    Sylvia Carol Hilts, 85, of Sanborn, NY,  went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 19, 2018 while under the care of Niagara Hospice. She was born on  October 20, 1932 in Niagara Falls, NY,  the daughter of the late Edward and Adelia (Ferchen) Eggert.
    Mrs. Hilts was employed for several years with Union Carbide and briefly for the Tonawanda News.
    Music was a strong passion of hers, singing in the Niagara Chorale of NCCC and Festival Chorus with Douglas Wendt, Conductor.     She also sang in many local church choirs for Christmas and Easter Cantatas as well as being guest soloist for area church services, weddings and special occasions. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ.  
    She enjoyed reading and cooking, especially preparing the fish and wild game associated with the hunting and fishing adventures of her husband and sons.   She also loved to travel around the country with her husband Bill, attending various conferences and conventions.
    She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and her strong Christian faith carried her through 85 years. 
    Mrs. Hilts is survived by her husband of 63 years William R. Hilts, they were married in March of 1955,  her four children William D. (Sandra) of Lockport, Richard E. (Lynette) of North Tonawanda, David M. (Julie) of Burt and Susan Davignon of North Tonawanda,  loving grandmother to Kiel and Owen Davignon, Christian Hilts and Natalie Adelia Hilts, step-grandmother to Marla (Kyle) Costello, Keith (Brandy) Brong and Kim Brong, as well as 12 additional step-grandchildren, a brother  Noel (Joan) Eggert of North Carolina, also several nieces and nephews.
    She was a friend to many during her spiritual journey and she really appreciated the close friendship with Carol Mayer and Janelle Kroening.
    Her family will be present on Monday from 4-8 PM at RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY.

    BERGHOLTZ, Dec. 11 - Funeral services for Edward H. Eggert, which were held yesterday afternoon from Fretthold Funeral Home, North Tonawanda, at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 o'clock at the Holy Ghost Lutheran church, this village, were largely attended by relatives, friends and neighbors. The school children sang, "Abide With Me," with Arthur Eggers accompanying at the organ. The Rev. Victor Dahlke officiated. Mr. Eggert was born in this village on June 28, 1896, and attended the Holy Ghost parochial school. He was confirmed in the Holy Ghost Lutheran church. On October 7, 1928, he was united in marriage to Miss Adelia Ferchen. Last Tuesday he became ill and was rushed to Memorial hospital, Niagara Falls, where he died Friday. Mr. Eggert was a member of the Lutheran Layman's league and the 20-year club of the National Grinding Wheel company. North Tonawanda, where he was employed for over 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Adelia, one daughter, Sylvia, and one son, Noel. Also one brother, William Eggert. Ransomville; three sisters. Mrs. Frank Dutton and Mrs. Carl Behrens, Tonawanda, and Mrs. Roland Bruss, this village. The bearers were Norman DeVantier, Arthur Gombert, Edward Krull, Robert Motchenbough, Harold Pankow and Henry Siegman. Interment was in the Holy Ghost Lutheran cemetery.

    LOCKPORT - Adelia F. (Ferchen) Eggert, whose involvement with music spanned most of the century, died Friday (July 13, 1990) at the Briody Nursing Home. Mrs. Eggert, 92, was a former resident of the Ferchen Homestead, Cayuga Street, Bergholz.
    She was born on Aug. 9, 1897, the daughter of Christian and Auguste Ferchen.
    She began music lessons as a 4 year-old and began teaching music at 16. She played the piano for a four piece family orchestra when she was 16, with her sister as the soloist. She and her sister sang duets. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Lutheran Church quartet and also played at silent movies at the Shredded Wheat County, where she worked from 1918 to 1929 packing biscuits.
    Mrs. Eggert was also music chairman for the Niagara County American Legion Auxiliary and was a member of the Auxiliary for 38 years at Post 1451 on Ward Road. She was a Niagara Gazette correspondent for 10 years and a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church for 74 years, where she was a member of the church's Ladies Aid Society, the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the Lutheran League. She was also a member of the Niagara County Salon 25 of 8 and 40, Wheatfield Senior Citizens, Sanborn Senior Citizens and the First Volunteer Firemen's Ladies Auxiliary of Bergholz.
    She organized the "Happy Harmoniers" orchestra in 1953, which entertained locally for 25 years. She also took pride. in the fact that she was the first woman in Wheatfield to serve as a Niagara County jurist.
    She was the widow of Edward Eggert, who died in 1950 and sister of the late Eric Ferchen and Hugo Ferchen and the late Nora Williams. Mrs. Eggert is survived by one daughter, Sylvia Hilts of Sanborn; one son, Noel Eggert of Sanborn; and nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz.
    The Ladies Auxiliary of the Bergholz Fire Co. will hold memorial services at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home
    Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Bergholz with the Rev, Philip Sallaeh officiating. Burial will be in Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery; Contributions to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church are acceptable as tribute.

