William Harold Strasburg
William Harold Strasburg, 80, of Mobile, AL, formerly of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, following a short illness. Bill was the son of the late Albert and Clara Strasburg, also of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY. A veteran, Bill served in the US Army during World War II. In 1952 he married Shirley Alcorn, also a native of Niagara Falls, now residing in Mobile, AL. They were happily married for 55 years. In addition to serving in the military, Bill worked on the Niagara Power Project and then for Pittsburgh Metallurgical (later called Airco Alloys and then Macalloy). In 1971 he was transferred to Mobile, AL as the company's traffic manager and then later to Charleston, SC, where he retired. He and Shirley returned to Mobile, AL last year in order to live closer to their children. Bill, a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle, is survived by his four children, Kathy Gresh, Maryland, Karen McNeal, GA, William Strasburg, FL and Charles Strasburg, AL; 12 grandchildren; four brothers, Robert, Niagara Falls, Richard, AZ, Albert, FL, Jack, Niagara Falls; one sister, Joanne Millville, Niagara Falls and numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brothers, Donald and Charles. Although Bill left the Niagara area in the 1970s, he remained a loyal Buffalo Bills fan and always enjoyed his visits to the area. He often said that he didn't miss the snow, but he did miss the people and the food. A Memorial Service was held on March 21st in Mobile, AL with family and friends.

Miss Alcorn to Wed
William Strasburg
A lovely wedding will be solemnized
this afternoon at 4 o'clock, uniting
in marriage Miss Shirley Jean
Alcorn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
H. R. Alcorn, Military road, and
Mr. William Strasburg, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Albert Strasburg, Pasadena
avenue. The double-ring ceremony
will be performed by the Rev. Arthur
H. Schmoyer, pastor of Zion Evangelical
Lutheran church, Michigan
avenue-and Tenth street.
The bride to be, escorted to the
altar by her father, will be attired
in a gown of white imported Charir
tilly lace over white satin. The
fitted lace bodice, with a nylon tulle
yoke and lace Peter Pan collar, flows
into a full skirt sweeping into a
court length train. Her imported
French veil will be held in place by
a pleated lace coronet. She will
carry an arm bouquet of white roses.
Miss Verna Alcorn, sister of the
bride, will be maid of honor. She
will wear a gown of powder blue
nylon tulle shading into deep blue
with matching tulle picture ha> and
carry an arm bouquet of shaded pink
roses.
The bridesmaids will be gowned
in ankle-length nylon tulle wjth
matching picture hats and carry arm
bouquets of roses in contrasting
shades. In nile green will be Mrs.
William G. Dugan, sister of the
bride, and Miss Marjorie Bechtel,
in pastel yellow will be Miss Joanne
Strasburg, sister of the bridegroom
and Mrs. Edward Wielgus; and in
lavender will be Miss Vera Bond,
and Mrs. Patricia Kyle.
The best man will be Mr. Earl
Strasburg, and the ushers will be
Messrs. Robert Strasburg. Donald
Strasburg, Richard Strasburg, broth-
ers of the bridegroom, Peter Maniur-
ski, William Dugan and Douglas
Pils.
The bride's mother has chosen to
wear a navy blue chiffon and lace
dress with accessories of navy blue
and white. The bridegroom's mother
will be gowned in dusty rose,
crepe and lace with white accessories.
They each will wear corsages of
yellow roses.
The reception for 250 guests will
be held this evening at the home
of the bride. For traveling to the
Adirondack mountains and .New
York City, the bride will, wear a
beige suite with shaded brown accessories
and an orchid corsage.
Mr. and Mrs. Strasburg will reside
at 9012 South Military road.
