TOWN OF WHEATFIELD~ William R. Ziemendorf, 73, of Ward Road, died Monday (April 19,1993) in Mount St. Mary 's Hospital after a long illness.
A native of the Town of Wheatfield he was born May 8, 1919 to Reinhard and Alma (Wendt) Ziemendorf, now deceased.
Mr. Ziemendorf was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving from 1942 until 1946. He was employed at Wendt's Dairy in Niagara Falls as a plant engineer for 37 years, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn, where he served as Elder and Treasurer. He was also a lay delegate of the Eastern District Church Council (sic) of the American Lutheran Church. He was a member of the National Association of Power Engineers, the Western New York Historical Society and the. American Legion Post No. 969 in Sanborn, where he was treasurer 30 years. He was an exempt member of the Sanborn Fire Company. He was past president of the Niagara Falls Chapter of the Lay Society Diabetic Association. He. was a former member of the Town of Wheatfield Board of Assessment Review.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Patterson) Ziemendorf of the Town of Wheatfield; two daughters, Beverly J. Ziemendorf and Sarah A. Coffey, both of Sanborn; two sons, Robert W. Ziemendorf of Scarborough, Ont., and Brian L. Ziemendorf of Niagara Falls; a sister, Elizabeth Milleville of Sanborn; a brother, Lloyd V. Ziemendorf of Niagara Falls; and seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jane Ziemendorf.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore Road, with the Rev. Allen Griep officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Wheatfield. Memorials maybe made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Building Fund or the Tri-Community Ambulance Service, Inc., P.O. Box 241, Sanborn, N.Y. 14132.
