    Emrys W. Hughes of Grand Island, a retired photoengraver, died Tuesday (Nov. 6, 2001) in Kenmore Mercy Hospital. He was 86.
    A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Hughes was a 1932 graduate of Niagara Falls High School. He worked as a photoengraver for Moore Business Forms for 40 years before retiring in 1978.
    He was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls, where he was a head usher, and Messiah Lutheran Church in Lewiston, where he was a choir member. Most recently, he was active at Trinity United Methodist Church on Grand Island and its domino social group.
    Hughes was a longtime member of the Retired Men's Service Club of the Niagara Frontier and its chorus, which sings for area nursing homes and other organizations. He also was a member of Niagara River Lodge 785, F&AM.
    He regularly played tennis with several groups and enjoyed playing dominoes and various card games.
    Survivors include Janice Carned Hughes of Grand Island; two daughters, Joan M. Watts of Highland, Mich., and Dorothy H. Kemper of Houston; a son, David J. of Niagara Falls; a stepdaughter, Wallee Ann Leri of Houston; a stepson, Jeff Stachowski of Dayton, OH; a sister, Gwenyth Peers of Lockport; 5 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
    Service will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday in Trinity United Methodist Church, 2100 Whitehaved Road, Grand Island. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston.

    St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran
    church was the setting last Saturday
    afternoon at 4 o'clock for the
    impressive wedding of Miss Lydia
    Schulz and Mr. Emrys W. Hughes,
    the marriage vows being taken before
    the altar flanked with palms
    and tall baskets of gladioli. Officiating
    at the service was the Rev.
    Oustav H. Ziemer, pastor of the
    church.
    The musical setting for the service
    was. presented by Miss Dilys
    Hughes, sister of the groom, at the
    organ, and Mr. James Linn, soloist.
    "Because" and "O. Promise Me"
    were the selections of Mr. Linn preceding
    the ceremony. During the
    wedding ceremony, Mr. Linn rendered
    the selection "The Lord's
    Prayer."
    The pews for the family and Invited
    guests were marked by white
    ribbon rosettes.
    The bride, who entered the
    church on the arm of her father,
    was radiant In her exquisite gown
    of white chiffon, simple in style,
    with bishop sleeves and a butterfly
    neckline finished with a tiny pearl
    ornament. Her gown was fashioned
    with a graceful long train. Her
    net wedding veil fell from a lacecovered
    sweetheart cap. She carried
    a bouquet, in colonial design,
    of white roses and sweet peas. Baby
    ribbon was tied in the flowers over
    a large white chiffon bow falling
    from the bouquet.
    Miss Gertrude Schulz, sister of
    the bride and her maid of honor,
    wore a floor-length gown of chiffon
    and lace in heaven blue. She
    carried a colonial bouquet of pink
    roses, forget-me-nots and sweet
    peas and wore a little coronet of
    multi-colored sweet peas.
    The bridesmaids were gowned
    alike in antique rose made on the
    same lines as that of the maid of
    honor. They, too, carried colonial
    bouquets of pink roses, forget-menots
    and sweet peas and wore little
    coronets. The bridesmaids were
    Miss Gwyneth Hughes, sister of the
    groom, and Miss Ruth Schulz, sister
    of the bride.
    Mr. Norman Heuer was the best
    man and the ushers were Mr. Ronald
    Kendall and Mr. Leonard
    Schulz, brother of the bride.
    The mother of the bride wore an
    attractive black lace gown with
    which she wore a corsage of pink
    roses and white sweet peas. The
    bridegroom's aunt, Mrs. C. J. Davies,
    wore a navy blue crepe dress
    and also had a corsage of pink
    roses and white sweet peas.
    Immediately after the ceremony,
    a wedding supper, including 50
    guests, was held In the basement of
    the church, the bride's table being
    centered with a two-tier wedding
    cake, topped by a miniature bride
    and groom. The reception followed
    at the bride's home.
    A number of parties and showers
    were held, including a linen shower
    by Mrs. Martin Schulz and Miss
    Gertrude 8chulz, a variety shower
    by Mrs. Charles Staley, a red and
    white kitchen shower by the
    Misses Dilys and Gwyneth Hughes,
    a personal shower by the Misses
    Irene Kllcoyne and Thelma ' Freeman
    and a dinner party at the
    Samovar by the girls of the Bureau
    of Social Welfare. Many beautiful
    gifts were received.
    Later in the evening, Mr. and
    Mrs. Hughes left on a short trip
    and will be at home to their many
    friends at 527 8eventh street.
    The bride chose a becoming going-
    a way frock of navy blue crepe,
    with white lace collar and matching
    accessories, and wore a corsage
    of gardenias.
    Out-of-town guests were present
    from Springfield, Massachusetts;
    Butler. Pennsylvania; Columbus,
    Ohio, and Buffalo, N. Y.

    Martin Schulz, 72, 1816 18th St., Niagara Falls, died yesterday in St. Mary's Hospital, Niagara Falls. He was a member of St. Paul's Brotherhood, the Young Men's Society and Mission Extension Society of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife, Ella, nee Collins; six children, Paul Schulz, Mrs. Emrys Hughs, Mrs. Albert Fetzer, Mrs. James Robinson and Miss Florence Schulz, all of Niagara Falls, the Rev. Leonard Schulz, India; seven grandchildren. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the family residence, at 2:30 p.m. in St. Paul's Church, Niagara Falls, the Rev. Leonard Ludwig officiating. Interment in Memorial Park.

    Services for Mrs. Ella L. Schulz, 74, of 1816 18th St., will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
    Mrs. Schulz died Saturday July 10, 1965) at the Restwell Nursing Home after a two year illness. She was born in Niagara Falls, June 9, 1891, the daughter of George and Albertine Mueller Collins. She was a life long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Her husband, Martin F. Schulz, died In 1951.
    Mrs. Schulz is survived by two sons, Rev. Leonard J. Schulz, Nayudupeta, India, and Paul M. Schulz, Niagara Falls; four daughters, Mrs. Emery (Lydia) Hughes, Niagara Falls; Mrs. Albert (Gertrude) Fetzer, Sanborn; Mrs. James (Ruth) Robinson, Rochester, and Mrs. Harland (Florence) Allen, Kenmore. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Ambrose (Frances) Franke, and two brothers, Raymond G. Collins and Benjamin Collins, all of Niagara Falls; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
    Friends may call at the Otto Redanz Funeral Home after 3 p.m. today and Tuesday.
    The family said that donations to the Lutheran India Mission through St. Paul Lutheran Church will be acceptable as tributes

    Longtime Resident, Mrs. Collins Dies
    Mrs. Albertlne Collins, widow of a well known resident of the north end of the city for the greater part of her life died at her home, 1644 Niagara avenue. She was a member and active worker In St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church for many years. She is survived by four children. Mrs. Martin Schulz. Mrs. Ambrose Frank and Raymond and Benjamin Collins, four sisters, Mrs John Walck, Mrs. David Heuer. Mrs Edward Goerss and Mrs. Gustave Haseley, and a brother, Philip Mueller, all of this city Fifteen grandchildren and thre« greati! based n: Guam. It j grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Saturday from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Schulz, 1816 Sixteenth street, at 2 p m. and in St. Paul's church at 2 30 p. m. with interment at Oakwood Cemetery.
