attired in an imported rosepoint lace over tulle gown with a long line fitted lace torso topped with a scoop neckline outlined in pleated nylon tulle. The fathered skiirt extended into a sweep train. Her scalloped pure silk illusion veil cascaded from a lace pill box. She carried a cascade of baby calla lilies.
Mrs. Lewis Lauer Jr. was matron of honor in a romance blue gown of nylon chiffon with a shirred long line bodice and a gathered double skirt. Her gown was complemented with a matching floral headpiece and a colonial bouquet of blue and white carnations and hyacinths.
Identical gowns o ballet blue were worn by Miss Shirley Jewitt of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and Mrs. Richard Lundstrom of Niagara Falls. Crystallette gowns of ballet blue were worn by the junior bridesaid, Miss Susan Foster of Buffalo, cousin of the bride, and Christine Juergens of Niagara Falls, flower girl.
Karl Juergens was best man for Mr. Havens. Ushers were Lewis Lauer Jr. and Richard Lauer, brothers of the bride, and Richard Lundstrom of Niagara Falls.
Guests were received from 5 to 8 in the parish hall.
Mr. and Mrs. Havens will honeymoon in New York City and Washington, D. C. For traveling the bride selected a two-piece beige and brown ensemble with cocoa brown accessories and an orchid corsage.
The couple will reside at 3843 DeVeaux St., Niagara Falls, after April 21.
