    BERGHOLZ - Eugene W. Camann, an author, historian and former accountant for Carborundum County, died Sunday in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a brief illness. He was 84.
    Born in Wheatfield, Mr.
    Camann was a longtime resident of the hamlet of Bergholz. He graduated from Holy Ghost Lutheran School in Bergholz, LaSalle High School and Harvard Business School.
    Mr. Camann worked at Carborundum for 32 years, retiring as a cost accountant. He was also an office manager for 10 years with the Eastern District office of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
    In 1975, he founded the Historical Society of North German Settlements in Western New York. He also served as curator of its Heritage Museum in Bergholz, co-founded the Bergholz German Band and was a member of the Bergholz Fire Company Band.
    Mr. Camann wrote two books - "Uprooted From Prussia, Transplanted in America" and "More Prussian Transplantings in Wheatfield" - as well as numerous historical pamphlets. He took numerous trips to Germany to do research for his books.
    Mr. Camann was a lifelong member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Bergholz, where he served as an elder, chairman of the congregation, Sunday school superintendent, choir member and on the youth and stewardship boards. He also researched and spoke on Lutheran Church history in Western New York.
    His wife of 45 years, Janice R. Wienke Camann, died in 1988.
    Survivors include four sons, David of San Antonio, TX,
    Michael of Germantown, Stephen of Waldorf, MD., and Timothy of Unadilla; four daughters, Ruth Voelker, Lois Wiseman, Mary Fuerch and Deborah Feick, all of Bergholz; two brothers, Waldemar and Roland, both of Wheatfield; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
    Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday in Holy Ghost Church, 6630 Luther St. at Niagara Road, Bergholz. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

    BERGHOLZ - Janice R. (Wienke) Camann, 65, of Luther Street, died Thursday (April 7, 1988) at her home. She was born in Niagara Falls and was a long-time resident of Bergholz. She was an active member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church Ladies Aid, Lutheran Women's Missonary (sic) League, Altar Guild and the Quilting Group. She was also active in the Historical Society of the North German Settlement in Western New York. Mrs. Camann is survived by her husband, Eugene W. Camann of Bergholz; sons, David Camann of Texas, Michael Camann of Massachusetts, Stephen Camann of Maryland and Timothy Camann of Pulaski, N.Y.; daughters, Ruth Voelker, Lois Wiseman and Mary Fuerch all of Bergholz, Deborah Camann of Cambridge, Ont.; a brother, Harold Wienke of Bergholz; and 18 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road. Services conducted by the Rev. Stephen P. Roehrs will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials to the Holy Ghost Lutheran Church Youth with a Mission or the North German Historical Society are acceptable as tribute.

Mrs. Wienke was a lifelong resident of the- Town of Wheatfield, a member of St. James Lutheran Church and former member of St. James Ladies Aide (sic) Society.     Bergholtz Woman Dies at 85 Years

    BERGHOLTZ, Jan. 13 - Mrs. Emilie Camann, 85, died last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Julius Stoelting. of this village. She was born in the town of Wheafield and had resided there all her life. Besides the daughter, she is survived by seven sons, Charles, of Tonawanda. William and John, of Niagara Falls, Frank. Albert. Edwin and Harry, all of this village; one sister, Mrs. Henry Witkop, of Pekin. 32 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 pm. from the Stoelting home and at 2:30 from the Holy Ghost Lutheran church. The Rev. John Kuchenbecker will officiate and interment will be in Holy Ghost cemetery.

    Aged Bergholtz Resident Passes
    BERGHOLTZ, April 17,-Mrs. Matilda Wienke, nee Retzlaff, 74 years old, wife of Albert Wienke, died today at her home, in Cayuga road after a brief illness. She was stricken with paralysis Sunday. She was born in Campow (sic), Germany, and had resided in this village for the past 51 years. She was a member of St. James Lutheran church and the Ladies' Aid society.
    Besides her husband, she is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Edward Jagow and Mrs. William Eggert, both of Niagara Falls, Mrs. Albert Schmeichel, of North Tonawanda, Mrs. Christ (sic) Haseley, of Sanborn, and Mrs. Gustav Moll, of Bergholtz; five sons, Adolph, of Sanborn, John, Hugo and Reinhard, all of Bergholtz. and Albert, of North Tonawanda; 34 grandchildren; seven great granchildren (sic); two brothers, Fred, of Grand Haven, Mich., and Edward, of Sanborn.     Henry Voelker, 70 years old, a lifelong resident of Bergholz, died yesterday at his home on the Niagara road. He had been in ill health for the past eleven years but it was not until Tuesday, when he was stricken with paralysis, that his condition became serious. For the past 30 years Mr. Voelker had been proprietor of a general store at Bergholz. Surviving are a wife, Augusta; three sons, John Voelker of Buffalo, Charles Voelker of Niagara Falls and Henry Voelker, Jr., of Bergholz; seven daughters, the Misses Louise and Esther Voelker of Los Angeles, Mrs. Lebrecht Schultz and Mrs. Albert Grobengieser of Niagara Falls and Mrs. George Heuer, Mrs. Valerius Ferchen and Mrs. Remhard Wienke of Bergholz, and 20 grandchildren. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence and half an hour later, standard time, from the St. Jacob's church. Rev. Otto Bruss officiating. Interment will be in the St. Jacob's cemetery.

    Funeral of Henry Voelker Is Held
    Was Born in Bergholtz; Had Lived There 70 Years.
    BERGHOLTZ, July 28.-Henry Voelker, Sr., of Niagara street, who died at his home, removes one of the best known residents of Niagara county. Born in this village 70 years ago, he lived here all his life. For the past 30 years he had been proprietor of a general store on Niagara. street. Last week Tuesday he was stricken with paralysis from which he died Thursday morning. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the family home, and the St. Jacob's church, the Rev. Otto Bruss officiating. Burial was in St. Jacob's cemetery. The floral tributes were many And beautiful. He leaves a wide circle of friends, and is survived by his wife, Augusta. three sons, John of Buffalo, Charles, Niagara Falls, and Henry Jr. of this village, seven daughters, the Misses Louise and Esther Voelker, of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Leberecht Schultz and Mrs. Albert Grobengieser, of Niagara Falls, and Mrs. George Heuer, Mrs. Valerius Ferchen and Mrs. Reinhard Wienke, of this village, and 20 grandchildren.
