N.Y., formerly of North Tonawanda, Sunday (April 23,1978) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness, Mrs. Strassburg was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband, August Strassburg; two sons Terry (Carol) Strassburg, of Kansas City, Kansas. Gary (Janice) Strassburg of Niagara Falls, N.Y. two grandchildren David and Amanda; her mother Mrs. Elenora Mellenthine of North Tonawanda and a brother Calvin Mellenthine of Kenmore. The family will receive friends at the Fretthold Funeral Home., 1241 Oliver St., at Ward Rd., North Tonawanda today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in St. Mark Lutheran Church Tuesday at 10 a.m. the Rev. Thomas K. Spahn will officiate. Interment in St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery, In lieu of flowers, memorials, may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church or to the Leukemia Society.

    Strassburg-Mellenthine Rites Took Place in Church at Sioux Falls, S.D.
    Miss Violet Mellenthine, daughter of Mrs. Eleonora Mellenthine and Private August F. Strassburg, son of Mrs. Emma Strassburg were married Wednesday afternoon, November 3, at 1:30 o’clock in the Zion Lutheran church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. G. A. Troenel of Sioux Falls.
    The bride was lovely in her gown of white satin, and net skirt. A sweetheart neckline and three-quarter length sleeves completed the dress. Her veil of illusion was held by a juliet cap, and she carried a bouquet of white asters and roses. The groom is serving with the armed forces at the air base at Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
    Her only attendant, Mrs. Hugo Belling, the former Marjorie Butzbach, was matron of honor. She wore a dusty blue taffeta dress with a spray of blue flowers in her hair, and carried a bouquet of yellow asters and roses.
    P. F. C. Wilbert Ostwald of Ward road, Niagara Falls, N. Y., who is stationed at Sioux Falls was best man.
    The reception was held at Carpenter Hotel.
    Mrs. August Strassburg and Mrs. Hugo Belling will return shortly and the bride will make her home with her parent for the duration.

    Helmuth C. Mellenthine, 40 years old, died this morning at his home on the
    Ward road, town of Wheatfield, after an illness of two days with pneumonia.
    Born in North Tonawanda, he had resided in this locality all his life. He
    was a member of the Niagara Lutheran chorus and the St. Johnsburg fire
    department. He leaves a wife, Eleanor, nee Stenzel; a son, Calvin; a
    daughter, Viola; three brothers, Marcus Mellenthine, town of Wheatfield;
    Edmond Williams, Tonawanda and Walter Williams, Lockport and a sister, Mrs.
    Henry Broecker, Wheatfield. Services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock
    from the residence and at 2:30 o'clock from the St. John's church, Rev.
    Walter Thiemecke officiating. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery.

    Eleonora E. Mellenthine, 94, formerly of Ward Road, a former employee of E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. in Niagara Falls, died Wednesday (April 5, 1995) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda, after a brief illness. The former Eleonora Stenzel was born in Wheatfield. She was employed for 25 years in the sewing department at Du Pont, retiring in 1966. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid Society, the Lutheran Missionary League, the DeGraff Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Wheatfield Senior Citizens and the Du Pont 25-Year Club. Her husband, Helmuth, died in 1936. Survivors include two sisters, Mathilda Stoelting of Bergholz and Dorothy Bross of North Tonawanda; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday in St. John's Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls Boulevard at Ward Road.

    Charles A. Stenzel, of
    St. Johnsburg, Dies
    NORTH TONAWANDA, Nov. 6—
    Charles A. Stenzel. 76. a lifelong
    resident of St. Johnsburz and and
    emplovc of the Buffalo Bolt company
    for the past 40 years, died sud-
    denly yesterday from a heart attack
    while at his place of employment.
    He retired as an employee of the
    company just before the war broke
    out but was called back as a guard
    at the Oliver street plant when the
    United States broke with Japan and
    Germany.
    Mr. Stenzel was a member of the
    St. John's Lutheran church. For
    more than 20 years he had served
    the church as an elder. He was also
    a member of the St. Johnsburg fire
    company.
    Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary
    Perslien Stenzel; three sons, Wil-
    bert Stenzel of tonawanda, and
    Carl and Reuben Stenzel, of the
    Town of Wheatfield four daugh-
    ters, Mrs. Eleanora Mellenthine, Mrs.
    Erwin Stoelting and Mrs. Arthur
    Stoelting of the Town of Wheat-
    field and Mrs. Dorothea Ellman
    of the town of Tonawanda; 17
    grandchildren and a brother, Her-
    man Stenzel, of Lockport.
    Funeral services will be held Fri-
    day afternoon at 2 o'clock from the
    residence and at 2:30 at St. John's
    church. Rev. Walter Themecke will
    officiate and burial will be in St.
    John's cemetery.

    AGED GRATWICKIAN DIED YESTERDAY
    Gratwick yesterday lost one off its oldest residents when Charles Stenzel of the Ward Road passed away at his home. Mr. Stenzel was 74 years of age and had lived on the Ward road for 43 years. He is survived by a wife, four sons, August, William, Charles, Jr., and Herman, and one sister, Mrs. Christian Broecker. The funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the house and a half hour later from the German Lutheran church.
