    Walter H. Frerichs, 48, of Old Falls Blvd., Town of Wheatfield, passed away suddenly yesterday of a heart attack. Born in Maza, N. D., he resided the greater part of his life in the Town of Wheatfield, and was employed as a millwright at Niagara Alkali. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Bergholz and the Bergholz Fire Company. Survived by his wife Gladys, nee Runge, a son Walter Jr., his daughter Judith Ann, all at home; two sisters, Mrs. Richard Parris of Bergholz and Mrs. John N. Martin of Niagara Falls, N. Y.; three brothers, Lester of North Tonawanda, Theodore of Bergholz and Herbert of Wilson. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 P.M. in the residence and at 2:30 P.M. in St. James Church. The Rev. Otto Bruss will officiate. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.

    Gladys V. Frerichs, 81, a foster grandparent, died Sunday (Aug. 4, 1991) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston.
    The former Gladys Runge worked at Wilbert's Tavern, now known as Barney's Grandsons, for 18 years.
    Mrs. Frerichs, of Wheatfield, was a foster grandparent at Mount St. Mary's Hospital for 10 years and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Bergholz.
    Survivors include a son, Walter of the Town of Tonawanda, and a daughter, Judy of Buffalo.
    Services will be held at 2 P.M. Tuesday in St. James Lutheran Church, 2435 Niagara Road. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery

    Herman Frerichs, 74, of the Niagara Road, Berghoitz, died Saturday afternoon in the Memorial Hospital, Niagara Falls. Born in Germany, he came to America at the age of 18. He had resided in Bergholtz the past 32 years. He leaves four sons, Walter, Lester and Herbert of Berghoitz and Theodore of North Tonawanda; two daughters, Mrs. Richard Parris of Bergholtz and Mrs. John Martin of Niagara Fails; nine grandchildren and a brother, George of Jamestown, N.     Woman Dies as Result Of Stroke Suffered Sunday
    North Tonawanda, June 27-Stricken with cerebral hemorrhage while attending the picnic of St. James Church at Bergholz late yesterday afternoon, Mrs. Clara Augusta Frerichs, 58, of the Niagara Road, Bergholz, died today at the DeGraff Memorial Hospital without regaining consciousness.
    Mrs. Frerichs was a life-long resident of the Town of Wheatfield, and members of her family were with her when she was stricken. She was removed to the hospital immediately. She was a member of the St. James Church and of the Ladies' Aid Society of the church. Surviving are her husband, Herman; two daughters, Mrs. Richard Parris and Mrs. John Martin, Niagara Falls; four sons, Lester, Niagara Falls, and Walter, Theodore and Herbert, Bergholz; four grandchildren, a brother, Howard Retzlaff, Bergholz, and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Attl, LaKota (sic), N. D., and Mrs. Fred Eismann, Buffalo. Services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 from the residence and at 2.30 in the St. James Church. Interment will be in St. James Cemetery.

    TOWN OF WHEATFIELD, Sept. 19 - Charles A. Runge, 72, of the Ward Rd., died this morning in Memorial Hospital, Niagara Falls, after a brief illness. Born in Wheatfield, he was a lifelong resident of this township. He was employed at the National Grinding Wheel Co., North Tonawanda, for 29 years. Mr. Runge was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, St. Johnsburg. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Agatha Schmidt Runge; a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Frerichs, both of this town; two sisters, Mrs. August Goerss of North Tonawanda and Mrs. Theodore Durrow of Newfane, and two grandchildren. Friends may call at the residence of Mrs. Frerichs, Old Falls Blvd., opposite, the Bell plant, where services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. J. Walter Thiemecke, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.

She had resided in Bergholtz for the last 60 years, having come to America when only four years old. She is survived by her husband, August; three daughters, Mrs. Henry Fredericks.     Funeral of W. H. Schmidt
    Lockport, June 4-The funeral of William H. Schmidt, Ward road, town of Wheatfield, Niagara court crier and justice of the peace, who succumbed Monday to injuries in an automobile accident, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2.30 o'clock, standard time. Services will be conducted at the Lutheran church at Bergholtz.

