Age 76, of the City of Tonawanda, January 15, 2024. Robert was the father of Eric (Amanda) Proefrock, son of the late Wallace Proefrock and Genevieve (nee Pusch) Proefrock, brother of William (Ann) Proefrock, Donald (Darlene) Proefrock and the late Richard Proefrock. He also survived by nieces Wendy Belasco, Linda Proefrock, Carol Proefrock and Mary Kathryn Proefrock-Hirschey, nephews Brian Proefrock, Donald Proefrock and was predeceased by nephew Randy Proefrock. Wallace P. Proefrock, of East Britton Drive in the Town of Niagara, died Thursday (Jan. 4, 2001) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a long illness. He was 87. Born in North Tonawanda, he was an electronic technician at the Board of Cooperative Education Services in Cambria for 20 years. Before that, he worked at Levy Brothers Furniture in Niagara Falls and Jim Hayes TV. He is a life member, serving 65 years, with the Gratwick Hose Company No. 6 in North Tonawanda. His wife, the former Grace Britton-Gray, died in July 1997. Survivors include three sons, Donald of Hackettstown, NJ, William of Port Crane, and Robert of Town of Tonawanda, and three daughters, Nancy Pfohl, Sally Frasca and Kathleen Chapin, all of Sanborn. Services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday in DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz. Burial will be in Niagara Falls Memorial Park, Lewiston.

NORTH TONAWANDA — Genevieve Proefrock (nee Pusch), age 90, of North Tonawanda, December 14, 2010. Genevieve was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. She was a former employee of Remington Rand and TRICO and was a member of the Gratwick Hose Ladies Auxiliary.

Beloved mother of Donald (Darlene) Proefrock of Hackettstown, NJ, William (Ann) Proefrock of Port Crane, NY, Robert Proefrock of Tonawanda and the late Richard Proefrock. Grandmother of eight grandchildren and her late grandson, Richard Proefrock; great-grandmother of nine great-grandchildren. Sister of Myeron Pusch of North Tonawanda; aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., in North Tonawanda on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Saturday at 10 AM, the Rev. Patrick McKenzie will officiate. Interment in Acacia Park Cemetery. Mrs. Rose K. Proefrock
Mrs. Rose K. Proefrock, 52, died this morning at the home of her son,
Wallace, 170 Community drive. A life-long resident of North Tonawanda, she
was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran church and the Ladies' Aid Society
of the church. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. John Britton of Niagara Falls;
three sons, Wallace and Herbert of North Tonawanda and Warren, serving with
the U. S. Army overseas; six grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Anna Kaufmann
of Chicago; Mrs. John Lemke, Mrs. Edward Buike and Mrs. William Boddy, and a
brother, Ernest Karre, North Tonawanda. Rites will be held Friday afternoon
at 2 o'clock from 54 Allen street and at 2:30 o'clock from the St. Mark's
church. The Rev. Paul Fretthold will officiate. Burial will be in Elmlawn.

Man Struck By Train, Killed
NORTH TONAWANDA, July 8.-Believed to have been struck by a southbound passenger train of the New York Central railroad's Niagara Falls branch at the Washington street crossing, the lifeless body of Christian Proeforck (sic), 74 years old, of 44 Stenzil (sic) street, was found this afternoon in a ditch beside the railroad track. The body was badly mangled and was ordered removed to Ramp's funeral home, in Adams street, by Coroner Jacob Helwig, who investigated the accident. He said that there were indications that the man was struck on the crossing and had been dead about an hour. It was learned that there is a southbound train which passes over the New York Central tracks at that point at about noon and authorities believe that this train struck the man, its crew unaware of the accident. He is survived by his wife, Wilhelmina Proeforck (sic); five sons, John, of Tonawanda, August, of St. Johnsburg, and Edward, William and George, of North Tonawanda; three daughters, Mrs. Philip Witkopf and Mrs. Rudolph Blank, of Walmore, Mrs. Arnold Weyers, of North Tonawanda; one brother, August, of North Tonawanda, and one sister, Mrs. Gustave Schendel, of Nashville. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 3:30 o'clock from the home and 4 o'clock from St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran church. Interment will be in St. Mark's cemetery, Niagara Falls boulevard.

Mrs. Wilhelmina Proefrock, 85, died yesterday afternoon at her home, 44
Stenzel street. Born in Germany, she had resided in North Tonawanda 76
years. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Philip Witkop and Mrs. Louise
Blank of Walmore and Mrs. Otto Weyers of North Tonawanda; five sons, john of
Tonawanda and August, Edward, William and George of North Tonawanda; 24
grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren., and a sister, Mrs. Edward Smith.
Rites will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 from the residence and at 2:30 from
the St. Mark's Lutheran church. The Rev. Paul Fretthold will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Mark's cemetery.

William F. Karre, 63 years old, died Saturday afternoon at his home at No. 222 Stenzil street after a lingering illness. He was born in Germany and had lived in the Tonawandas during the last thirty-four years of his life. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Paul and Ernest Karre of North Tonawanda, five daughters, the Misses Ella and Hattie Karre, Mrs. John Lemke and Mrs. Edward Proefrock of North Tonawanda and Mrs. H. Kaufmann of Chicago; three brothers, August Karre of Germany and Otto and Ernest Karre of North Tonawanda, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Zimmerman of North Tonawanda. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the late residence and half an hour later from the St. Mark's church on Washington street. Rev. Paul Freffhold officiating. Mrs. Hulda Karre, 84, died Saturday at her home, 222 Stenzel street. She was the wife of the late William Karre. Born in Germany, she came to the Tonawandas 60 years ago to reside. She leaves five daughters, Mrs. Anna Kaufman of Chicago; Mrs. John Lemke, Mrs. Rosa Proefrock, Mrs. Edward Bulke and Mrs. William Boddy of North Tonawanda; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