    BEROHOLTZ, July 8 - Funeral services will be held here tomorrow afternoon for Anton C. Eggert, 75, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs, Roland Bruss, Thursday morning. Mr. Eggert, who was bom in Buffalo, came to this village at the age of 15. He was one of the oldest members of the First Volunteer Fire company of this village and was a member of the Holy Ghost Lutheran church. Surviving are two sons, William C., of Niagara Falls, and Edward, of this village; four daughters, Mrs. Frank J. Dutton, of Tonawanda: Mrs. Arnold Krull, of North Tonawanda; Mrs. Cart R. Behrens, of Tonawanda, and Mrs. Roland W. Bruss. of this village. Services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the home and at 2:30 from the Holy Ghost Lutheran church, the Rev.     NORTH TONAWANDA, April 10. -Christian Frederick Ferchen, 68 years old, died Sunday night at his home in Bergholz, where he had been a lifelong resident. For 15 years he was teacher of the St. Jacob's parochial school in Bergholz. He is survived by a wife, Augusta; two sons, Hugo, Sanborn, and Errick (sic), Bergholz; two daughters, Miss Adelia Ferchen, and Mrs. Arthur Williams, Bergholz; eight grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Hattie I. Heidenfeldt, North Tonawanda, and Mrs. August Burow, Bergholz. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence and half an hour later at the Holy Ghost church, Bergholz. Rev. John Kuchenbecker officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Ghost cemetery.

    BERGHOLTZ, April 14.-The passing of Christian Frederick Ferchen, who peacefully passed away at his home in this village, at the age of 68 years, removes one of the most popular residents of this vicinity, whose life was in every respect an exemplification of Christianity and civility. Mr. Ferchen was born in this village on the 12th of August, 1859. His parents were among the first settlers of this vicinity. He at one time was a parochial school teacher for 15 years for the St. Jacob's congregation. Being of a kind, loving character, he not only endeared himself to his own family, but also to everyone with whom he came in contact. He was a talented musician, when nine years old, he started to play in a band. He also played a violin and bass viol. Mr. Ferchen had been in good health until about two weeks ago, when he was taken ill with erysipelas. The funeral services were held from the home at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 o'clock at the Holy Ghost church, Thursday. The services being conducted by the Rev. J. Kuchenbecker. He leaves a wide circle of friends, besides his wife, Auguste, two sons, Hugo of Sanborn and Erich at home, two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Williams and Miss Adelia Ferchen, at home; one brother, William Ferchen, two sisters. Mrs. Hattie Heidenfeldt and Mrs. August Burow. He also leaves eight grandchildren.
    Flower bearers were: Edgar Milleville, Theodor (sic) Heuer, Herbert Strassburg, Alfred Heidenfeldt, Martin Milleville, Clarence Wittkopp, Lester Wurl and Wilmer Wurl. Pallbearers were: John Moll, August Mueller, Fred Wurl, August Williams, Philip Mueller and August Sy. Burial was in the Holy Ghost Cemetery.

    Hold Last Rites For Mrs. Ferchen
    BERGHOLZ, June 15. - Funeral services for Mrs. Auguste Milleville Ferchen were held this afternoon from the home at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 o'clock at Holy Ghost Lutheran church with the Rev. Victor. Dahlke officiating. The senior group of the Holy Ghost school sang, "Jesus While Living and Jesus While Dying." The bearers were Christ Burow, Arthur Milleville, Cornelius Ferchen, Theodore Schmidt, David Ferchen and Edwin DeVantier. Interment was in Holy Ghost cemetery. Mrs. Ferchen was born at the Milleville homestead on the Old Falls boulevard and was a life long resident of the Town of Wheatfield for 82 years. She lived 64 years in the same house and attended school in the same house where she resided when ten years old. In 1886 she was married to Christian Ferchen, a parochial school teacher of the St. James congregation. She was the daughter of the late John and Albertine Krull Milleville. She Is survived by two sons, Hugo Ferchen, Niagara Falls, and Erich Ferchen, Bergholz; two daughters, Mrs. Arthur J. Williams. Cayuga drive, Niagara Falls, and Mrs. Edward Eggert, at home; one sister, Mrs. Bertha DeVantier, St, Johnsburg; 11 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. She was a sister of the late John William Albert Milleville and Mrs. William H. Schmidt. Mrs. Ferchen was an active member of the Holy Ghost church and of the Lutheran Women's Missionary league. She was interested in the Lutheran Hour, sponsored by the Luther Laymen's league and founded by the late Dr. Walter Maler.

    John Milleville

    John Milleville, 80 years old, one of the pioneer settlers of the town of
    Wheatfield, dropped dead at his home in Bergholtz, a suburb of this city,
    yesterday afternoon. Heart disease is attributed as the cause of death.
    The deceased was born in Germany and came here 55 years ago, locating in
    Wheatfield. Three daughters, Mrs. William Schmidt, Mrs. Christian Ferchen
    and Mrs. Fred Devantier; three sons, John, William and Albert Milleville,
    all of Bergholtz; three sisters, Mrs. Ferdinand Pfuhl, Mrs. William Haseley
    and Mrs. Albert Walck and four brothers, August, William, Ferdinand and
    Albert Williams all of the town of Wheatfield, survive. The funeral will be
    held from the late home tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o'clock and a half hour
    later from the Grabau Lutheran church at Bergholtz. Burial will be at
    Bergholtz.