    Peace Justice William Schmidt, 71, Dies Here Few Hours After Collision.
    DRIVER ARRESTED
    Joseph Szeraj (sic) May Face Manslaughter Charge; Victim Well Known in County.
    Peace Justice William Schmidt, 71 years old, of the Ward road, Town of Wheatfield, court crier of Niagara County, died at 10:30 o'clock today in Memorial hospital (sic) of injuries received in an automobile accident at 7:30 o'clock this morning, Hulmuth Mallenthine, also of the Ward road, driver of the automobile in which Mr. Schmdit (sic) was riding when the accident occurred, received minor cuts and bruises.
    Driver is held.
    Joseph Czekaj, who lives at the intersection of the Town Line road and the Lockport road, driver of the automobile which crashed into the machine in which Mr. Schmidt and Mr. Mallenthine were riding, was arrested by Undersheriff Ira Cowdrick following the crash. He was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Treichler, of Sanborn, and was held in $1,000 bail on a charge of reckless driving. Undersheriff Cowdrick said the charge would probably be changed to one of manslaughter.
    The accident occurred at the intersection of the Lockport road and the Ward road. Mr. Schmidt and Mr. Mallenthine were on their way to Lockport, Mr. Schmidt to serve as court crier and Mr. Mallenthine to answer a summons for duty on the grand jury. The Mallenthine car was being driven north in the Ward road when it was struck by Czekaj's car, which was coming east in the Lockport road. Mallenthine's car was overturned by the impact and Mr. Schmidt was pinned beneath the wreckage,
    Undersheriff Cowdrick said that his investigation showed that Czekaj neglected to heed a stop sign before he drove onto the intersection.
    Draper Investigating
    Dr. W. L. Draper, coroner, of Niagara. Falls, is investigating the fatality. Dr. William Peart attended Schmidt.
    Mr. Schmidt was born in Germany and came to the United States 61 years ago. He has lived in Niagara county since coming to this country and was one of the best known residents of the county. He was a former supervisor for the Town of Wheatfield and served as court crier and justice of the peace for many years.
    He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Albertine Milleville Schmidt, of the town of Wheatfield; two sons, John and Theodore Schmidt, both of the Town of Wheatfield, and four daughters, Mrs. William Lynch and Mrs. Ella Read of Niagara Falls, Mrs. Charles Runge, of St. Johnsburg, and Mrs. Anna Schendel, of the Town of Wheatfield.

    Mrs. Wilhelmina Schmidt, 75 years old, died today at her home on the Ward road, town of Wheatfield, after an illness of a week. She was a lifelong resident of the town. She was the wife of the late William H. Schmidt, court crier in the county court at Lockport for many years, who was killed in an automobile accident at the junction of the Ward and Lockport roads a few years ago. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Charles Runge and Mrs. Henry Schendel, Wheatfield, and Mrs. George Reid, Niagara Falls; two sons, John and Theodore, Wheatfield; five grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Christ Ferchen and Mrs. Bertha DeVantier, and three brothers, John, William and Albert Milleville, Wheatfield.     SCHMIDT RITES
    Esteemed Bergholtz Resident Is Laid to Her Final Rest.
    BERGHOLTZ, April 16.-Funeral services for Mrs. William H. Schmidt, nee Albertine Milleville, 75 years old, who died Tuesday, were from 2 :45 from St. Peter's Lutheran church at Walmore. The Rev. Otto Bruss officiated.
    Mrs. Schmidt was born on February 4, 1859, in this village. Her parents were among the first settlers of this town. She attended school here. In the year 1882 she was married to William H. Schmidt, who was for a number of years before his death court crier in county court, Lockport, and who was fatally injured several years ago in an auto accident.
    Mrs. Schmidt was of a kind and loving Christian character. She not only endeared herself to her own family but to every one with whom she came in contact. She was a member of the St. Jacobi Lutheran church. Six nephews were bearers. They are Martin Milleville. Gerhard Milleville, Erich Ferchen, Ben De Vantier, Edward Milleville and Philip Milleville. Honorary bearers were the Misses Sophia Milleville and Elsie Milleville, Interment was in St. Jacobi cemetery.

    NORTH TONAWANDA, April 10-Mrs. Wilhemina (sic), Schmidt, 75, died today at her home in the Ward road, town of Wheatfield, after a week's illness. She was a lifelong resident and the wife of the late William H.     Mrs. Schmidt is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Charles Runge and Mrs. Henry Schundel, of Wheatfield, and Mrs. George Reid, of Niagara Falls; two sons, John and Theodore, both of Wheatfield; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Christ (sic) Ferchen and Mrs. Bertha Deventier, and three brothers, John, William and Albert Milleville, all of the town of Wheatfield.
    The funeral will be hed (sic) Friday afternoon at 2 o'cock (sic) from the house and at 2:45 from the Walmore Lutheran church. Interment will be in St. Jacob's cemetery.
