    Earl E. Luick, a former World War II gunner's mate who participated in the Normandy invasion, died Sunday (Nov. 19, 2000) in St. James Hospital, Hornell, after apparently suffering a heart attack while hunting. He was 75.
    Luick was born in Niagara Falls and had attended LaSalle High School.
    He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
    After the war, he worked for several years at Mang's Fish Market. He then became a machine tender at Kimberly-Clark Corp. which later became Niatec Corp. and then Cellu Products, from which he retired in 1981 after 31 years of service.
    He was a member of Wheatfield Post 1451, American Legion, and Grace Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
    Luick is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Arlene A. Strasburg of Niagara Falls; a daughter, Kathy J. Majka of Niagara Falls; a sister, Carol N. of Niagara Falls; two brothers, Warren J. Sr. and Donald R., both of Sanborn; and two grandsons.
    Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday in Grace Lutheran Church, 716 Cayuga Drive. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston.
    Wheatfield Post 1451 will hold memorial services at 7:30 P.M. today in Otto Redanz Funeral Home, 2215 Military Road, Town of Niagara

    Arlene A. Luick, 77, who worked as a stenographer at Bell Aerospace Textron, Wheatfield, for 40 years, died Monday (Nov. 12, 2001) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a brief illness.
    Born Arlene Strasburg in Niagara Falls, she was a graduate of LaSalle High School.
    She retired in 1986 from Bell Aerospace.
    Mrs. Luick was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church and was a member of the Bell Aerospace Girls Club and its Quarter Century Club.
    Her husband of 49 years, Earl E., died in 2000.
    Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Majka of Niagara Falls; a brother, Earl Strasburg of Niagara Falls; a sister, Gladys Beningo of Spring Hill, Fla.; and two grandsons.
    Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday in Grace Church, 716 Cayuga Drive. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston

    Strasburg—Grose.
    La Salle, June 23.—A very pretty
    wedding was performed at the Zion
    church last
    week Wednesday evening at eight
    o'clock, when the Rev. Daniel Goerss
    united in the bonds of matrimony Miss
    Anna Grose, daughter of Albert Grose
    of Pear avenue, and George Strasbnrg
    also of Pear avenue, the impressive
    ring ceremony being used. The bride
    wore a gown and veil and white silk,
    and carried a bouquet of bride's roses.
    She was attended by Miss Emma
    Grose of this place and Miss Zimmerman
    of Toriawanda, while Harold
    Strasburg acted as best man. The
    Lohengrin wedding march was impressively
    played by P. C. Schulze.
    Following the ceremony, a reception
    for 60 guests was held at the bride's
    home, covers being laid for 20, at
    the bride's table. The bride and groom
    spent a few days in Cleveland, O.,
    and have taken up their residence in
    La Salle.

    Mrs. Emily Luick, 85, of 1110 92nd St, a native of Germany and resident of this, city for the last 82 years, died yesterday at Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years. Mrs. Luick arrived in the LaSalle section in 1873 at the "age of three with her four brothers and three sisters. She had lived at the 92nd St. home since her marriage to Jack Luick in 1893. Her husband was a constable for 30 years. Her father farmed land near Pine Ave, Blvd. and the 94th St. bridge. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Joseph Shomers Sr., Mrs. Samuel Salt, Mrs. Simon Frawley, this city; Mrs. Vaughn Nevling, Madera, Pa.; four sons, Elmer Luick, John Luick, Fred Luick and Carl Luick, all this city; 25 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be. held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Lane Funeral Home and at 2 pm. at the church, with the Rev. Lawrence E. Herfurth, minister, officiating.     Church Founder, Long Time Falls Resident. Dies
    Gustav W. Haseley. 81. one of the founders of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church here and a descendant of a pioneer Town of Wheatfield family, died last night at his home. 1657 Cleveland avenue. His wife. Mrs. Hulda Mueller Haseley died last March 13. The church was founded at a meeting held at the Haseley home in October. 1898, when the family resided in Ashland avenue. The services were also held there until the small parish, of which the Haseley's were the only married couple, built Its first church. While Mr. Haseley was born at Walmore, June 14. 1865. his father, the late William Haseley was one of the original settlers of the Town or Wheatfield. His mother was ihe late Mrs. Marie Williams Haseley. However. Mr. Haseley resided in the LaSalle section of this city most of his life, operating a small farm for some time. He retired two years ago after being employed as a maintenance workman at the Mathieson Alkali Works. Inc.. for 45 years. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs Fred Loge. Mrs. Raymond G. Allen. Mrs. Arthur Rlckert, Mrs. Elmer Luick and Mrs. Carl Luick; two sons. Benjamin G., and Myron H. Haseley: a brother, John Haseley, all of this city; six sisters. Mrs. Matilda Haseley; Tonawanda; Mrs. Otto Miller and Mrs. Edward Wurl, Martinsville: Mrs. John Ferchen, Town of Wheatfield; Mrs. Martha Quandt. Lockport. and Mrs. Hulda Hartman. this city; 23 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the home at 2:15 p. m. Monday and 15 minutes later at the church, Eighteenth street and Cleveland avenue. Interment will be made in Riverdale cemetery.

    Mrs. Hulda Mueller Haseley. 77, a charter member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church, which was originally organized at her home here in 1895, died last night at her home, 1657 Cleveland avenue. She had been in ill health for three years. Born at Bergoltz, January 21, 1870, she came to this city 59 years ago, and she was a member of St. Paul's Ladies Aid society for 50 years. On October 26, 1894, she married Gustav W. Haseley, who survives. Other survivors include five daughters and two sons, Mrs. Raymond G. Allen, Mrs. Fred Loge, Mrs. Arthur C. Rickert, Mrs. Elmer L. Luick, Mrs. Carl A. Luick, Benjamin G., and Myron H. Haseley, all of this city; two sisters and a brother, Mrs. David Heuer, Mrs. Anna Walck and David Mueller, of Bergholtz. Nineteen grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m., Monday at the home and a half hour later at the church. The Rev. Leonhard M. Ludwig, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Riverdale cemetery.

    Mr. and Mrs. Henry Strassburg celebrated their golden wedding at the
    parish house of the Zlon Lutheran church. La Salle. About 100 persons, members
    of the congregation and friends, of the couple-partook of a dinner which
    was the feature of the celebration. The interior of the parish house was attractively
    decorated in white and gold and yellow roses were on the tables.
    Mr. and Mrs. Strassburg were married on January 22, 1880, in Bergholtz. by
    the Rev. Mr. Welnbach, and resided for a short time on the Niagara Falls
    boulevard. For the last 35 years they have lived in the La Salle section. Their
    descendants number six sons, three daughters, 27 grandchildren and one great
    grandchild.
    At the dinner guests were present from this city, Lcckport, the Tonawandas,
    Town Line and Buffalo. The Rev. Mr. Hoyer briefly addressed, the assemblage
    after which a hymn was sung. A large bouquet of daffodils was presented to Mr.
    and Mrs. Strassburg by the Ladles Aid society of the church.

    Albert G. Gross, 85, of 8817 Pear avenue, LaSalle, died Thursday night in Memorail Hospital, Niagara Falls. He was born in Germany, and came to live in LaSalle many years ago. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Louis Roloff of Tonawanda, Mrs. George Strasburg and Miss Emma Grose of LaSalle; one son, Otto F. Grose of North Tonawanda; one sister, Mrs. Fred Krueger of Niagara, North Dakota; one brother, August Grose of Parkers Prairie, Minnesota; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the home, with services at 2:30 p.m. in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, LaSalle. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Niagara Falls.
