Mary Helen (Mills) Kalita, lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.  She was 85.  She was born in Niagara Falls on April 3, 1938, a daughter of the late William H. and Helen M. (MacPherson) Mills, Jr.  She attended local schools and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Niagara Falls.
She married Peter Kalita in 1960 and they remained happily married for 63 years until her passing.  She worked as an operator for New York Telephone and then worked for Jenss Department Store and then later for Reeds-Jenss.  Mrs. Kalita enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and loved her time with her family.
In addition to her husband she is survived by three children: Barbara (Daniel) Argona, Michael (Kathy) Kalita and Jeffrey (Michele L. ) Kalita and 9 grandchildren: Phillip (Kelly) Argona, Eric, Julie and Karyn Kalita, Alexandra Plooster and Victoria Kalita, Michael and Jacob McCracken, Michele E. Kalita
She is also survived by 7 siblings: Richard Mills, Edward (Jackie) Mills, Terry Mills, Susan Mills, Michael (late Sue) Mills, Catherine Lodwick and George Mills, brother in law Ted (late Ann) Kozlowski and three sisters in law: Pat (late William) Mills, Joyce (late Robert) Mills and Natalie (late Thomas) Mills, along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Mark (late Bonnie) Kalita and 5 siblings: Ann (Ted) Kozlowski, Nancy Pack, Willaim (Patricia) Mills, Robert (Joyce) Mills and Thomas (Natalie) Mills.
