    GOERSS - Gertrude Goerss, 55, of North Tonawanda, Tuesday (April 18, 1978) in Buffalo, N.Y. She was the daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Richard Goerss. Surviving are four brothers, the Rev. Herbert Goerss of Florida, Alfred Goerss of Pittsburgh, Paul Goerss of North Tonawanda and William Goerss of Detroit, Mich., a sister,Mrs. Evelyn Goodwin of Binghamton, N.Y., and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver St., at Ward Rd., North Tonawanda FRIDAY from 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home noon Saturday, the Rev. Enno A. Schmoock will officiate. Interment in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

    GOERSS – Mrs. Louise A. Goerss, age 63, died suddenly last night, Dec. 7, 1953, in her home on Shawnee Rd., Town of Wheatfield. Mrs. Goerss was a lifelong resident of the township. She was the wife of the late Rev. Richard Goerss; mother of the Rev. Herbert Goerss of Springfield, MA., Alfred of Oakmont, Pa., Paul Gertrude, William and Evelyn Goerss of North Tonawanda; sister of Phillip Broecker of the Town of Wheatfield and Mrs. Clifford Robbins of Tonawanda. Seven grandchildren also survive. Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Fretthold Funeral Home, 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., and at 2:30 p.m. in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Frederick A. Hinners will officiate. Interment will be in Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery. She was a member of St. Paul’s Ladies Aid Society and the Women’s Missionary League.

    Wedding to Rev. Richard R. Goerss of Martinsville Will be Culmination of Romantic Courtship - A Girl's Devotion to Her Lover.
    Miss Louise Broecker, daughter of Charles Broecker of the Nash road in the town of Wheatfield, who has just graduated as a missionary nurse from the Concordia Seminary at St. Louis, will leave next week for East India, where she will be married to the Rev. Richard R. Goerss, son of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Goerss of the Tonawanda creek road, at Martinsville, who is now a missionary in that country. On her trip to the missionary field, Miss Broecker will be accompanied by Miss Helen Gerbing of Gotha, Ga., a classmate who will marry the Rev. Jean Williams at Ambur in East India. The marriage of Miss Broecker to Rev. Goerss, which is to take place in September, will culminate a romantic courtship. Rev. Goerss and Miss Broecker have been friends since childhood. Four years ago. Rev. Goerss left Martinsville to study for the ministry. He was ordained a year ago. Under the ruling of the church, of which the young clergyman is a missionary, the wife of a missionary must be a seminary trained nurse. In order that she might marry Mr. Goerss, Miss Broecker went to the St. Louis seminary a year ago to study to be a nurse. She graduated a fortnight ago and returned to her home. Miss Broecker is now spending a few weeks with her father at St.Johnsburg The trip, which Miss Broecker will make, will require six weeks and will cover about 12.000 miles. She will be met by her fiance at Colomba, Ceylon. The marriage will take place there. After the wedding, the couple will journey to Nagercoil, Western India, where they will make their future home. The Rev. Mr. Goerss is now a Lutheran missionary at that place.

    William F. Goerss, 78 years old, died early this morning at his home, Shawnee road, town of Wheatfield, after a prolonged illness. Born in the town of Wheatfield, he had resided there all his life with the exception of 15 years, which he spent in the town of Pendleton. He resided on the farm in Pendleton now occupied by Acacia cemetery. He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran church on the Niagara Falls boulevard. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gustav Reichert, Wheatfield, and Mrs. Edwin J. Wendt, North Tonawanda; seven sons, Arthur A. Wheatfield; Rev. Richard W., Nagercoil, India, Ezra C., Wilmer C., and Gerhard, North Tonawanda, Rev. Daniel F., Pitcairn, Pa., and Wallemar (sic) A., Cleveland; 27 grandchildren and a sister. Mrs. William Ferchen, Bergholz. Services will be held Thursady afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence and at 2:30 o'clock from St. Paul's church, Rev. F. A. Hinners officiating. Burial will be in Elmlawn.

    Charles J. Broecker, 82, of 1086 Falls boulevard, died yesterday afternoon after a prolonged illness. He was born in the town of Wheatfield where he resided until taking up his home in North Tonawanda two years and a half ago. He leaves a wife, Mary; five sons, Lewis Broecker, Bridgeport, Conn., Philip Broecker, North Tonawanda, Oscar and George Rosehardt, Buffalo, and Matt Rosehardt, Boston, MA.; six daughters, Mrs. Matilda Belling, Mrs. R. W. Goerss and Mrs. Henry Mann, North Tonawanda, Mrs. Robert Brown, Mrs. John Jevens and Mrs. Arthur Westenfelder, Buffalo; 27 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was a member of the St. Joseph's Lutheran church at Bergholz. Rites will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence, the Rev. Otto Bruss officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Park.
