Nelma Sadie Becker, born in Luray, VA, died February 23, 2009, at age 84. Married to Arnold William Becker, (predeceased March 2008) for 61 years; they raised four sons and a daughter in Lewiston, Niagara County, NY. Arnold and Nelma were founding members of Messiah Lutheran Church, Lewiston, Niagara County, NY. While raising their family, Nelma Becker was an active member of VFW and handled the clerical work for the Shell Gas Station and Lewiston Marina, run by her husband. In 1972, the family moved to Florida, opening and running several restaurant/night clubs in the Tampa Bay area. Her warmth, humor and compassion endeared her to their countless patrons as the club’s hostess and manager. Nelma and Arnold’s work for charitable organizations helped raise $155,000 to benefit adults and children living with mental retardation. She is survived by four sons, Arne, Richard, Ronald and David; 10 grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at 2:30 PM at All Saints Lutheran Church, 9525 Hudson Ave., Hudson, FL.
