    SANBORN — Eugene A. Pfohl, age 64, of Sanborn, was called peacefully to his heavenly home on January 20, 2014, while under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice. Born in the Town of Lewiston, NY on April 10, 1949, he was the son of the late Erwin and Elenora (DeVantier) Pfohl. Eugene was a 1967 graduate of Niagara Wheatfield High School. He was employed for 33 years at the former family business, Sanborn Milling Company, and 13 years as a truck driver with AT&A Trucking. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and attending classic car shows. Eugene spent countless hours working on his prized possession, a 1967 Dodge RT, of which he won several trophies and plaques. He was an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church-LCMC in Walmore, spent many years and really enjoyed coaching the St. Peter's boys and girls high school basketball team, and greatly enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren.

    Survivors include his son, Scott (Joelle) Pfohl; grandchildren, Ryan and Nicholas Pfohl; a sister, Ann Kroening; niece, Lynn Hebeler; nephew, Lee (Lynette) Kroening; and great-nieces and nephews, Jarred and Brianne Hebeler, Ian, Colin and Ella Kroening. Also predeceased by a brother, Loren Pfohl.

    Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME (731-3234), 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz), in Wheatfield on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Bruce Gamache on Saturday, January 25, at 11:00 AM in St. Peter's LCMC Church, Walmore Road. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.

    WHEATFIELD - Erwin G. Pfohl, 75, of Lockport Road, died Dec. 15, 1993, in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda.
    Pfohl was born in Wheatfield on Nov. 12, 1918, the son of Anthony and Elsie (Haseley) Pfohl, and was a lifelong Wheatfield resident. In 1948, he and Clarence Kroening formed a partnership to operate the Sanborn Milling Co. Inc. He later bought Kroening's share. and continued to operate the business for another 15 years until his retirement in 1983.
    Pfohl was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn, where he held various positions over the years. He. was an exempt member of. the Sanborn Fire Co. and the Sanborn Lions Club, and a former member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club.
    He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
    He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Eleanor H. Devantier) Pfohl; a daughter, Ann Kroening of Sanborn; a son, Eugene Pfohl of Sanborn; a brother, Hubert Pfohl of Sanborn; a sister, Agnes Walck of Niagara Falls; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at the DuBois Funeral Home, Bergholz, and St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn. Burial was in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
    Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran School, Sanborn, or the Sanborn Fire Co.

    Services for Erwin G. Pfohl, former owner of Sanborn Milling County, will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6167 Walmore Road. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. Pfohl, 75, of Lockport Road, died Wednesday (Dec. 15, 1993) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda, after a long illness. A lifelong resident of Wheatfield, he began a partnership in 1948 with Clarence Kroening in Sanborn Milling Co. After 30 years, Pfohl bought out Kroening's share and continued to operate the business until he retired in 1983.     Elenora H. Pfohl (DeVantier), age 93, of Wheatfield, was called peacefully to her heavenly home to be with our Lord, on Thursday, April 29, 2010, in the comfort of her home, with her loving family at her side. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY, on July 30, 1916 to the late Albert and Ella (Milleville) DeVantier. Elenora was baptized, confirmed and later united in marriage to Erwin G. Pfohl on October 12, 1940, in St. James Ev. Lutheran Church, Bergholz. Erwin predeceased her on December 15, 1993. Elenora and Erwin became members of St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Walmore, in 1940. She was very active in the church, holding various positions over the years, and with the church's Women of the Church and the Women's Quilting Group, sending hundreds of quilts to those in need in other countries. Her hobbies included sewing, playing cards, cooking and baking. Elenora's life was centered on her family and her greatest joy in life came in spending time with them. Lovingly known to many as "Gramma Peeps", she spent countless hours babysitting her great-grandchildren and taught them German prayers. She was admired by her family for her strong faith and devotion to God and her family.
    Elenora was the beloved mother of Ann Kroening and Eugene (Candy) Pfohl; admired grandmother of Lynn Hebeler, Lee and Lynette Kroening, and Scott and Joelle Pfohl; cherished great-grandmother of Jarred and Brianne Hebeler, Ian, Colin and Ella Kroening, Ryan and Nicholas Pfohl. She was also predeceased by a son, Loren Pfohl in 1960; son-in- law, Albert (Jr.) Kroening in 2000; and sister, Helma Haseley in 1991.

