    NORTH TONAWANDA — Jean D. (Wrege) Phillips, age 88, of North Tonawanda, was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at her residence. Born in North Tonawanda, NY, on June 18, 1923 to the late William and Elizabeth (Hoffmeister) Wrege.

    She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda and was a devoted homemaker. Jean was the beloved wife of the late George M. Phillips and was also predeceased by a brother, William Wrege, Jr.

    Loving mother of four children, Sharyn E., Daniel G., David M. (Marsha), all of North Tonawanda and Dennis P. of Fort Meyers Beach, FL; also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Wednesday from 4-7 PM. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:00 PM following visitation. Interment will take place on Thursday in White Chapel Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Niagara Hospice.

    One of the loveliest of the holiday
    weddings took place Christmas afternoon
    at 3 o'clock in St. Mark's
    Evangelical Lutheran church. North
    Tonawanda, when - Miss Jean D.
    Wrege and Petty Officer First Class
    George M. Phillips, U. S. N., ex-
    changed marriage vows, with the
    Rev. Paul Fretthold, of North Tona-
    wanda, officiating.
    The bride is the daughter of Mr.

    and Mrs. William F. Wrege, Jr., of
    389 Frederica street. North Tonawanda,
    and the bridegroom Is the
    son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel G.
    Phillips, of Tuscarora road, this
    city.
    Two beautiful Christmas trees
    and baskets of white pom poms
    were the effective decorations for
    the church. Prior to the traditional
    wedding march Mr. A. Johanna
    sang "The Lord Is My Shepherd."
    The bride, who entered the church
    on the arm of her father, wore a
    gown of white satin designed with
    fitted bodice, the sleeves puffed at
    the shoulders and tightly fitted to
    the pointed wrist, with round escalloped
    neckline. Her fingertip veil
    fell from a dainty tiara of orange
    blossoms. She carried a bouquet of
    white starlight roses and white
    sweet peas tied with wide satin
    ribbon.
    Miss Gladys Wrege. of North
    Tonawanda, cousin of the bride, as
    maid of honor wore a gown of blue
    satin with sweetheart neckline, the
    net skirt bouffant. She carried a
    bouquet of white mums, pink and
    white sweet peas and baby's breath,
    tied with blue streamers. '
    Miss Virginia Hoffmeister. of
    Kenmore, N. Y.. was the bridesmaid.
    Her gown was fashioned on the
    same lines as that of the maid of
    honor in a lovely pink shade. She
    carried a bouquet of white mums
    and pink and white sweet peas tied
    with pink streamers.
    Private First Class James May,
    U. S. A . was the best man. with
    Mr. William Wrege, 3d. brother of
    the bride, and Mr. Daryl Davis as

    ushers.
    The mother of the, bride wore a
    gown of aqua crepe and the mother
    of the bridegroom wore a gown of
    black crepe. Each wore a corsage of
    roses and mums.
    Immediately after the Impressive
    ceremony there was a dinner at the
    Delaware hotel, where places for 14
    were arranged. The reception was
    held at 7 o'clock. The bride's table
    was centered with a wedding cake
    topped with a miniature bride and
    sailor bridegroom.
    Among the out-of-town guests attending

    the wedding and reception
    was Lieutenant Harrison Nablo, of
    Camp Claiborne. La. After the first
    of the year the bridegroom will leave
    for Washington, D. C, his bride
    Joining him at a later date.

    of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hoffmeister
    of Whitmer road, and William Wax
    Wrege, son of Mr. and Mrs. William

    ed yesterday afternoon at St. Jacob's
    church. Bergholtz, Rev. Otto Brust
    officiating. Miss Ella Hofmeister
    s i s t e r of t h e bride, was maid ot honor
    and Walter Wrege, brother of the
    bridegroom, was best man. Miss Luna
    Hofmeister, sister of the bride, was
    bridesmaid and Edward B. Schroeder
    was usher.
    The bride wore a white satin dress
    with shadow lace and georgette trimmings
    and carried a bouquet of white
    roses. The maid of honor and tlie
    bridesmaid wore dresses of white and
    carried bouquets of white peonies.
    Many valuable presents were receiv-
    ed by the bridal couple.

    William Wrege, Sr., 72-year-old

    Wheatfield. He is survived by his

    NORTH TONAWANDA, April 24 - Mrs. Mary C. Wrege. 68, died yesterday at her home, 225 Ward road. Born in Germany, she came to America when a young woman and had resided in this locality since. She is survived by three sons, Herman and William, Jr., of North Tonawanda, and Walter, of Dunkirk; three daughters, Mrs. Hubert Holland, of Niagara. Ealls, Mrs, Otto Zimmerman, of North Tonawanda, and Mrs. George Sattelberg, of the Town of Wheatfield; 20 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Herman Wrege, of Ransomville, and a brother, August Piepenhagen, of Wilson. Funeral services will 'be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence and at 2:30 from the St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran church In Washington street. The Rev. Paul Fretthold will conduct the rites. Burial will be in St. Mark's cemetery.

    HOFFMEISTER FUNERAL
    Loss of Witmer Road Resident Mourned by Many Relatives.
    BERGHOLTZ, Jan. 16,-The funeral services for Frederick Hoffmeister, 73 years old, who died suddenly of heart disease at his home on the Witmer road last Sunday morning while getting ready to go to church, was held Tuesday afternoon from the home at 2 o'clock and a half hour later in the St. James church. Interment was in St. James cemetery, south of this village. He is survived by three sons, William, at home, Fred, of New York City. and John, of Buffalo; five daughters. Mrs. Alma Nablo and Mrs. Elizabeth Wrege, of North Tonawanda, Mrs. Christine De Vantier, of Walmore, Mrs. Ella Schroeder, of St. Johnsburg, and Mrs. Magdalena Jagow, south of this village; 25 grandchildren, three brothers and five sisters.

    NORTH TONAWANDA, Oct. 11.- Mrs. El1zabeth Hoffmeister, 69 years old, died Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Regge (sic), 100 Washington street. She was born in the town of Wheatfield and until four weeks ago, when she came to North Tonawanda, she had resided in the township all her life. She is survived by a husband, Fred Hoffmeister; five daughters, Mrs. Regge (sic) and Mrs. Otto Nablo of North Tonawanda, Mrs. Fred Jagow of La Salle. Mrs. Albert Devantier of Walmore and Mrs. Edward Schroeder of St. Johnsburg; three sons, William Hoffmeister of St. Johnsburg, Fred Hoffmeister of Queen's Village, N. Y., and John Hoffmeister of Buffalo; a sister, Mrs. Charles Neubauer of Carlo, Mich., and a brother. Henry Homeyer (sic) of Bergholtz.
