Betty Jagow, 78, who worked as a dietitian in many area facilities, died Sunday (Oct. 28, 2001) at home while receiving care from her family and Niagara Hospice.
Born Betty Milotta in Mount Pleasant, Pa., she was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor's degree in food service management. She had lived in Lewiston since 1957.
She began her career at the Army Air Forces Base in Dayton, OH. She retired from E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. in Niagara Falls. Prior to that, she worked at Moore Business Forms, Niagara Falls; Bell Aircraft, Wheatfield; Magnolia Terrace Restaurant in J.N. Adam Department Store, Buffalo; and Cease Commissary Co. at Fredonia State College.
Mrs. Jagow helped establish the Lewiston-Porter school lunch program.
She was a founding member of Lutheran Church of the Escarpment, where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school for 40 years. She was also active with Meals on Wheels.
Mrs. Jagow was a member of the Professional Women's Association and Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She enjoyed bowling, golf, gardening and attending plays at Niagara University.
Her husband of 41 years, Harold W., died in 1993.
Survivors include a brother, David E. Milotta of Hawaii, and two sisters, Cecelia M. Dewey and Lucy M. Hodil, both of Sun City, Ariz.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Lutheran Church of the Escarpment, Upper Mountain Road and Bronson Drive. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