    Walmore Farmer Called by Death
    Anthony Pfuhl Lives Only Few Hours After Stroke
    WALMORE. Jan.10.-Anthony Pfuhl, 54 years old, well known Walmore farmer died yesterday in the same house in which he was born on the Lockport road. Mr. Pfuhl was seized with a stroke yesterday while attending a meeting at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran church here. He was removed to his home and expired at 11 o'clock last night.
    Mr. Pfuhl was a son of the late Ferdinand and Augusta (sic) Pfuhl, pioneer settlers of the Walmore district. He was a prominent member of St. Peter's church and active in Walmore village affairs.
    Funeral services will be held from the family home on Sunday, January 13, at 2 o'clock, and at 2:30 from St. Peter's church. The Rev. Edward Grabau will officiate. Interment will be in Walmore cemetery.
    Mr. Pfuhl is survived by his wife, Elsie Haseley Pfuhl; two daughters, Mrs. Edward Walck and Mrs. Theodore Walck, both of Sanborn; two sons, Hubert and Ivan (sic), both at home; two brothers, Ferdinand Pfuhl, of Wolcottsville, and John Pfuhl, of Walmore; three sisters, Mrs. William DeVantier and Mrs. Charles Haseley, of Niagara Falls, and Mrs. Anna Koening (sic), of Pekin, and three grandchildren.

    PFUHL RITES HELD
    Services for Lockport Road Resident Are Largely Attended.
    SANBORN, Jan. 15.-The funeral of Anthony Pfuhl, age 54, which was held at 2 o'clock on Sunday afternoon from his home, Lockport road, and at 2:30 at St. Peter's Lutheran church, was one of the largest ever held in this section.
    The bearers included Fred Walck, Adolph De Vantier (sic), Hubert Haseley, Tony Walck, Albert Haseley and Albert Pfuhl. Flower bearers included Edna Walck, Irma Walck, Mayrian (sic) Haseley, Dorothy Haseley, Irving Walck, Max Pfuhl, Philip Haseley and Norman De Vantier (sic).
    Rev. Edward Graubau (sic) was assisted in the service by Rev. Alfred Walck, of St. Paul, MN Interment was in Walmore cemetery.

    LA SALLE, May l6.-Mrs. Ella DeVantier, nee Milleville, 37 years old of the Bergholtz road, died Saturday, May 14, after a short illness. The funeral services will be held tomorrow from the home at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 from the St. James Lutheran church. The Rev. O. Bruss will officiate. Mrs. DeVantier was one of the best known of the younger residents of the Bergholtz road district and her loss will be mourned by a wide circle of friends. She is survived by her husband, Albert P. DeVantier, two daughters, Eleanor and Helma, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Milleville, and the following brothers and sisters: Hugo, Carl, Martin, Mrs. Edward R. DeVantier, Mrs. John N. Nueller (sic), Jr., Helen and Eslie (sic) of La Salle, Mrs. Alfred E. Walck, of St. Pau1. Minn.. and Edgar Milleville of Buffalo.

    BERGHOLTZ, May 19.-Mrs. Ella De Vantier, nee Millerville (sic), 37 years old, who died at the family home on Niagara street last Saturday evening, May 14th, after a short illness, removes one of the most well known residents of Niagara County, whose life was in every respect an exemplification of Christianity and civility. Had she lived, she would have celebrated her 38th birthday on Friday, May 20th. The funeral services were held from the home on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and from the St. Jacob church at 2.30 o'clock. The Rev. Otto Bruss officiated. Mrs. De Vantier will be sadly missed by all her old and new friends, and will be deeply mourned by her husband, Albert De Vantier, two young daughters, Eleanor and Helma, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugo, Carl, Edgar and Martin and five sisters, Mrs. Rev. Alfred Walck of St. Paul, MN, Mrs. Edward De Vantier. Mrs. John Mueller. Jr., and the Misses Helene and Elsie Milleville. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Pall bearers were: Herbert Millville (sic), Erich Ferchen, Edward Zimermann (sic), Hugo De Vantier, Theodor Schmidt and Philip Jagow. Burial was on the St. Jacob's cemetery.
