    Born in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, Dick attended Capital University before entering the life insurance industry as a general agent, manager and brokerage director, retiring in March of 2006 from Comprehensive Planning, Inc. He was a past-President and board member of the Reynoldsburg, OH J.C.'s Summit Umpire's Association and the Akron Life Underwriters Association. He also served as board member of the Akron Chapter of Chartered Life Underwriters, and former Chairman of the National Brokerage Council. He also was a well-known instructor and speaker for the life insurance industry. Dick's love of baseball led him to play semi-pro with the Detroit Tigers, coaching youth and high school baseball, where he was named Suburban coach of the year at Highland High School and to umpiring high school and college games. Dick was a long time member of Rawiga Country Club and a founding member of the Wolf Pack.

    Preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Elfriede Heuer. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat (nee Welker); sister, Norma (Dick) Costo of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY; sons, Eric (Beth) and John; step daughters, Krista Mercer and Kara Macko (Stephen); grandson, Hayden Macko; cousins and nephews and their families.

    Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Wednesday, September 6, at Carlson Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Rd. (corners of River Styx and Rt. 18) Medina, OH. Friends may call Tuesday, September 5, from 4 to 8 P.M. at Carlson Funeral Home, Medina. Interment at Medina Township Cemetery (Fenn Rd). Memorials can be made in Dick's honor to the Medina County Salvation Army or the Make a Wish Foundation, Northeast Ohio Chapter.

    Norman S. Heuer, 69, a former resident of Niagara Falls, died yesterday (Jan. 17, 1983) in Eustis, Fla. He was a native of this city and was employed at Heuer's Dairy and the Carborundum Co. He was also employed by Niagara County at one time and moved to Florida five years ago. He was a member of St. Paul Calvary Lutheran Church here. He is survived by his wife, Elfriede Boes Heuer; a son, Richard F. Heuer of Wadsworth, OH; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Norma) Costo of this city; and five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in Eustis tomorrow. Contributions to the American Heart Association or St. Paul Calvary Lutheran Church will be acceptable as tribute

    NIAGARA FALLS - Elfriede Heuer died Thursday in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Home, Lewiston, after a long illness. She was 89.
    She was born Elfriede Boes in Dusseldorf, Germany. Her family emigrated to the United States and settled in Niagara Falls when she was 8 years old. She attended Niagara Falls High School and the former Trott Vocational High School.
    Mrs. Heuer was a clerical worker for about six years at the Niagara County Social Services Department. She also worked for Vanadium Corp., Titanium Alloys Manufacturing Co. and the former Beir's department store.
    She moved to Eustis, Fla., in 1980 and lived there for 18 years before returning to Niagara Falls.
    Her husband of 45 years, Norman F., died in January 1983.
    Survivors include a son, Richard of Medina, OH; a daughter, Norma Costo of Niagara Falls; five grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday in DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield.

    Funeral Services for Prominent Falls Milk Dealer Largely Attended. Funeral services for Fred C. Heuer, prominent Falls milk dealer who died last Thursday, following a short illness, were held from the family home, 1626 Cleveland avenue, Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. and at 3 o'clock from St. Paul's Lutheran church, with the Rev. Gustav Ziemer officiating. The very large attendance at the funeral and the profusion of floral offerings testified to the esteem in which the deceased was held by many friends and business acquaintances. The services were also attended by a large delegation of Falls milk dealers. Following the church services the remains were taken to Bergholtz for interment in the Bergholtz cemetery. The pall bearers were Henry Sy, John Devantier, Philip Williams, Lebrecht Schultz, Fred Werth and Edward Neubauer.
