    NORTH TONAWANDA — George H. Camann, age 88, of North Tonawanda on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, after a brief illness. George lived in Bergholtz prior to moving to North Tonawanda in 1953. He worked at the Wurlitzer Company as an Organ Tuner until its closing. He then joined the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1987 after 29 years of service in North Tonawanda.

    George was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster and 2 Purple Hearts. He was at the Battles of Ardennes, Central Europe, Rhineland and Normandy.

    Husband of the late Jean M. (nee Wiseman) Camann. Brother of the late Carl Camann, Natalie Camann, Doris Flett and Anita Edwards.

    Beloved father of Joan (David) Lukasavich, George (Ruth) Camann and Carol (John) Dowd, all of North Tonawanda. Proud grandfather of Lynne, Steven (Karrie), Jeffrey (Kelly) Lukasavich, George (Claire) Camann and Valerie (Neil) Haseley. Great-grandfather of Cole, Ella, Reed, Logan, Parker Lukasavich and Margaret, Elizabeth and Georgia Camann. Brother-in-law of Velma Camann and Robert Edwards. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

    Friends received by the family on Wednesday (February 6, 2013), from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at the Brunner Funeral Home (692-3841), 156 Robinson St., North Tonawanda, where services will be held at 8:00 PM. Jean was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario and moved to the United States as a child. She lived in Niagara Falls and Bergholz and then moved to North Tonawanda in 1953. Daughter of the late John and Johanna Wiseman. Sister of the late June Schmidt.
    Beloved wife for 60 years of George Camann of North Tonawanda, Loving mother of Joan (David) Lukasavich, George (Ruth) Camann and Carol (John) Dowd all of North Tonawanda, Dear sister of Patricia (James) O'Farrell of Bergholz and William (late Joyce) Wiseman of Florida.     chrysanthemums, pompons and
    palms decorated the altar of the St.
    James Lutheran church when Miss
    Jean Wiseman, daughter of Mr. and
    Mrs. John Wiseman, of Bergholtz,
    and Mr. George Camann, son of
    Mrs. Minnie Camann, were united in
    marriage with the Rev. Otto Bruss
    officiating.
    Given in marriage by her father,
    the bride wore a gown of white
    satin and lace. The bodice was
    chantilly lace fashioried with a
    sweetheart neckline and long sleeves
    coming to a point over the wrist.
    She wore pearls, the gift of the
    bridegroom and carried a bouquet of
    white roses and mums.
    Miss Patricia Wiseman, sister of
    the' bride, who was the maid of
    honor wore a gown of blue brocaded
    satin and net.
    The bridesmaid. Miss Natalie
    Camann, sister of the groom, and
    Miss June Wiseman, sister of the
    bride, wore gowns Identical to that
    of the maid of honor.
    Mr. Carl Camann. brother of the
    groom, was the best man. Mr.
    Eugene Camann and Mr. Warren
    Camann, cousins of the groom, were
    the ushers.
    The bride's mother wore a black
    crepe dress. The groom's mother was
    also attired In a black dress and
    wore a corsage of white mums. Mr.
    Martin Brauer sang, accompanied
    at the organ by Rev. Marcus Mueller.
    Following the ceremony, there was
    a wedding dinner at the Samovar
    for members of the bridal party and
    families. A reception was held at
    the Bergholtz Fire hall after the
    dinner.
    Mr. and Mrs. George Camann left
    on a wedding trip to Illion.

    George W. Camann, 50 years old, of Bergholz, died early this morning at the Memorial hospital, Niagara Falls. He was taken ill a few days ago and was operated on at the hospital yesterday for intestinal trouble.
    Camann had lived in Bergholz practically all his life. He is survived by a wife, two sons, Carl and George, Jr.; four daughters, the Misses Doris, Natalia, Anita and Thelma; a mother, Mrs. Emily Camann, all of Bergholz; seven brothers, Charles C. Camann, Tonawanda; William and John Camann, LaSalle; Frank, Albert, Edwin and Harry Camann of Bergholz, and a sister, Mrs. Julius Stoelting, Bergholz.
    The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence and half an hour later at the Holy Ghost church, Rev. John Kuchenbecker officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Ghost cemetery.

Mrs. Camann was a member of the Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, The Ladies Aid Society and The Women's Missionary League. She is survived by 2 sons, Carl W. and George H., both of North Tonawanda; 2 daughters, Mrs. Harold (Doris) Flett of Niagara Falls and Natalie V. Camann of Town of Wheatfield. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren. Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Road, North Tonawanda, until Sunday 1 p.m. The body will lie in state in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Bergholtz from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. Sunday, time of service. The family will be in attendance from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The Rev. Albert W. Bahr will officiate. Interment in Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Holy Ghost Lutheran Church Building Fund.
