John Heuer, charter member of Bergholz Fire Company, dies
John A. Heuer, 79, a charter member of the First Volunteer Fire Company of Bergholz, died today in DeVeaux Manor Nursing Home in Niagara Falls.
Mr. Heuer, of 6906 Errick Road, Wheatfield, was a lifelong resident of that town, and a member of St. James Lutheran Church and the St. James Brotherhood.
A long-time fire chief in Bergholz, he was a member of many volunteer firemen's and fire chiefs associations. These included the Niagara County Volunteer Fire Chiefs Association, New York State Association of Fire Chiefs, Niagara County Volunteer Firemen's Association, State of New York Firemen's Association and Western New York Firemen's Association.
He also was a member of the Retired Men's Service Club of the Niagara Frontier, the Wheatfield Democratic Club and the Senior Citizens of the Town of Wheatfield.
In 1966, he received the Fire Service Award of the Western New York Volunteer Firemen's Association for "betterment of fire service in the community."
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Benjamin (Dorothy) Wolf and Mrs. Roy (Lydia) Masters; three sons, Clarence, Harold and James Heuer, all of Wheatfield; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry of North Tonawanda, and the Rev. Louis Heuer of Grove City, Ohio, and two sisters, Mrs. Louise Voelker of Niagara Falls and Mrs. Fred Dinger of Winterhaven, Fla.
Services will be conducted in St. James Lutheran Church, Bergholz, at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Interment will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery.

Mrs. Heuer dies at 77
Mrs. Esther E. Heuer. 77, of 2426 Jagow Road, Town of Wheatfield, died Saturday (Sept. 4, 1971) in Memorial Medical Center after a short illness. She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church, the Ladies' Aid Society and the Women of the Church. Survivors include her husband. John A. Heuer; two daughters, Mrs. Benjamin (Dorothy) Wolf and Mrs. Roy (Lydia) Masters, both of Niagara Falls; three sons, Clarence, Harold and James Heuer, all of North Tonawanda; three sisters, Mrs. Hugo Milleville, Mrs. Herbert Stoelting and Mrs. Gustav Pfohl, all or Niagara Falls; and two brothers, John Mueller of this city and Benjamin Mueller of North Tonawanda. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. James Lutheran Church, Bergholtz. PANKOW – William C. Pankow, 66 of Niagara Falls Blvd., Town of Wheatfield, died suddenly Tuesday morning (Feb. 3, 1959) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Pankow was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Laymen’s League, a charter member of the Adams Fire Co. and was employed at the Carborundum Co. 42 years, retiring a year ago.
He is survived by his wife Charlotte (nee McGill); four sons, George, Wallace, Vernon and Harld Pankow; three daughters, Mrs. Josephine Moll, Mrs. Clarence Heuer and Mrs. Harold Heuer, all of the Town of Wheatfield; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters Mrs. Albert Wrblow and Mrs. Marie Heidenfeldt, both of North Tonawanda, and Mrs. Louise Doebler of Newfane; also surviving are a half-brother Arthur Pieper and a half-sister Mrs. Henry Hardy.
Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home, 1241 Oliver St. and Ward Rd., where service will be held a 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. J. Walter Thiemecke will officiate. Interment St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.

Henry Heuer Dies at Bergholtz Home
Born in Wheatfield; Funeral. Services Monday Afternoon.
BERGHOLTZ, March 2.-Henry Heuer, 73 years old, lifelong resident and farmer of Niagara county, died yesterday at his home in Bergholtz following a brief illness.
The deceased was born in the town of Wheatfield and spent all of his life, with the exception of seven years on the same farm. Seven years ago he retired and has lived in Bcrgholtz since that time.
He is survived by his wife, Christine; six sons, Fred C. of Niagara Falls, David C., George M., Henry Jr., and John A., of Bergholtz, and the Rev. Louis E. Heuer, of Akron, N. Y. Four daughters, Mrs. William Wittkop, North Tonawanda, Mrs. John Gombert and Mrs. Carl Voelker, Niagara Falls, and Mrs. Fred Dinger, of Bergholtz,
